With regard to your step/stair inaccuracies, it's possible for the device to record steps due to inaccurate detection of movement. Garmin Activity Trackers work very well at giving an overall snapshot of daily activity but there may be some instances in which the device may not function as intended.
Keeping the device software up to date is important as well, as updates are released periodically to improve the watch's functionality. Software updates can be done through Garmin Express, which can be downloaded here: http://software.garmin.com/en-US/express.html.

And one of the most important feature is adjusting brightness which was omitted by garmin ( this is not Best Buy fault) better do better next time garmin!

The vívosmart HR's battery can last up to 5 days on a full charge. Screen brightness, amount of notifications, and additional sensors can have an effect on the battery life.
For it being discharged so quickly, we'd ask that you please contact Garmin Customer Care so we can discuss your vívosmart HR more in depth.

Disappointed with Watch

My own personal experience has been extremely disappointing. With regular charging the battery as recommended and even took an extra layer of protection by avoiding water, it's still had a lot of problems crashing or malfunctioning. I have connected it to a PC to try to reset it as directed, I have charged it as directed, my last resort is sending it in to pay for a repair. My expectation was much higher for a quality product but unfortunately that is not what I received. It is currently sitting on my desk as a paperweight with a dark unresponsive screen.
