But, I am having trouble with the window kit. The hole for the hose should not be in the middle. When I watched YouTube’s on installation of a portable A/C unit, other brand have the hole on the end of the panel. So that you don’t have to over extend the hose.

It does blow cold and it moves an impressive volume of air (the main selling point for me). The BIG problem is that the fan motor can't seem to stay on for more than a couple of hours. All a/c units have a compressor that cycles on and off, I've never before seen one with a FAN that cycles on and off. It runs fine for a while, then suddenly it will stop blowing for anywhere from 5-20 minutes before randomly starting again. All the lights stay on, no error code is displayed, it just stops blowing. It's impossible to sleep in a hot room when the a/c chooses to simply stop on it's own ALL NIGHT LONG. Customer service was less than helpful. After describing my problem I was put on hold for 15 minutes then told that the fan was "probably freezing up" and to try the medium fan setting 2 degrees higher target temperature. How a FAN can freeze when set at 74° in a 90° room is beyond me, but I tried it. No help. On my second call for help, I was told to unplug it for 2 minutes. Needless to say, that didn't help either. I've had many room air conditioners over the years (we have 3 in use right now) and this was my first GE. As things stand right now, it will be my LAST as well. Also, the wifi function won't work without the GE app, and you can't get that without giving GE all your personal info first. NOT a good way to do business...

It is normal for the compressor to cycle off periodically and the fan to follow a few minutes later. If it seems to be cycling on and off too often, the unit may be too close to a wall or too large for the room. Please let us know if continue to have issues. We are always happy to help. - JB

The hose that comes with it will not stay connected to either end, nor willl it reach a standard window height. It’s incredibly short. I have no idea how the window end of the hose is suppose to connect to the window shroud. The instructions mention screws that were not included. The overall quality of the window kit is incredibly poor considering the cost of the unit. Do yourself a favor and spend $600 on another AC Unit.
