Posted .The vivoactive is not advertised as a device with built in optical heart rate monitoring. Garmin does offer this functionality in other products including some within the "vivo" line. We would love for you to eplore these other product offerings to see if there is a Garmin that will fully meet your needs.
Any Garmin device that is Connect IQ compatible will be able to download additional Sports Apps that are created by third party developers. These may include weight lifting or strength training related apps.

If your device ever freezes again, there is a soft reset that can be performed on it. Pressing and holding down the power button for 15-20 seconds, or until it powers off, will complete the soft reset.
We would encourage you to ensure your device has the most current version of the software. It is possible that Garmin release updates while the device was on the shelf at the store. Software updates are completed through Garmin Express which can be downloaded and installed to a compatible computer by visiting www.garmin.com/express. There may be instances where the device counts steps when you are not walking, if your arm motion is similar to the movement while walking or running. Not as accurate as I hoped

The tracker would say I walked the treadmill for 27min and burned 158 calories but the treadmill says 27mins and 190 calories. I still use it everyday because I like how it connects with the app My Fitness Pal, I like how it connects with bluetooth and alerts me to text messages.
