Better than Fitbit but......
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a good tracker. I wore this and the Surge together for 3 weeks. I like the water proof aspect and all the notifications. It doesn't always track my steps/movements. The move bar says move when I'm active. Very annoying. The step tracker was aloy lower than the Fitbit Surge. Neither was accurate. That's fine as it made me more active. The heart rate monitor is just okay :/ The main reason I dislike it is because about a year ago Garmin and Google announced a partnership. Garmin will sync with Google Fit. Well it doesn't and this is one of the primary reasons I purchased it. I will be returning for a Basis Peak! Keep your word Garmin!

Good Activity Band, but a few issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, the Garmin vivosmart HR is not my first activity band. I have a Misfit Shine, a Moov Classic, Moov Now, Withings Pulse Ox, and a Digi-Care ERI. The ERI was breaking down and I wanted an activity band that measured heart rate. The vivosmart HR and the Fitbit Charge HR were my top two choices after many hours of research online. I went with the vivosmart HR because of the waterproof value and the smart notifications. After several days and workouts, (mostly speed walks) I noticed that some of the features were not working as well as in the first few days. The big one was steps and distance. I know there is not a GPS on the vivosmart HR, but I would expect it to be close to my other devices in step counts and distance. On a confirmed 3.82 mile walk, the vivosmart HR came in at 2.81 miles. A whole mile off from the actually distance! Another walk proved to be just as disappointing in how many miles were logged. This time it was a 3.36 route that the vivosmart HR logged as 2.58. Yesterday’s walk was 3.88 and again the vivosmart HR was under at 2.95 miles. I know you can go into the Garmin Connect app online and edit the values, but I shouldn’t if the values are within reason. Notifications have suddenly stopped appearing on the vivosmart HR. At first, all of my email accounts were coming up on the vivosmart HR, and after the first day, I was able to turn off the notifications on my phone and get the notifications from the two email accounts I wanted to see. Yesterday, notifications were sporadic and none of my texts showed up on the vivosmart HR. Today, no notifications at all, even though I have gotten emails and texts all day. I tried resetting the vivosmart HR like the manual stated but still no notifications. I have also noticed that the silent alarm shuts off pretty easily if the screen is touched by anything else besides your finger. A couple of times I have accidentally brushed the vivosmart against the long sleeve of my sweatshirt and it shut off the alarm. I’m a little disappointed that you can only set one silent alarm on the vivosmart HR. I love the silent alarms and on my ERI, I could set over five silent alarms which I used all the time. Maybe Garmin can get that feature added in the next firmware/software update? There is a learning curve to the menus on the vivosmart HR and the Garmin Connect, but it is not hard once you get used to it. I like the vivosmart HR, but the problems I have already faced does not give me any confidence in the long term durability of the product.

Some Important Features Don't Work Well
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tried several smart watches/bands in the last month starting with the Apple Watch, then bands including Microsoft Band and then the Vivosmart Garmin bands. I was impressed at first with the Vivosmart HR. The first disappointment was at night with the very dim display. Would have thought the backlight would have helped but only adds marginally to the readability. Next was the vibration strength, which is interestingly is very good on the Vivosmart (without HR), but on this model, it is so weak you can't hardly feel it. For me that really makes the "smart" feature worthless. Last - a minor feature for me but I never could get the weather app to work - always showed waiting for data when paired with my iPhone 5s. On the plus side, the HR feature seemed to work well. I ultimately returned this model and went back to the Vivosmart which has a bright display and vibration you can easily feel.

Posted .Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear the vívosmart HR didn't work out for you, but would like to address your concerns for possible future customers.
The display brightness is designed with battery life in mind. That being said, the vívosmart HR does feature Auto Backlight. This allows the vívosmart HR to automatically turn on the backlight when you rotate your wrist toward your body. You can adjust this through the Garmin Connect website to always be enabled, only enabled during an activity, or disabled.
There are several factors which could affect the weather app functionality such as software versions and phone compatibility. To troubleshoot this, as well as to discuss the vibration intensity, please contact the Garmin customer care team via http://j.mp/GRMNSupport.

Very good Tracker, Alarm setting suck.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had the Garmin Vivosmart HR for about 2 week and I'm very pleased with its performance. After all the positive review and the fact its waterproof it was a no brainer. The only issue I have with it is that if you want to set the alarm you only have 2 setting, I would have given it a 5 star if you could customize each day of the week. Hopefully Garmin can fix this with a software update not everyone works Monday - Friday and has the weekend off.

Great Product but have a question for Garmin
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really really like this Garmin but would like to know how the intensity minutes are captured. I run, walk fast on a track and outdoors, do Zumba and no intensity minutes are captured. Are they captured by a certain level of heart rate? The low level minutes, in the Garmin connect notes, indicate brisk walking and high level is running or higher activity. Can this setting be adjusted? I don't understand, please let me know. I have a friend who returned hers for this reason. Please help - thank you

Love the Tracker .. wish they carried XL size
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.so far really liking the tracker ... first time this morning my hr didn't seem to be registering correctly. Do wish it had some different activity trackers then just "run". also still have yet to get the "intensity" tracking to do anything? I don't get that as the workouts I do have quite a bit of intensity to them. BIGGEST thing for me though is I really could use the XL size version of this and Best Buy doesn't carry them. Garmin has them on their website buy when I called them .. was told the product is a Best Buy exclusive right now. SO WHERE ARE THE XL sizes Best Buy????

In order to achieve credit towards your weekly goal you must complete moderately intense activities (such as a jog or run). By doing so, the vivosmart HR will detect your elevated heart rate. Activities that count towards your goal need to be at least 10 consecutive minutes long. I like the band...HR is awful and fog under scree.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I should have listened to other reviews, but I was hoping maybe there was an update or something that would fix the issues. First I love the band, it's very comfortable, and it counts steps very well, also it has great battery life (but I do leave the HR off unless I workout and I dont use the other "smart " features). Now the bad, the HR!!! I can be busting my butt and it stays at 72 bpm or so..then I can barely be moving and it jumps to 170 bpm! I know these are not super accurate but please be somewhat right some of the time.I get so frustrated with it, I can workout for an hour and a half and it will say only I burned 315 calories... The stairs are not accurate at all, it will say I have climbed 50 flights and decended 22.. When really I get maybe 10-15 flights a day. Then it says you can swim with it and Ive only worn it in the shower and it has the fog under the screen! This was a total loss for me and I am mad that Best Buy only gives a 15 day return policy it should be atleast 30 especially if its defective( the fog under screen) . Its too bad because I always thought Garmin was a good company, but now Im not so sure and the return process seems like a huge pain! I guess I'll just stop using the HR feature all together and hope the fog goes away. I wonder if Garmin would let me switch it out for the one without the HR ? I really want to like it!!!
