I have built in cabinets above and next to the space. I'm very pleased with this product, but it is small by today's standards.

side by side for small space

But if you have limited space and want a side by side this is your only choice. Works nice, modern, wide shelf in door. Satisfied so far.

A few of our refrigerators do not offer this feature. However, we do offer an inline water filter that can be added to the water line in the back of the refrigerator before it reaches the refrigerator. This can be purchased at an additional cost. Disappointed with freezer temp and dirty ice
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the 1st one returned for problems and the replacement also has problems. Freezer: At nominal setting, it would only get down to 9 degrees.To get freezer side to 0 degrees, had to turn to coldest setting. I adjusted it daily until I got the right temperature. The ice maker never made clean ice after water was running clear. There is dirt in the ice making tray that transfers to the cubes' curved surface (not all cube positions are dirty). No easy way to get to tray to clean it. Kept dumping ice at least daily for a month and still dirty. After removing the protective film on door, dents were exposed that were not delivery related. Also the bezel around the water / ice dispenser did not fit properly. One corner was pulled out. Because of these problems, had replacement delivered today. Do not know about temperature, BUT the freezer door is out of alignment and interferes with other door. Delivery would not fix. Have to schedule repair. Also the freezer door containment "fences" for the pockets were missing and did not find out until I was unpacking the little items after the delivery people left. Only GE makes the only unit with ice/ water dispense that fits in my small cabinet space, so stuck with this model. Have had various versions of this GE unit for almost 30 years. GE will now be made in China by a different company and since I was having freezer problems with my old unit (about 15 years old), ordered a new one before production moved from US as I was concerned about China quality, but unfortunately, American quality is sub-par based on the my recent experience.
