    Best Investment Ever

I received this as a gift from my husband for Christmas. This is the best thing ever. I am in sales so I am driving all the time and getting lost. Instead of having paper all over my car from mapquest print outs all I need is this wonderful device. I know some people said they were disappointed about the voice not saying the street names but the screen is lit up enough even at night to where you can easily see the street name, and it will tell you in advance before you need to turn, for example in .5 miles turn left. For the price of this device, this is the best thing ever. Yeah you can spend more and get a few more features but this does everything you need for the average person.

    ATTENTION SENIORS!!!

I'm almost 70 years old and the Garmin nuvi 200 is my first GPS. I like this thing so much that the only "Con" I have is that I haven't had it for the last 54 years that I have been driving. I plugged it in and went on my way without a problem. I tested it on locations that I know well and it has more than met my expectations. It finds a signal almost as soon as I turn it on. I live in a new area that the streets and houses are only 4 years old and the Garmin 200 located my home very quickly. If you are a senior and hesitant to try a GPS, I highly recommend the Garmin nuvi 200. If you are a younger person and thinking about buying a GPS for you parents, this unit is a great choice.

    Great GPS for the price

This is probably the best GPS unit for the money. It comes with everything you need to get started: car charger, suction cup mount, dash mount. The one thing I wish it came with was a USB cable to connect it to a computer for updates. It does have a memory card slot for updates that way, so I guess it evens out. The audio is very loud and can be easily controlled. The maps are very clear and easy to read. If you're looking for a GPS unit that doesn't offer the useless frills of MP3 playback, etc., but want a barebones unit that still functions great, I suggest this Nuvi200.

    Perfect for anyone!!!!!!

I bought this at Best Buy and plugged it in and started to use it in the parking lot! Infact it was so easy to use that I got directions to my next destination without even looking at the manual! When I got home I downloaded a little pink car and the "5.0" cop car...so fun!!! Only draw back is that it isn't perfectly up-to-date with some restaurants, gas stations, and addresses...but if you choose a gas station near by and there is a newer one on the way I am sure you are going to be smart enough just to stop at that one!!! So, perfect for that person who needs navigation for long trips once in a while and likes a low-priced gadget that even has a picture viewer and calculator!!! I would definently buy this one again!!!!

    Great GPS

It is a great device that is completely worth it. I've never had any other navigation system so I cannot compare it but all I can say is that it made my life so much easier. I say made since it was recently stolen:( I'm so mad. I'm going to buy a new garmin, the garmin 350 to try it out. But as far as the nuvi 200 Seriously BUY IT, it is a great investment that will save you time from being lost (therefore gas money and time itself). I used to get lost ALL the time!!! But this literally saved me so many times, especially when I went to Texas and when I had appointments that I had no clue where they were. Well Hope you enjoy your new garmin if you buy it, which you should!!!

    Good Purchase

I find garmin to be very useful, i was very happy with my purchase. As long as I am going to a town not a city the garmin is great. I am the worst when it comes to reading directions so it is preety fantastic that a voice prompts me to turn at a precise time to get to my locations. The only issues I have with garmin is it needs to reload alot, but i do live in the city and go through many tunnels, over passes etc. I really find garmin helpful when my husband and I want to go out to eat and have no idea where. It is awesome that we can grab garmin punch in what kind of food we are craving that night and it will give us options from nearest to the farthest place. I would recommend garmin to my friends, i actually have!

I recently purchased the Garmin nuvi 200 series gps system Monday 08/07 and let me just say...Wow! I picked up this model (luckily it was the very last one) had a $50-off coupon and total cost was around $108...For a GARMIN! Plugged it up, mounted and ready to go in as little as 5 minutes. To test this baby out; in which I was heading to Austin from Beaumont, TX at the time... Let's just say I typed in pizza in Baytown and found a CiCi's that I never knew of! It was awesome! Meanwhile, the system took me right to the driveway of where I was heading! So basically in conclusion, this sucker does it all minus voice-prompted street names, & blue tooth. But for a $100? What else do you really need?

    Great product

This is a wonderful product. I just started a job that requires a lot of travel, and the Garvin GPS system allows me to put in an address of the place I need to go and just hit the road. I don't have handwritten directions that I have to look at while I'm driving, which can be a hazard. I also allowed my 16 year old daughter to take a road trip with some of her friends to Charlotte, NC, which is probably the hardest city to get around in that I know, and she did great. She said the Garvin system just took her right to where she wanted to go, and I had some piece of mind. I wonder how I ever lived without it. For the price, it is a great investment.

This is a great TOOL and a must have for every vehicle. For the Price it is incredible. I dont leave home without it. I do wish it had more features but that is why it is the cheaper unit. I have the "WHITE" model which looks very nice. It is detachable so you can take it with you for a bike ride or what not. It is very simple to use and is durable because still works great after my son has thrown it. You can plug it in to your pc and download different voices and graphics to use rather than the standard pre-loaded ones. The screen is a bit small but works great for me. all in all I give this a 8 out of 10!! I would definately recomend it!!!!!

    Good little unit

I bought this unit to use on my motorcycle due to its small size and it works great. Ram mounts is due to release a handle bar mount with a cradle for the Nuvi next week. The existing mount with the suction cup will actually hold to my tachometer, but vibrates a lot. Just used it to go to Daytona and back and it worked great. Wish it was water resistant, but easily stowed when the rain comes, and bluetooth would be nice to hear the voice commands on my helmets intercom speakers, but overall, very pleased with the unit.

    Great value

Nice compact design for this GPS. You can put it in your pocket with ease and tranfer easily to another vehicle. It has been very accurate an has many features of higher priced units, at a fraction of the price. Took our first 'long" trip with it to Myrtle Beach and it performed quite well. The initial signal is "picky". Sometimes have to bring close to windsheild or window for it to initiate. Once locked in, it performs like a charm. Great for people who are "directionally challenged" like myself. Only drawback is that the charger is "cheap" feeling and is clumsy to plug into outlet. It sometimes has to be turned to engage the power properly. Get this one, you won't be disappointed.

    Excellent GPS

Had this for about 6 months, and I love it. The Nuvi 200 speaks all directions to you. It doesn't speak the actual street names, but it says when to turn and the street name is shown on the screen. The touch screen and menus are very easy to use and pretty intuitive. The maps are extremely accurate. Had to find an address in Upstate New York that was about 40 miles away, and 7 miles down a dirt road. This model took me right to the door! You'll get some significantly different routes sometimes by choosing fastest over shortest. All in all, a great starter GPS unit if you don't need the real-time traffic updates. I recommend it.

    I love my Nüvi 200!!!

I am the woman that fits into the "has no sense of direction" stereotype. My entire life I have gotten lost - especially if it is an area that I'm unfamiliar with. So, as a birthday present to myself - I bought the Garmin Nüvi 200. What a lovely driving companion "she" has turned out to be!! Very distinct audio, step-by-step navigation, crystal clear graphics, and an amazing capacity for finding every obscure address and location that I throw at her. If you're considering buying a portable GPS product, I would HIGHLY recommend the Garmin Nüvi 200. Once you have it, you will wonder how you ever got along WITHOUT having one.

I am so glad I finally bought a GPS! This unit does exactly what I need...gets me where I'm going. I recommend using it first in an area you are familiar with. The first time I used it, I was not used to the mileage countdown to the next turn and I turned too soon several times. The unit counts down fractions of a mile and then feet until your turn. Once you have this down....no more getting lost! The only problem is that the GPS sometimes sends you "the long way". I tested the unit near my home and it always attempted to put me on a major highway rather than local roads. I can deal with this if it gets me where I need to be.

    Best Buy For Your $

This product is absolutely great! I know it lacks many tech features such as MP3 playback but with iPods and such do you really need that? I use this for my job and it has never been wrong by more than half of a block and 95% of the time it is right on the $$$. Without a doubt Garmin is one of the best in navigation and the nuvi series is Excellent. I love that I can step out of my vehicle and slip this in my pocket. I also am very impressed with the great LCD display and definitely it's ease of use.

Great Item to have for so many reasons

This thing is ready to go as soon as you get into your car. We got one for one car and ended up getting a second for the other car. It holds pictures, so it can be used as a photo album also. There are many destinations programmed in, but they are as up to date as the maps. We've found a couple places that are not on the maps, but we just made them favorites and kept going. I really like that it will tell you how long it will take to get to where you are going. The kids like watching the map change, and listening to the directions. The little guy will repeat 'turn right' or 'turn left' until I actually make the turn.

    A life saver

I bought this after my Garmin 300 was stolen (sob!) so I learned my lesson. I basically am 100% satisfied. But, since I'm writing a review, I'll mention a few things. (1) the directory of businesses is a nice feature, but completely out of date and/or inaccurate. (2) misses some good shortcuts, some of which avoid heavy traffic and others are just shorter routes. (3) doesn't stick too well in my windshield. (4) I have a hard time setting a new route if a road is blocked, etc. How do you say "take me a different way?". But don't get me wrong, this has really saved my skin every day in a new town, just wonderful.

I was a little hesitant to make such a large purchase, but this product is diffinently worth it. I drive a lot and its nice to know that I never have to worry about getting lost again. I also love the all the places that the navi has stored in it already. This product is very easy to use, the voice is clear when giving directions, though sometimes it can be a bit confusing like when exiting from a highway. But once you get use to that it ok. My only real complaint is that navi won't tell you what street you are looking for, only where and when to turn, sometimes making it difficult to figure out where to turn. But overall this is a great product.

I bought my GPS in July 2008 because I needed to go out of town to take a scehduled examination for my job. I left early just incase I might have trouble finding the location. I arrived 30mins before my examination start time because the directions were right on the money. Since then I rely on my GPS to take me whereever I have never been before. Its portability is also another assest since I travel often for my job. As a female I recommend this unit to all females to have these days, saves you getting out of the car to ask directions or needing to make a call when your cell phone reception make be gone.

This item is great for the price. I live in the woods with hardly no cell phone service and my Garmin works great and picks up service right away! This item is definitly worth every penny paid. It is sooo easy to use, self explanatory. No directions needed at all. All I did was turn it on and it was ready to be used. It sits beautifully in the vehicle and securely. I would recommend this item to everyone. My husband purchased a Garmin for $500.00 dollars and I paid $199.99 and you can't even notice the difference they both work as good. But of course I have the better price for just as good item! Go get it, it is going like hot cakes!
