Stopped working at 1 1/2 years

It was purchased in June of 2022 and stopped working in February 2024 --no lights, power, nothing. I know appliances have a short life these days, but this did not even work for 2 full years. That trumps anything else I could say about this item. I do not recommend. I will try a different brand next time.

We purchased the microwave today after our $200 Panasonic Inverter shut down after only a year. Thought we would go with a reputable brand since this is the brand we had before purchasing the Panasonic. Got the microwave home, plugged it in, started it to warm food and it made this horrible sound. Almost like a baby lawnmower. Turned it off and tried it again, same thing. It sounds like it has motor issues and this is brand new straight out of the box smh. We will be returning in the morning. We don’t want to take the risk of bring stuck with this microwave or wasting our money again. Don’t think I’ll be repurchasing GE or from Best Buy at this rate.

Must have lights on even in day time to read settings. Not at all like my G.E. I had before . Plastic circle turn table holding glass plate cheaply made.

Garbage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this to replace a 16 year old GE microwave that had served my family well. What a disappointment, I will never buy another GE product again. The first microwave arrived and I tested it by attempting to boil water. With about 6 seconds to go the machine made a loud mechanical whirring sound and I pressed stop. The next attempt to cook a microwaveable meal for 5 minutes. With 19 seconds to go the microwave made a popping sound and shut off. The top right side of the unit was very hot to the touch and smelled like it was burning. I called Best Buy and they promptly sent out a replacement microwave. During the initial test it made a loud mechanical whirring sound and then shut down, again the top right section was very hot. I unplugged it and plan to return it to the store in the morning to exchange for another brand.

Fan runs intermittently when not in use...2 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this microwave 2 months ago January 2021 (color white)... only I use it for reheat purposes, certainly not a lot of use. Yesterday I noticed the fan was running, on its own, and the microwave was not used in hours. First time I have ever noticed this in a microwave EVER. I hope this is not a sign of defect or an electrical issue. We shall see what happens. In any case, when I run into any appliance from a particular manufacturer and it does not live up to my expectation, I never buy another appliance of the same brand name (or any of its subsidiaries) in the future.

Dead in 14 days
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked fine the first week and after that performance started degrading until the outside of the microwave was far warmer than the food inside. I had to drive 50 miles to Best Buy on a Wednesday to exchange the microwave Before the exchange/refund period Was over. This microwave is way too expensive for it to quit working so soon as delivery. I would definitely not recommend this microwave.

Will not last.

Okay if you want to buy a new one within 2 years

Now, not even two years after buying it, it stopped working completely. Can't seem to find appliances that last very long anymore.

Dangerous Broke after a few years, throwing away

Was solid… until it failed

Just under 3 years and the control board failed. You are much better off spending your $ on something more reliable… disappointing quality GE

It won't shut off and makes a burning plastic smell. So if you are looking for a long lasting microwave, keep looking! We were very disappointed. Our previous one lasted 12 years!

Worst appliance ever

Returned unit and purchased a second. Within a week the carousel stopped rotating. Returned unit, purchased 3rd unit (we had specific size requirement) within 3 days the fan made the same awful sound as the first unit. THREE units and they were all bad. Unheard of. I will never buy GE again.

The one year factory warranty for these units cover an exchange with your dealer, this model is a Return to Vendor model. Meaning, we do not carry many replacement parts for it and you would need to take the unit back to your dealer to exchange it with the use of your warranty. We hope that this is helpful for you. It didn't last

Dead in 15 Months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After about 15 months of very light use, microwave began repeatedly tripping 15 amp circuit breaker when operated on High for more than 90 seconds. No warning; no apparent overheating; no burning odor like what we experienced with our other 8-month old microwave, which GE replaced under warranty. Poor quality junk. Buy a different brand.

Display is impossible to read

( my eyesight is 20/20 - not even reading glasses ) I would rate it -0- zero stars if possible. I ordered this online, and should have returned it ... you cannot even read the clock time.
