The sound level of portable air conditioners varies depending on the fan speed. They're approximately 59 dBa (decibels) at the maximum fan speed setting. By way of comparison, 60 dBa is the sound level of normal conversation measured 3 feet away; the average ambient noise level in a home is 50 dBa. A vacuum cleaner produces 70 dB measured 3 feet away. Thanks for sharing your feedback on the sound level and performance. Regarding the leaking, if your unit is properly installed and leveled, it should not leak inside the home. Be sure the exhaust vent connections are secure, since any air leaks can reduce efficiency and cause moisture buildup. The exhaust hose should also be positioned correctly, with part of its length resting on the floor. Additionally, the unit must sit on a flat, level surface so the internal moisture tank can function correctly, shutting the unit off when full and preventing overflow. -- If those tips don’t help, we recommend seeing page 17 of the Owner’s Manual for warranty exchange information. The Owner’s Manual can be viewed at the bottom of the Features tab on the product page of the Best Buy website. Lauren@GEAppliances

Avoid if possible!

Bought the unit, 3 months into usage and all of a sudden all types of problems arise. 1) Loud, it’s as if something inside is broken, just like a bad belt on a car with the squeaking. 2) The constant water pool on my carpet, not even an hour AFTER EMPTYING the unit. 3) Spits water through the top fan that blows the cold air! Best part. GE can only offer a mail in voucher to refund the purchase of a second exact same unit, they don’t refund your first unit even if its under warranty! Incredible!

Defective noisy product

very noisy. damaged my wood floor with rubber goop leaking out the bottom. cools ineffectively. ended up leaking when the unit got moved. it's very poorly made and designed. GE bought Haier appliances, and they were not a first-rate brand when I bought the product, I had no idea that it was Haier. ended up returning it to best buy because the product was such a poor design and the noise and the rubber coming off was unacceptable.

I bought the product in the evening and returned it in the morning when the store opened. It made so much noise that I couldn't hear my own thoughts. It's the only product I've ever bought and regretted.

Quit working 13 months after purchase was leaking glue like substance on rug not cooling. According to GE CAN'T BE FIXED NO PARTS FOR UNIT EITHER! GOODBYE GE

We did not find this product to be sufficient for our needs. It was very large and clunky. Additionally, connections, etc., were challenging.

Don't waste your money

I am really shocked by the failure of this unit, after working for two nights in the bedrooms and for the duration of sleep, to show strange sounds, bad smell, poor cooling efficiency, vibrations in the cooling fan that you can easily notice, in addition to the frequent pooling of water inside it and the need to empty it continuously. I'm gonna pick it up. It's a piece of junk.
