Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the vívofit Fitness Band + Heart Rate's accurate heart rate monitor, ease of use, and long battery life. Many appreciate the step and sleep tracking capabilities, along with its water resistance. However, some users wish it had a backlight and find the app less intuitive than others. The device's size was also noted as somewhat bulky by a few customers.

Thank you for your feedback. The vívofit is a basic activity tracker, providing steps, distance, calories burned, and heart rate. To optimize accuracy on the vívofit, you will want to make sure your personal information (including age, weight, height, activity level, step/run length, training zones etc.) are entered correctly via your device/user settings on Garmin Connect and have been synced to the device. The vívofit does not use GPS, so it relies on your arm movement to determine steps. Calories are calculated based on your BMR (non-active calories) plus your active calories (from steps and distance, also heart rate if wearing a heart rate monitor). Discrepancies in step count, such as false steps or added steps, are explained in more detail at the FAQ link below:

This product does not link automatically to its online account each day, so you must manually link it each night or the data is lost. Tracking data is all this product does to develop a pattern and see progress, adding this additional step makes it more of a chore than a convenient way of viewing progress

I bought this tracker for my daughter as a gift after reading all the reviews & I thought that it was a good alternative for fitbit & it was a total bust. My daughter was resting & the heart rate monitor was saying that her HR was over 180. I would recommend that if you're interested in accuracy to just go for the Fitbit it may be worth the extra money.

When I ordered this item it was for the heart rate monitor. Not knowing it was a separate piece to be worn. I am not very happy and it should be more clear in the description that it is separate

While Garmin does offer devices with built in optical heart rate monitors, the vivofit does not have this feature and is not advertised as such. If you desire that functionality, we recommend exploring our other product offerings to see if there is one that will fit your needs better.

Also, our product support team (www.garmin.com/support) is available to answer any product questions you may have.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Display broke after 24 days and Best Buy nor Garmin will replace it. The app is also not very detailed. Not worth the money. I purchased the bundle.

Very pleased with this. I don't wear the chest band all day long just during exercise and parts of the day. I like how I can see my sleep too. It seems accurate. I would recommend this to anyone else looking for basic info on their health. I like syncing up with the phone. Also there are YouTube videos for instructions. Nice.

    Not so good

I was so excited to strap this bad boy onto my arm and was sadly disappointed. I found it to be uncomfortable, kind of ugly and incomplete. The app is awful (compared to others). Unless you go to bed at the exact same time every night, the sleep function is a joke. The app needs a serious face lift. Perfect example of an app being designed by a computer tech, not a user! I found myself having to re-synch multiple times. You have to wear the chest strap to get your pulse...really?? The UP app is really intuitive, it's a nice alternative.

We appreciate your feedback. Garmin Connect had a lot of updates recently, including a re-design. There is now a sleep detection feature that doesn't require you to place the device into sleep mode. The app will simply search for a sleep period and sync the hours. While the vívofit requires a Heart Rate Monitor, we have the vívosmart HR which takes HR from the wrist. This is a great option for our customers that do not want to use the band. ~QKO Garmin

    Less than impressed

I've had the garmin & HRM for almost a week now. The HRM is not at all reliable, it keeps disconnecting from the garmin watch. It would have been nice to have a timer/stop watch programmed into the watch as well. I had to start using my fitness pal for my exercise & calorie tracker, this program doesn't have any special features worth writing home about and I still have yet to see certain data (calories in/out) sync with the garmin app as it's supposed to. If I still had the packaging I would probably be taking it back.

For the price, it is worth it. We have family challenges to keep us all moving. This is the earlier model so although you can sync with Garmin Connect, doesn't have all the features of the newer models, such as changing exercise mode, and tracking exercise. This one also doesn't have back light.
