I had an older non solar instinct for almost 4 years before the battery quit. I literally tried to destroy it,but the battery failed and then trying to open it like the YouTube vid showed to change the battery was it's demise. This new solar instinct is better as it has pulse ox feature and it's battery is supplemented by solar.I still use a charger when it hits 45-50% because I let my old one go to 15%and that was it's end. These are rugged milspec watches, but I use a stretchy nylon band and urethane bezel cover which really helps prevent damage. It's one of the best watch family I have owned.

I have the original instinct and bought the gen 2 solar as a gift for someone who absolutely loves it. It’s comfortable and has a lot of useful features. Battery life is amazing.

This is an excellent smart watch. It is very simple to use and its key features are easily accessible with a minimal number of strokes. The watch band is very comfortable and has multiple perforations to customize the fit and allow skin to breathe during workouts. A full charge will last for at least four days of GPS-activated activities (runs, hikes, walks, etc.) and three weeks of normal (watch only) use. On a sunny day, direct sunlight exposure of few hours will add at least an extra day-worth of charge. While I cannot attest the accuracy of pulse ox feature, it certainly is a great bonus for this relatively inexpensive device. I would recommend this watch to active runners and hikers who want an easy-to-use, rugged smart watch.

Ive had a few smart watches and this one by far has been my favorite. Alot of the time you get a smart watch because of all the features, then quickly find out to use them its either a pain or it drains the battery super fast. With this watch garmin left out all the gimmicky stuff and just left usful features, that are quick and easy to use. On top of that i have been wearing this watch for the last 20+ days and have only charged it once. The smartphone app is easy to use and navigate and all around this watch just works. Ive had fitbit, samsung watches, mi bands and this by far is the best out of all of them

The watch is rugged and doesn’t look like a delicate smart watch. I use it for kayaking and paddle boarding, so I can find my way back with confidence using the breadcrumb feature that direct you to your original spot. Light weight and the battery last days. Really happy about this purchase.

So far this watch has been accurate and working as advertised. Taking it on a few out and back hikes the GPS is spot on as well as the altitude. One thing that I'm not a huge fan of is the band if you sleep with it on it has a tendency to press into the skin some. But with the holes in it I have had less issues then I did with a Fitbit tracker on my skin getting rubbed raw. As for the battery life I have only charged it 2 times in about a month and a half. The solar helps a ton but if you don't have a large amount of time in the sun it doesn't go indefinitely.

Holds a charge and you can always charge with solar when outside in the sun. Rugged. I wear it everyday. Whether gym, hiking, or yard work it stands up.

Was never into the idea of smartwatch before due to frequeny needed to charge. The solar function and long battery life appealed to more more as i have been getting back into running. This charge with all functions on usually lasts me about a week including one to two workouts a day. I haven't really tried to completely recharge it from the sun, but it seems that takes a long time and is just a nice perk based off youtube reviews. May be nicer if you are outside a lot. So far it has been accurate for my runs as far as distance as well. I'd recommend this to anyone active for the running features and heart rate data alone. Depending on your running level i know they make more serious watches but I wasn't ready to buy one until I saw if I would like it. All in all so far so good after about a month with the watch.

I used to have Fitbit versa 2. This is my fist garmin. I love the gps and the metrics it has for steps; heart rate; stress, sleep, etc.

Absolutely love the watch. Feels great on my wrist, took a few days to get used to it it though after moving from a smaller Fitbit. GPS is amazing, I'm excited for the Solar more in the summer, and overall functionality is solid.

I bought it as a Christmas gift for my husband, he uses it daily, charges in the sun, durable battery and good location when hunting

We bought this for my husband who works outside on boats. He really likes it. It is rugged looking and the alarms are strong enough to let him when breaks & lunch times are (especially when working). He has only charged the watch twice.

Love the garmin inreach I wear it everyday in the woods cutting brush and have worn it to a wildfire and even though I left with 3 days of battery life and had no charger I was able to charge it via solar and lasted till I got home 7 days later. Highly recommend to anyone that wants a watch that will hold up to abuse.

Comfortable and versatile watch. The solar charging is great. Rarely need to charge it using the cable. I mainly use it for running, biking, walking, hiking and tracking daily numbers like steps, calories, etc.

Love this smartwatch! I have gone through 6 or 7 Fitbit watches over the last several years, so, was used to the way Fitbits worked and their app, so, did require some adjustment to the Garmin with the way the buttons and menus work on the watch. But, i love this thing so much more than the Fitbit. I think the Garmin app is much better too. I like the Solar option since i do spend alot of time outside. The battery life on this thing is incredible. If you turn on the Sleep Pulse Ox option, it will significantly reduce the battery life, but, still longer than any charge I got from my various Fitbit devices. I prefer the black and white screen to the colored screens. Also, love the rugged look of this watch.

Great watch for no-frills fitness/data tracking. Battery lasted over a week even with daily GPS tracking. Ocean tested, zero issues. Missing some other smartwatch bells and whistles, but a great rugged watch for daily use.

Very happy with this acquisition! I purchased it for hiking in AZ, have not had any issues with it at all. Battery lasts 8-12 days on full charge and is very useful in giving you information on sleep habits as well.

I’m not a big watch wearer and don’t care much for apple watches, got this to help me with time during long hikes/rucks. Love that I can go weeks without charging it, solar helps too!

I've had this for almost two years and I love it. It's a little bulky if you prefer a more feminine watch but I do love all the functions. the life on this is incredible. It will die more quickly the more you utilize the feature i.e. running, swimming, weight training, ... but it does charge if you're outdoors or driving so I do love the battery life regardless.
