Does not meet my expectations
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. On 1/18/2017 I submitted a request to Garmin Customer Service regarding the accuracy of stairs climbed on my device. While I got a response, it was an excuse for the inaccurate measurements. i have gotten so frustrated with the inacuracy that I have eliminated the stair climbing goal and turned off the display on the device. This is a replacement device for one that was returned under warranty for the exact same issue. I received my original device in 8/2016 and after a couple of months submitted a concern to customer service about erratic and inaccurated heart rate measurments while working out. I, also, got explanations for why it was inacurate but no resolution of my concern. I am experiencing the same heart rate inaccuracy issues with this replacement device, so I have to believe it is the product not the specific device that is falling short of my expectations for accuracy. I got this device to monitor my heart rate while working out, but as it turns out it is really useless for that purpose. If I could return this device today for even half of what I paid for it, I would not hesitate to do so. That is how disappointed I am in the performance of the Vivosmart HR.

Posted .Thank you for your review.
We're sorry to hear about the trouble you've had with the heart rate accuracy on your vívosmart HR, and we're very surprised to hear you didn't receive a response. I'm including a link for Garmin's product support below. Please check to ensure you were reaching out to Garmin directly. Although you bought a different brand, I did want to address your concerns for other readers.
The optical heart rate sensor uses light to penetrate your skin and estimate your heart rate. This allows you to get heart rate information without the need for an external sensor. To ensure the best possible accuracy, Please follow the below guidelines:
* Ensure the device is snug tight to the point it cannot move up and down your wrist but not so tight as to limit circulation
* Wear watch on outside of wrist, away from wrist bone
* Avoid wearing it over dark tattoos
* Ensure watch software is up to date (update with Garmin Express, if needed)
* Ensure green lights (LED's) are functioning
The optical wrist heart rate monitor for Garmin wearables is a valuable tool that can provide an accurate estimation of the user’s heart rate at any given point in time. The optical heart rate monitor is designed to attempt to monitor a user’s heart rate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The frequency at which heart rate is measured varies and depends on the level of activity of the user. When you start an activity with your Garmin Optical Heart Rate device, the optical heart rate monitor provides feedback more frequently as the optical sensor is on all of the time and is trying to measure heart rate on a continuous basis during a given activity period. The intent is to provide the user with a more frequent and accurate heart rate reading during a given activity.
If after following the above guidelines, you continue to see inconsistencies in your heart rate, please reach out to Garmin product support so we can investigate and help. Our contact information and hours can be found here: www.garmin.com/support
We will continue to monitor performance, and offer updates and enhancements to the vívosmart HR as well as the optical heart rate sensor, so be sure to keep your software up to date as well.
We value and appreciate your feedback. *CG

Very Disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. All I wanted was a wearable to replace my Basis Peak which was recalled. I just need HR monitoring and Sleep monitoring. The HR results were unusable. I went on a bike ride, I use Cyclemeter with a chest strap to monitor my rides. The results from the Vivosmart HR Activity Tracker vs my chest strap were crazy. My chest strap results were in the expected 140 to 150 range the results from the Garmin were in the 60 to 70 range. Occasionally it would pop up to a similar reading but not often. I wore it as the instructions indicate. It's unfortunate as the software is much better than my Basis Peak and it looks a lot better but it don't work! Must return it and find a better solution. Also if you use the notification functions I found the type size to be too small to be usable.

Stay Away!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If I had written this shortly after x-mas, my review would have been much better. However, now that I've had time to review this product and its multiple updates, I am going to say STAY AWAY if you are an Android owner. At first this device paired and synced perfectly. As time has gone on and update have been released, this device and the software have become nothing but an issue. I am constantly trying to keep this band and my phone paired. I fight with it regularly, and at this point I have finally removed the band and called it quits. This device and the software are just not worth the hassle.

Garmin Vivo smart Hr
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this for almost a week and had to charge it 3 times. The move bar vibration worked the 1st day until updates were done and now nothing. I've read reviews from Garmin that the change was intentional. However, nothing was changed in advertising for this product. I sit at a desk all day and often get wrapped up in work. I looked forward to having something to remind me to move and take a break. Text messages never came through, although I'm not able use anyway because of battery life. I would have been better off getting a less expensive version since I'm not able to use all the extra features. Because, of the issues I've had in the the 1st week of owning this product I'm thinking of taking back and exchanging.

Posted .Please make sure your move alert is on via the menu of your vívosmart HR. Simply, press the button> swipe and select settings (gear) > swipe and select Activity Tracking > and select move alert to on. This should provide the alert notification. To make sure the notifications works with your smartphone, check the compatibility list at www.garmin.com/ble You can select to only view call notification via the same activity tracking menu. This can help with battery life. If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact our support team ( www.garmin.com/support ). Best regards. ~QKO

Disappointing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just returned my VivoSmart HR. It was terribly inaccurate in the one form of exercise that is easy for me to count: going up and down stairs. I live on the 2nd floor, so if I go down, I must go back up to get home, but it recorded only about 60% of the times I went back up. That left me wondering about the accuracy of any other recordings. I did submit a question about correcting this problem, a week ago, but never got an answer. It also messed up my phone. I had planned to share my stats with my doctor, but the reports are not printer-friendly. But then it's pretty clear the stats are not valid or reliable either, so no point in sharing them.

Posted .Thank you for providing us with your feedback. I’m sorry to hear about the inaccuracies that you experienced with your vívosmart HR. Although you stated that you’ve already returned the device, I would like to take a moment to address some of the concerns you mentioned within your review.
The vívosmart HR uses a built-in barometer to measure elevation changes as you climb stairs. The barometer is located on the back of the device near the charging contacts. These small holes help the device accurately detect elevation change. If these small holes become obstructed, the performance of the barometer may become erratic when it comes to reporting the number of floors climbed. If you suspect that this is the case with your device, try using canned air to clear any obstructions or rinse the device with water and allow it to air dry before putting it back on. These suggestions will help to ensure that the barometer is free from obstructions that can cause erratic floors climbed readings.
If you continue experiencing inaccuracies, please contact Garmin Customer Care for assistance: http://www.garmin.com/support. Again, thank you so much for taking the time to write your review. (KS)

Would not buy or recommend
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The stairs climb does not work. Sync takes about 2 plus minutes even for just a day of data. I do like that it is waterproof. The app is not easy to understand review your data and no community or social aspect from the mobile app.

HR NOT ACCURATE
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would not recommend this because the HR is not accurate! My HR was 140 during cardio and it was only showing 94-97. I next did the stairs where my HR is typically between 140-160. The watch was bouncing randomly in the 80s and 90s!!!! I am so disappointed because I LOVE all the other features. But what good is a fitness watch that is NOT ACCURATELY tracking your HR and calories burned???? (HR is what determines the calories burned).

HR not accurate
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this mainly to use to track my heart rate but the accuracy is terrible. While taking a stress test, the monitor never showed it to be closer the 10 points off the EKG at times off by 50 points. It was both higher then the EKG and at times lower but there was no consistency. The rest of the things measured seem to be accurate.

Vivosmart are all junk
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The cheap fitness bracelet worked for 8 months and Garmin replaced it with a refurbished unit that lasted 4 months. Now I'm stuck with buying a new bracelet. I got smart and purchased the Samsung Fit 2 and changed the band on it. I'm so happy. Garmin stick to making GPS navigation.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very disappointed with the Garmin Vivosmart HR. Nothing smart about it. Hard to adjust settings, very poor instructions, terribly inaccurate mileage when running. Watch band needs to extra tight in order for HR monitor to work accurately.

Expensive tracker with poor software
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased 3 months ago. Worked fine until last software update. Posted .There are a few troubleshooting suggestions that I'd like to make that may fix this issue and prevent it from reoccurring.
1. Please ensure that the Garmin Connect Mobile app is up to date. If "auto updates" are enabled on your phone, you may already be up to date. If not, you can check the Google Play Store to see a list of app updates that are available, if any.
2. Please ensure that your vívosmart HR has the latest firmware installed. We recommend using a computer to update the device via Garmin Express (http://software.garmin.com/en-US/express.html).
3. Please ensure that you're following the pairing instructions as listed below. (Please note: Your vívosmart HR will not function properly if paired directly through the Bluetooth settings on your phone. It must be paired within the Garmin Connect Mobile app.)
Pairing Instructions: http://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/simpleCase.htm?caseId={a84ed9c0-92f9-11e5-4cfe-000000000000}&kbName=garmin
Once your vívosmart HR and the Garmin Connect Mobile app are updated and the devices are paired, they should sync properly. If you continue to experience issues, Garmin Customer Care would be happy to offer additional troubleshooting assistance and can be reached using the contact information listed on our Support page (http://www.garmin.com/us/support/).
Again, thank you so much for your review. (KS)
