I was hoping that my daughter could mark off her chores on the tracker. But I had to login to give her points and let her see the screens. It doesn't allow her to mark anything. It pretty much a glorified watch and step tracker at a high price.

Hi Wellburnt, Thank you for reviewing the vivofit jr. and for your feedback. Due to the size of the screen a phone is required in order to view and mark off completed chores. We do appreicate all the customer feedback. This information is used to make changes or improvements to future products. Any other ideas that you have can be submitted to www.garmin.com/ideas. I got this for my daughter because she loves to earn rewards with chore charts, and I thought it would simplify her life if it was in digital form. But she had to use the app on my phone to mark the chores completed. We returned the watch.

We purchased this for our 8yr old. It would not fit her wrist, it was too small. I did have to upgrade to a Fitbit. But was wanting to use this as a starter, needless to say it didn't work. Besides the size it would of been great for her.

    Rash on wrist from Garmin

My 8 year old wanted the Garmin for Christmas. Within several days of wearing it he broke out into a rash just where the wrist band was. He didn’t have any known allergies before this so it was a surprise to us. We took a picture of the rash and even brought our son in to show the manager his wrist. They refunded our purchase with no hassle.

Excellent product, just a little $$$

My girls love it. They're 8, and have small wrists, so it really fits perfect. They have to stretch it to put it on, but once it's one it's a little lose - but not enough to fall off (and they're active!). The app is nice, they like that I can add their chores. Overall we love it, they're having a great time with it. $79 just seems a little much for it being such a simple product/app, only reason I gave it 4 stars.

Face of product is not durable

I read several different reviews on various products and loved this one the most by far. My 5 year old loves the chore list and she is recognizing numbers and time so much better. I am disappointed though that 4 days after she got it she was playing outside and another child threw a ball to her and it hit her wrist on top of the band and cracked the face. Really? I did not purchase the warranty but when I called was told it wouldn't have mattered that "normal wear" was not covered. So although your child can bathe and sleep in it you might be cautious of having them actually play with it on.

Did not fit my 9 year old

As much as I loved the idea of this, as did my 9 year old son, it did not fit him. We did plenty of research on fitness trackers and was excited to find one geared for kids. When he tried it on it was too snug for him and he said it was uncomfortable. My son has a very slender build to him. Unfortunately, it had to go back. He loved the idea of earning and the settings on this as well as you can wear it swimming! I know that you can buy a regular wrist band accessory to replace the band with if that helps anyone, I just did not want to spend more money than I should have on this item. I gave it only 3 stars for all of the great things this tracker could've done for us.

Bought this for my son for Christmas. It's great and he loves it, but it's already blacking out!! He hasn't even had it a month and it's already malfunctioning. You can only see half of the screen and it's bugging him because he can't see his coins, time, etc....Is anybody else having issues with their watch?? Can I return it to BestBuy or do I need to send it to Garmin??

Thank you for your review. We are glad to see that your son is liking his vivofit jr. We did want to address the concern that you had with it tracking steps while in the car. This device uses accelerometers in the module to track steps. There are instances where if the device is moving in a similar manner to the arm motion of walking or running then steps will be recorded on the device. Thanks again for your review. -JFH Garmin

We got this for our 9 year old. Decent idea poorly executed. The device has a hard time synching to get coins. It has a bit of a childish look to it. And, after just 6 months, the battery went. They advertise that the battery lasts a year, but it doesn't come even close. The same was true for the one our niece had. Of course, the materials on the band aren't great either, and by it got to be 6 months old, all the graphics were pretty much worn off and it looked like crap. I hear fitbit has a new kid version - might be a better option.

I am sad that I cannot give the Vivofit Jr. zero stars. The first one I had worked for 2 weeks. I was able to exchange it for a new one which worked for about 4 days. I replaced the battery which fixed the problem for another 4 days. I checked the warranty and discovered that I can send it to Garmin to be fixed as long as I pay for shipping. It makes no sense that they sell worthless products and then expect you to pay more so they can "fix" it. As a side note, I have a Vivofit HR which works nicely as a way to see texts on my wrist but is terrible for fitness tracking. I will never buy another Garmin product.

We bought this for our 9 year old grandson and imagine his disappointment when he opened it on Christmas Eve (last night) and he was initially so excited, then discovered the band wouldn't even fit a newborn. I noticed today, when I looked this product up, there was a choice between small & medium. It wasn't offered when I ordered. I also saw a review voicing the same complaint as ours.

The stretchy band is recommended for kids, ages 4-7. The band stretches to comfortably fit a wrist 147 mm in circumference.
