Customers frequently mention the positive aspects of the Vivosmart Activity Tracker, particularly praising its heart rate monitor, battery life, and notification features. Many users also appreciate its ease of use and water resistance for swimming and other activities. However, some customers express concerns about the display's readability in sunlight and occasional syncing issues. A few also note challenges with the accuracy of step tracking.

The Garminvivosmart is lightweight, not bulky and easy to understand. It motivates you to move and tracks sleep patterns. It will sync to your cell phone with the data. Good price.

I bought this because it is water resistant. I live and work on a dairy farm everyday. I still have problems with the settings on it. I figured out how to do the goals, etc and it keeps making them higher. I had it set to show me my sleep patterns but now it won't do it again. I am not tech savvy so I have been to Best Buy for help a few times to get it set up.

This product is good for a basic tracker. I didn't like it at all for my workouts. I suggest something else for those who workout a lot.

I use this daily to track workouts and all other activity. Mi use it also when kayaking and it counts paddle strokes as steps. It plays well with my iPhone 6 and my computer. It is waterproof to fifty meters so I can also swim with it and dive off rocks into lakes here in Montana

    Thankful I picked this one!

First off, I'd like to state this is my very first activity tracker (besides a basic pedometer I wear for work benefits). I also want to state I did A TON of research because I felt this was a major purchase and I didn't want to buy something that wouldn't hit every possible reason behind me wanting something like this. I mainly weighed between this, the vivofit 2, and the fitbit charge HR. The whole point in wanting an activity tracker was where I could monitor my heart rate during my workouts and making sure I was getting the most out of my time in the gym. I started off wanting one that I wouldn't have to wear outside of the actual tracker (fitbit charge hr) but the more I researched the more I began to realize I didn't need to know my heart rate 24/7. And I am so happy I went with an exterior monitor. I can't tell I have it on during my workouts and it reads as accurately, if not better, than the elliptical/treadmill/bike I use at the gym. Key note for newbies: always make sure you dampen the back of the monitor and your skin because the monitor will not read until you get all sweaty and that defeats the purpose of even wearing one at all. My next point in shopping for an activity tracker was sleep monitor. I wanted to be able to tell exactly how much I move at night. This thing gives minute by minute movement and you have the option of turning on the sleep mode or, if you are forgetful like me, it will automatically register your lack of activity. (You can also go in and adjust your actual time if you are like me and wind down by reading a book or watching a little tv before going to sleep) The app. The app is okay. It was the one thing I read in the reviews I thought I'd for sure have a problem with due to everyone's opinions of the lack of the apps features. It has all the basic information anyone really needs for this type of thing with no bells or whistles. It also doesn't auto sync when the app isn't open. To be honest, I like the fact you have to sync it when you open the app rather than the info automatically being on there. I feel with technology these days, we all want our battery life to be the best it can be and if you have a tracker that is auto syncing at certain intervals it would be more likely to run the tracker's battery and your phone battery down. Speaking of battery life, mine has lasted 10 days. I have only charged it twice in the 4 weeks I've had it. My main selling points for choosing this tracker. 1) It is WATERPROOF! Every other tracker I reviewed said they were water resistant. This was the only one I was fully confident in using for kayaking, the pool, beach, etc. Now I don't wear it in the shower simply because I don't wear any jewelry/bracelets at that time but I'm confident I could if I wanted to. I have submerged it doing dishes and it is just fine. 2) It is a lot sleeker than the others. I have a few friends that have the Charge and it is bulky on smaller wrists. (I wear a size 6 bracelet) I also read the Charge looks and fits more like a watch and is more committal on the size options . I wasn't buying this for the watch feature because I own a nice watch that I wear daily. I can wear this and the watch on the same wrist and it doesn't look awkward or bulky and it feels normal next to one another. I also like that the strap has a lot more adjustment options. I can wear it tighter, slightly loose, or really loose. 3) The phone notifications are a nice feature that I didn't have to have and was worried I would get annoyed with them but I like it now. I can turn off the bluetooth on the tracker and that eliminates the notifications. Now, I feel no tracker is going to be absolutely 100% wonderful and great and have zero cons. So onto my cons. You have to double tap the top to activate the screen (it has an option to turn the screen on for all the time use). Sometimes there is a lag in this and sometimes there isn't any lag. I guess it just depends on how firm you tap the screen or if you are moving (working out). Either way the screen has never failed me, just taken a few times to get it to show up. I've noticed since the last update that it has been lagging less so maybe this is a bug they are attempting to fix. Movement reminder feature is great for reminding if I have been stagnant for too long but more than a few times it has told me to MOVE! when I just sat down. That is probably the most annoying thing and the only thing I can't blame on operator error. Finally, this is the most expensive out of all the trackers I reviewed but, in my opinion, once you throw in the HRM and the extra features this thing has (again, waterproof) it is entirely worth the money. The pros outweigh the cons more than I would imagine the others I compared and researched on.

I fell in love with this tracker but a week later I noticed that if I just moved my wrist back and fourth my steps increased imensely. Nothing else really matter after that; I'm waiting patiently for the Jawbone up3 to come out.

We appreciate your feedback Kay, and wanted to address your issue.

Like many activity Trackers, the vívosmart has sensors that are designed to detect natural movement like walking or running. It can detect a repetitive walking motion as steps. like moving your wrist, or arm, in the same manner as you would while walking.
Occasionally certain movements may mimic a similar motion and cause the device to accumulate a few steps. This could include:

*Driving a vehicle (usually due to rough terrain)
      *Taking a shower
      *A restless night of sleep
      *Brushing your teeth

The vívosmart does work very well at giving an overall snapshot of daily activity. Your daily step trends and goals should not be significantly affected by these extra counted steps.

Though it's possible it could record some steps if moving your arm or wrist repetitively, it should not record and immense amount of steps, as you've described. If this is still occurring, please visit http://j.mp/GRMNSupport, and contact us, so our tech support team look into this, and help you out with it.
Thanks again for your review. *CG Garmin
