Definite Upgrade!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For anyone looking to upgrade from a vivofit and wanting the heartrate features...this is an intuitive, easy upgrade! Is this an iWatch? NO...but you are not shelling out $200-$250 more either! This is great for tracking your heartrate throughout the day & night and while the information on your heartrate is not EKG quality, it is still useful data and can be analyzed to inspect your HR during a workout...not just a full day readout. I'm loving it folks!

Great device worth the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It would have been the perfect device for me with the right balance between an activity tracker and basic features of a smartphone had it not been for two things - one, the software is a little buggy and second, I had an unfortunate incident of getting banned from their forum for "spamming" when I tried to list out the issues I had noticed. It was disappointing to see what happened. Anyways, I did like it very much and here is a brief review from my usage: Any optical heart rate monitor is not 100% accurate but I felt that this was better than Fitbit. Most of the times the reading was close to the heart rate that I measured manually. I also liked the feature where you get notified when you are idle for too long. It made me get up and move regularly during office hours. The notification features are really great, I can take a quick look at my wrist and not have to bother removing the phone from my pocket each time. It is really lightweight and the strap is too good. You hardly feel that you have an activity tracker on your wrist. Overall it is definitely worth the money and I do highly recommend this. But unfortunately I am going to return this to BestBuy because I do not find the behavior of garmin's forum unacceptable.

Posted .Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. First off, please let me apologize for the forum ban. If you were not engaging in spam-like behavior (and it sounds like you weren't), then this would have been unintentional. It's uncommon, but sometimes legitimate users get inadvertently banned during our spam clean-up. If you can send your forum username to [email protected], we can get you un-banned right away.
With that said, I'm glad to hear your glowing reviews of so many of the features of the vívosmart HR. As for the software being buggy, we'd appreciate an opportunity to hear specifically what you've experienced and see if we can't help resolve those issues. You can email these concerns to the same email address I provided earlier.
Thanks again for your feedback. -JPK

Some flaws but more features than most.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So 3 days in I realize that sometimes regardless of it being tight enough to leave an imprint in my skin it sometimes drops the ball on the actual heart rate. A small amount of movement allows it to start back accurately again, but it shows on graphs as a much lower average heart rate because of it. Other than that it works well for me. Notifications aren't quite as timely but do well for text and facebook. The Garmin Connect software has plenty of nooks and crannies with small features hidden about but overall hasn't given me sync issues or huge battery drains. Heart rate tracking is much more accurate when in a "run" or timed mode. Some of the features may be a bit over the top for some people compared to a more basic tracker like the UP Move or Misfit Shine, but I found it not to be too overbearing. Charge time is very low for a 3-4 day battery life. I usually get by on an hour or so off my wrist and charging. Uses MyFitnessPal for calorie tracking and the Garmin partner app ecosystem is, as far as I can tell, just MFP and Strava so far. Looking forward to more connectivity with a VIRB camera setup.

Love the Vivosmart HR
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had my vivosmart HR for about 3 weeks now. I love it enough to buy an additional one for my wife this week. It does all the things that I wanted it to do, including tracking steps, monitoring heart rate during workout, and of course telling time. Many other reviewers seem to be frustrated by the inaccurate heart rate monitor, but I think the problem is that those reviewers may not be aware that the heart rate monitor in its normal stage doesn't track the heart rate continuously, but rather periodically. To track heart rate continuously, the user needs to turn on the activity mode and start a run or cardio session. During the session the heart rate monitor is activated the whole time and shows the real time beat per minute. In other words, if the activity mode isn't turned on while you exercise, the monitor may only show the last reading from 10 minutes ago before you start working out and you would think it is inaccurate. I only found out about this fact after playing with the vivosmart HR for a few days. Once I sorted out how to use the heart rate monitor properly, I love it because it made my workout more effective as I can glance at my heart rate reading and know whether I am dogging it or pushing hard. I don't know how useful it is to have data about sleep pattern, but the vivosmart HR does track it and at least it is interesting to know which night I was staying up late or which night I got more than 8 hours of sleep. The vivosmart HR is very light and comfortable. I have no complaint wearing it all day and night. I recommend this vivosmart HR over Fitbit charger HR. Yes the Fitbit is prettier, but vivosmart HR is waterproof while Fitbit isn't. And vivosmart HR has a much bigger screen with notification and messages synch from your smart phone, but the Fitbit doesn't.

Exceeds expectations...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Vivosmart HR is my first activity tracker. I had been waiting for over a year for one that performed all the functions I wanted. The Fitbit Charge HR fitted my needs but I did not like the design, plus I am a Garmin user and I am very happy to be able to sync together my running and my activities and be able to see them in one place together. I am very happy with the HR monitor, being able to view my HR through the day and also my resting HR is very cool. The biggest surprise is the ability to view the weather! I had not read about that anywhere so I was surprised that it shows the current temperature and the forecast. I have not had problems with the App and Syncing. The sleep tracking is interesting and acceptable in my opinion. I have charged it 5 times so far. Every-time the charging last 5 days and I have charged after the battery sign was showing very low charge but it never powered off. So far, so good, I highly recommend this gadget!

Hits all right notes, just shy of being superstar
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased Vivosmart HR when it launched. I gave up a fitibit HR and chose this. Water proof is 5 star. Notifications and consistent connectivity with Garmin mobile app is 3.5 stars. (I feel it loses connection more than it should, even when phone is in proximity and repairing some times is a pain). Continuous connectivity really doesn't hinder any fitness tracking things, so its not a deal breaker to me. Where the watch lacks over fitbit is in the app division. Fitibit lets you pinpoint a particular point on fitness charts within the app, Garmin in very un-intuitive on phone, on website its good. There is too much going on in the app, which we don't need, it's not simple like Fitbit app. Two reasons i bought this device over fitbit is being water resistant and offering more connected notifications over fitbit charge HR and the fitbits band was also causing issues with my skin. This device feels plasticky but is accurate i can say in terms of measurements, there is always a give or take difference with a standard medical device for any tracker. I have used 4 brands, UP, Fitbit, MIsfit and Garmin, and i can say Garmin is my favorite in tracking. Battery life is about 4 days without putting it in workout modes everyday, when you put it once or twice in workout mode for about 40 mins a day, you get 2 days of battery life. The insights offered by app or not good and not that boosting your mood, fitbit and up will shine here, where they give us pointers on how we are progressing and what we should do.
