I just purchased this item & absolutely love it! It sounds silly, but I love that it tells me to MOVE after an hour of sitting at my desk. I need to make sure I'm moving all day long & not just sitting down working. I also love that it increases your goal of steps you need to take everyday. I feel like I need to exceed it and I actually choose to go the long way now. It's a great product!

I'm bummed out about this. I was excited to charge it up, get it set up, and put it on my wrist. About an hour later, I couldn't figure out why I couldn't see the whole screen. Maybe it wasn't charged all the way I thought. But then I read the reviews, and many others had this problem. So I ended up just returning it.

Overall a very well designed activity tracker. Garmin connect works well and everything is well integrated when using a Mac. Battery life is fair and does require charging every 48 to 72 hours depending on use.

Worked great for about 9 months, then it stopped being able to charge, was still under warranty, so Garmin sent me a new one, nice and smooth process, but within 6 months the new vivosmart display lost pixels, one row at a time. Had to guess what was displayed from just top half. Unreadable. Now have an Apple Watch

The only thing I enjoyed about this was when I could not find my phone, I could push a "button" and it would find my phone for me. I am a active runner however this was not useful at all for me during runs. I could not read it in the sun, so I had no idea what any of my states were during my run. However if you are a walker, or just starting out trying to lead a healthy life then I could see how this would be helpful

Regarding the screen brightness, the vívofit's display can be adjusted using the steps found at http://bit.ly/1rq3LKF. It also features an auto-bright display setting, which allows your device to maximize the screen brightness during a timed activity.

I've had the Fitbit Flex for over a year now and have had to have it replaced within the warranty time twice. The first time it was because the tracker wouldn't charge, and the second time the battery gave out and wouldn't last longer than 3 hours. I got really sick of the fitbit and wanted to try something that could give me a more accurate calorie burn based on heart rate. I did A LOT of research on all the options out there before choosing the vivosmart. I was nervous because its such a new product and the reviews on here are less than fantastic. When I received it (Best buy got it to me SUPER FAST by the way) I had some trouble pairing it to my iPhone 4S but that was not because of the vivosmart. The instructions provided are just less than stellar. They're inadequate really. If I have any bad things to say about this product, it is ONLY that Garmin needs to write a better users manual. Once I figured out how to pair it to my phone, its been smooth sailing from there. The heart rate monitor works great. I wish the back strap could be made even smaller as it gets kind of loose on me when I'm moving around, but i just tuck it under my bra to keep it in place. The app and the website for garmin connect are awesome! I love all the features it has and for the most part, it communicates well with MFP. I'm not crazy about the fact that i have to turn bluetooth on/off in order to sync it to my phone BUT it really does save the battery so I'm ok with it. I have had it for about 2 weeks now and I have not had to charge it ONCE! I wear it all day, every day and I workout every day. I put it on the charger for a short time in the morning when I shower and that has kept me from having to fully charge it at all since I've had it. This is a BIG change from the fitbit that I LOVE! I'm sure some of you have had issues using it but I strongly suggest that it is user error or you got a dud because I LOVE this product all around. It does a lot of awesome things and I don't even use it all. The screen is a big complaint by people on here but lets get real guys, the ONLY problem is that its hard to see in the sun because of the glare. Big deal...just put your hand over it so you can see it and move on. The positives about this product are far greater than the negatives. I have to hit it rather hard to wake it up to see things which looks silly but I'd prefer to do that than to have it turning on by itself left and right and draining the battery! If you want a product that does it all, go with the vivosmart!

I'm really sorry to hear you had trouble with the vívosmart's touchscreen. I can tell you that we did release a software update in September that helped improve responsiveness and sensitivity. This should prevent issues like the one you've described. If not, we'd definitely appreciate hearing from users experiencing any touchscreen problems so we can investigate: www.garmin.com/us/support Thank you! -JPKGarmin

Love my new vivosmart. Love that it gives you notifications. Syncs good with my iPhone 6. Also like the fact it syncs to myfitnesspal app. Keeps you moving throughout the day! The heart rate monitor is nice to use during cardio workouts. It was comfortable , didn't even notice I was wearing it.

I bought it as a Christmas gift for my wife, and she love it, is very nice, comfortable and work as expected, the battery charge last over a week, thevonly downside is an issue of the companion application which is not tracking your food calories from myfitnesspal application. I'm going to buy one for me as well.

    Disappointed

I loved the advertised features, but it left me so underwhelmed I returned it within a few days. Things I want in a smart fitness tracker: steps tracking; clock display; vibrating inactivity alert; sleep tracking; text, incoming call, and calendar notifications; in a sleek package that fits my small wrist. I don't care that much about heart rate, but this one happened to be on sale when I shopped. So, the vivosmart is supposed to have all of these things, but my experience included spotty syncing (example: the first night my sleep data didn't show up in the app until about noon the next day), a difficult display (I never got the hang of how to wake it up - I don't think I should have to work hard just to glance at the time), and only random success with receiving notifications (yes, even within consistent bluetooth range). This purchase was more of a fun-want than a required-necessity, and it just wasn't any fun. YMMV - and I hope it does if you do buy - but be cautious.

Thank you for taking time to review the vivosmart. While you already returned the unit, we did want to take the opportunity to address some of your concerns. If you are having syncing issues we encourage users to verify that vivosmart and Garmin Connect Mobile app are both up to date. There are have several software update to improve the Bluetooth feature of the vivosmart. The vivosmart software can be updated through the Garmin Connect Mobile app, or using Garmin Express on a computer. Garmin Express can be found at www.garmin.com/express.

The vivosmart also has a gesture feature that allows the screen to come on by raising your wrist. This would allow you to view the screen without needing to tap the display. The Auto-On Display setting can be adjusted in the Device Settings of Garmin Connect or Garmin Connect Mobile.
Garmin Customer Care would also be happy to assist with any other questions or concerns. Please contact us at www.garmin.com/support. Again, thank you for your feedback.

    Very Disappointed!

I have had enough!!! Several times a day I have to connect and sync my VivoSmart to my computer to transfer the data. I have a consistent issue with it pairing to my Droid phone. On more then one occasion I have had issues with the HRM not pairing with the wrist band. So now I have spent several hours trying to get the device to work and reading forms that do not help instead of working out! My phone did just do an update yesterday, but nothing seem to change! With the amount of money you have to pay for these devices you think they would work a little better!

Thank you for your review. A software update was released for both the vívosmart device, as well as the Android app, which improved bluetooth stability and addressed pairing issues you may have experienced. However, both the device itself, as well as the Android app, would have needed the updates in order to benefit from the changes.
      We do appreciate your feedback.
