Mainly as a pedometer . It does not count when you go up the stairs ! & sometimes you take one step & it counts 3! But that's not all the problem, after 10 months the screen went half black ! Gone! I called the manufacturer after sending the defected one they sent me a refurbished one . Good so far , right? By the way ,Some of my friends recommended not to let water get on it , while it says water resistant ! Which I did not use around water ! But in less than 3 months this one is the same & is not showing half of the screen ! I am giving up , not buying anything from Garmin again !

The vívofit is not designed to track stairs or floors climbed. It looks for a natural walking movement to determine if a step has been taken. Solid but not good enough
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my wife as a present and she really wasn't feeling it after she was having problems setting and syncing it up, but If that could get fixed or was easier, I think the product was pretty cool other than that! Compatibility is a huge factor though... and her iPhone 6 was having problems connecting so I don't know. Hope this helps!
