I'm horrible with directions, so now i use my nuvi every day and it really helps!
the unit is small itself but with a very large, very responsive touch screen. it has tons of points of interest so you can pretty much find anything and any place you are looking for. its so much fun to play with and it really doesn't let you get lost, if you go of route, it very quickly reroutes you to get you where you need to go. I'm very happy with my nuvi and would probably be lost without it (no pun intended).
note: a restocking fee is only applied to this return if the product is NOT defective or if you don't want an exchange for something else.

The only good thing about this GPS is the design of the housing and the display. Operation of the unit is fairly intuitive, which is good, because it doesn't come with an owners manual or USB cord. Can't even register the unit without a USB cord. It doesn't recognize numbered highways and you can not change a route when it screws up. POIs are very limited. I returned it and got a TomTom and am very pleased with it.

I bought this item to help me relocate from Minneapolis, MN area to the eastern shore of VA. This item made the trip wicked easy. Only issue I had was being able to tell it I wanted to go from point a - point b with brief stops at c, d, & e along the way. Found it easier to go from beginning to first stop, reset home then go to next stop, etc. Also would have liked to see a feature for trip planning before you actually want to start driving.
Overall though great item, great price, and has saved my "man points" many times so far.
Now just have to keep the girlfriend from swiping it. :-)

This GPS was a great buy for the price offered by Best Buy. It has a very good feature set and works as advertised. It was easy to setup and is easy to use. My buying experience with Best Buy online was very good.

Great first time GPS

I received this GPS for Christmas 2008. Although I wanted the 255W, this unit does everything I need. The only difference is spoken street names. The 205W seems very accurate and is fun to use on road trips. I've only had one instance of the unit not getting the satellite signal, and it was during a very heavy rainstorm.
NOTE: Be sure to get all the latest updates from Garmin, especially if you are having trouble with satellite reception. Garmin has a very easy wizard that you download onto your PC to update your unit.

I bought this unit because it seemed to be the best thing for the price that I could find with several key features I liked. However, the features seem to be more limited than I had hoped once I started using it.
The reception is terrible, and in many cases, it can take forever to acquire satellites. It is like this in the countryside, and in the city as well, it just never seems to get a good reception, and when it does, it takes a long time to get the reception.
I have also had trouble downloading map updates, unit freezing and so on. When I bought it, I received free map updates for a limited time, but during that time, not one update was really offered. There have been major road changes since I bought the device (and since it was made, for that matter) that still have not been updated on the site. Now, be prepared to pay $70 for a one-time update, or $100 or so (sorry I can't remember the exact amount) for up to 4 a year. If there are updates, they seem to be outdated by the time they are available...at least in ares where I have used the device.
This thing has never really served any real purpose for me. I usually end up using maps and directions the old-fashioned way,

I am afraid of anything electronic and was surprised when I received this item as a gift from someone who knows me well. He was right, as it turned out, because I love my GPS and wouldn't leave home without it! It is user-friendly, and I can easily find a specific address or a list of destinations by category. I use Elfred (an elf from the Christmas themes) as my guide, and he keeps me entertained as well as on the right path. I love this elf!

We just love this GPS. For the price, you are getting more than what you pay for. It is so easy and fun to use, I use it even if I already know where I am going. I like to hear it talk! I read reviews on other brands, but they were not that good, everyone seemed to recommend the Garmin 205W. Mounting is easy and you can buy additional mounts for multiple vehicles. All in all, we love this product and highly recommend!

I bought this unit at Best Buy for $159. Very simple to use. I hooked it up and used the quick start guide and off I went. Batery Life might be a litle short I don't see that as a problem. Wide screen is easy to see. As for the USB cable I used the one from my camera. I did find a bean bag mount for $30.00 A litle bit pricey, Easier to remove from my vehicle and doesn't leave suction marks on my windshield

Quick and Strong Satellite Reception

I have used various other GPS's and Garmin is by far the best in my experience. It very quickly acquires satellites and begins navigation. Intuitive user functions. Suction cup windshield mount very effective. If you have trouble with it coming "unstuck," just make sure the windshield and suction cup are clean and try again.

My husband got this for me for Christmas. I have used it for over a month now with absolutely no issues. So glad that I got this Garmin!! Wide screen is great, too. I also love the feature that you can insert an SD memory card and look at the pictures as a slide show. I would definitely recommend this and I already have!!!!

I love my Garmin 205W. I used it as we visited family out of town. As I traveled to Houston from Lindale it kept telling me to turn around (wanted me to go via Dallas) but all you do is hit detour and it recalculated the trip. Also, you need a mini USB cable to connect the Garmin to your computer. I have a Canon Sure Shot camera and am able to use the same cable from my camera for my Garmin. YEAH! I looked for days at all the reviews on the different choices for a GPS. I am one that gets lost on one way streets. I travel to Dallas often and since I am not from the area, I (was) afraid to travel but now I can travel with a new found confidence! It calculates time of travel and suggested time of arrival at your destination. Shows you the speed limits as you travel, as well as your vehicle speed, major intersections....I could go on and on about all the pluses and I have only had it two days.

Got the 205W to replace a 200W that my wife decided she liked in her car more than mine. I liked the 200 except for the boot-up times, but the 205W is a far better unit at a cheap price.
It's ready to navigate by the time the main screen comes up vs having to wait up to several minutes, and it holds a signal MUCH better than the 200W.
For example, I put it near a window to get a signal in a place where the 200W had never gotten one. Then I proceed to walk around deeper in my 3 story office building and never lost the signal.
One other feature that was nice was the "where am I?" feature. Very handy.
Maybe I had a bad 200W unit, but this one blows it away.
The only bad "feature" is the battery life of the unit. I averaged 5 hours on the 200W, but the 205W barely makes 3.5. Wish that was better, but overall it's a great buy, especially since I got it on sale.

In my book nothing is perfect but my mother. Once in a while the GPS will turn off and I will have to reprogram ware it is that I am going. It does not seem to have this issue often I would have to say once out of every 30 times that I use it but over all it is a very good product and would buy again.

I have a 1998 Nissan Frontier. And If you are unlucky to have one you would know you can not get a replacement for a speedometer. The speedometer on this thing is a dream. Thank YOU Garmin for even thinking of putting that on there. Oh yeah the rest of it works awsome too!

I love my Nuvi 205W. This is the first GPS I have ever owned, so I was uncertain about what to expect. This unit is both accurate and affordable (less than the higher end 255w model...the ONLY difference is that it says street names). I'm new to the area, and it has made me much more confident. I take my Garmin on all road trips as well!
The only thing I can say against it is that I wish it would automatically update maps, since it does not pick up many new streets. Also, it would be better if the battery life was longer. Still great though, definitely a good investment.

Worked okay out of the box. Easy to figure out and use. Then I tried to update the maps. In a word, disaster! I'll spare you all the details, but allow me to say their tech support might only be good if you have several days to spend on the phone. If they would have spent the cost of 4 hours worth of tech support on the product, they may not need tech support so badly. I'm done with this thing. Back to Best buy for something different.
