I was gifted with this Garmin before taking a really long trip, and it was awesome to have. My college son has an older version, and this is easier to use, specifically the typing. I also like the mounting system, which is very secure. I traveled through four states and back without worrying about getting lost, and was notified of upcoming traffic delays due to construction. I really don't think I will ever go back to being without a Garmin Nuvi. My only issue was that I needed to drop a friend off at a MAJOR international airport in a county other than where we were staying, but it was not listed under the "Transportation" drop-down choices until I was actually in the county where it's located. Obviously I knew the general direction of where I needed to go and there were road signs, but there was also another local non-international airport with the same city name located nearby. Just a minor confusion and requirement of common sense (never a reliable thing with me!) which could also have been completely my fault for never reading the instructions.

Recently purchased this to do a bit of traveling. So far it has been perfect - especially helpful when showing you the roads coming up & which lanes to be in! It also lets you know when there is traffic ahead and how much time it'll add on.

I wanted a gps with lots of features at a great price and this one fits the bill perfectly. It does quite a bit on its own and lots more when bluetoothed to your smart phone. The only drawback it has is its battery doesn't last much more than an hour. Other than that I would recommend it to my friends.

Test it on the road that I already familiar with. The directions were very accurate. On the return trip I went on a different route than directed and the Garmin quickly transitioned giving new directions without hesitation. Good buy.

My new GPS ,2517 LMT is so easy to use, It is a good thing since the instructions do not come with it, I tried to download the manual and could not get it. Had to order a printed one and pay another $11.00 , Best buy geeks helped me while I await the manual. So far, so good. Larger screen really is nice.

I love this GPS. I have always been a fan of Garmin since it came out. The beauty of this one is that it gives the street name, the number of feet, and most important to me...which lane(s) to be in. It also easy to use. Just be sure to connect it to a computer and update the maps as soon as possible.

I put my original Garmin NUVI 5 inch LMT in a safe place. Except now I can't remember where that safe place is. So I bought this NUVI 2597LMT as a replacement. I travel by car up and down the West Coast with the Garmin as well as a TomTom. They both have their advantages and disadvantages. I like the 2597 because it allows a "Portrait" view which allows me to see far ahead on the screen. It also has lifetime updates and live traffic updates. Used the live traffic updates going through Portland (OR), Sacramento (CA), Olympia (WA) and Seattle (WA). I like the little gizmo in the upper right hand corner that shows which way "North" is when using Track Up view. My Old NUVI didn't have that. For the price, this is a good, functional GPS.

This is a mid line gps Garmin unit. Their model lines tend to be rather confusing, to say the least. This doesn't appear to be among the newest models, but it has most of the same features, and works pretty well. The only things negative that I would say about it is that it struggles if you input a destination that is only a short distance from your location. A couple of evenings ago, we were having trouble finding a location in the dark that was within a block of our position in a shopping/entertainment district. It appears that it does not update quickly enough for these fine types of location activities. For everyday location tasks it does pretty well. Voice searches sometimes work well and sometimes not. The update process is fairly seamless, although it does not work with android. Key reasons to buy this unit are the free lifetime maps and traffic updates.

Brand new but still not recent updated info. Bigger screen than my old gps. Overall I like it. and easy to use. When I went to store to buy it, the price was more than when I looked it up on that stores web page. They changed the price for me, but way was it higher??? If I didn't ? it they would have charged me more.

Features I like: Shows the name of road you are on. Shows and gives audible warnings of school zones when they are active. Large screen shows much detail. Route directions are given in a useful and audibly pleasant format and use road route signs rather than local street names. "Voice command" input is a safer way to program a route when underway once you learn the input menu. Features I don't like: Is not as easy to navigate menus as the Nuvi 1390 I have. Does not simultaneously show trip info like time of arrival, time to destination, distance to destination, altitude, etc.--you must choose only one of those parameters at a time. Does not highlight excessive speed in large, bold red script like the Nuvi 1390 does. Is difficult to save points of interest. Microphone is not sensitive enough to avoid talking very loudly to navigate the menus with "voice command". Points of interest listings are not completely up to date (It couldn't find a certain restaurant or a fabric store, each from popular chains, and each of which had been in their present locations for more than two years.) If this unit combined its best features with those best features of the Nuvi 1390, it would be ideal.

I purchased this GPS to replace my old outdated unit. The old unit did not have the updating features. This unit is great, gives good directions like turn right just pass the CVS store. Love the lifetime updates and very easy to use. Also, like that it includes maps for Canada.

I got this GPS for my travel needs and it surprised me how easy it is to use the voice command to find places or make call! Also the cell phone app (if the gps does not find a place you go to the phone app and send the location to the GPS via bluetooth and done!) so cool!

Recently purchased and have been using for about 4 weeks after moving to new city. Service reception is outstanding, Unit powers on instantly - no waiting. Lane assist feature is very nice, especially in metro area. Traffic updates are accurate and timely, with useful rerouting options. Screen size is just right - not too small or big. Portability between vehicles is easy.

I love my GPS. It's so easy to use, clear to see and gets me where I'm going. Has a lot of extras, too. Shows me where all the rest stops are when I'm on a highway and would rather not get off the road.
