after backpacking for 2 days it died, I brought along a power pack which got wet and it discharged so I had no power. Maybe it would have lasted longer had I turned it off at nite but forgot. Expensive subscription and very short battery life.
Think it's still good idea to have one of these.

The device would not turn on. We had purchased for a dual-sport trip in Moab. Had to buy another while traveling.
The replacement worked great!
Best Buy was awesome and the return was easy. But, make sure to give yourself plenty of time to make sure the device works prior to any trip or hike you are taking.

I shouldn’t have returned but it needs a monthly subscription to work fully. There are some features that work without it but to get the full use Garmin sucks you in to the old monthly.

Worth the money

Works as intended. Hunt Choctawhatchee River basin here in Florida. Very remote and virtually no cell service where I’m at. Able to send and receive text messages through the app connected via Bluetooth to Garmin in reach. Well worth the money. Enables me to stay in contact with love ones at home. A must have if you hunt in remote areas with no cell service. I also like the track back feature.
