It's normal to hear some sounds from the a/c unit while it's operating. Please take a moment to review the "Normal Operating Sounds" section on pg. 14 of the Owner's Manual. If you believe the noise you're hearing is abnormal after reviewing this information, we recommend you take advantage of the one year limited warranty by calling us at: 1-800 432-2737. -Don@GEAppliances

I recently purchased the GE - 550 Sq. Ft. 12000 BTU Smart Window Air Conditioner in White from Best Buy, and it has exceeded my expectations. The unit is powerful enough to cool my entire living room efficiently, even during the hottest days. The smart features are incredibly convenient, allowing me to control the temperature and settings directly from my smartphone. Installation was straightforward, and the unit runs quietly, which is a big plus. The energy-saving mode is also a great feature, helping to keep my electricity bills in check. Overall, this air conditioner is reliable, user-friendly, and a great investment for anyone looking to stay cool and comfortable.

This unit is used upstairs in a mostly unoccupied room to keep the temps and humidity down. It's replacing an 8yr old Frigidaire, also 12k BTU. The Frigidaire was slightly more efficient and used 100w less when the compressor kicked on - about 960w Max while the GE hits almost 1050 max. One weird thing is that GE has another model that states the same SEER rating yet uses 9.5 Amps which matches the Frigidaire. I don't see how this model and AHP12LZ can have the same efficiency rating when one uses 100w less. I didn't get the other model because they weren't in stock and this model was the "Deal of the Day." Operation mostly way quieter than the Frigidaire, but once the water pools in the back of the unit (to help with efficiency by throwing water on the coils) there's a lot of pinging. I was worried that the coils were freezing because it's what it sounded like so I went on the roof to check it out. Draining the pan and the pinging went away. So it was just the water being tossed. The worst part of this unit is Eco mode. I don't know what it is about American companies that they want to have useless Eco modes for some reason. I set the AC to 78 and Eco. The temp did get down to 78 but Eco mod wouldn't kick back in until it hit 86 and then drop it back down to 78. The rest of the night it rose to 85 and the AC never kicked on. The humidity was 68% and muggy. Going by this differential, I'd have to set it to 72 to get it to kick in at 80, but then it would try to cool it to 72. How's this economical? So now I have to burn about 140w for every moment the compressor isn't running just to keep the temps bearable, even on auto mode it's pulling 140w on low. I wish that I didn't have to use the extra electricity when not needed. My Frigidaire was almost as bad. I had to set it to 74 for it to kick on at 81 and cool to 78 (not sure why it wouldn't try for 74). At least I could keep the differential in a decent usable range. My Midea and LG work(ed) as intended and keep the room nice, cool, and dry within the range I set it. The app allows scheduling of not just powering on and off, but temp, mode, and fan speed. You can also do this with Alexa or Google Home if that's your preference. The SmartHQ also gives you a rundown of how much electricity you've used. Other than the busted Eco mode - that I assume they could tweak via firmware update - the unit works wells.

Small, quiet, and powerful. Love the ability to control from the app. Does the job for the whole house and very efficient.

Very quiet motor, love that feature. Nothing worse than hearing a loud air conditioner running like a freight train in your home. Cools my whole first floor! Great product!

The GE 12,000 BTU Smart Window Air Conditioner is a little tank that punches way above its size. Designed to cool spaces up to 550 sq. ft., it handles brutal summer heat like a champ. It’s got Wi-Fi connectivity, so you can tweak the temp from your phone, and it runs surprisingly quiet for how powerful it is. Setup is simple, and the energy efficiency is a big plus if you’re trying to keep bills in check. Whether you're chilling in a studio or a larger room, this unit brings serious cooling muscle without the bulk.

Wife asked me if I thought would be dead for more than a day before she had an air conditioner for the living room. The next morning I bought this online, for curbside pickup. Picked it up that afternoon and the next day my son installed it for us. It is doing a terrific job, cooling our large living room. In fact, the whole ground floor is maintained at comfortable temperature. The installation was a piece of cake.

I like how fast it cooled down my new rental after setting it up during 90 degree weather, took about 10 minutes fast to chill at 64. It was mostly easy to set up but a drill helps alot, my windows weere small making it a tight fit and it couldnt go over the window sill to latch the bottom of the ac to the outside part, got around it with tape . Works well and chills amazing for cold nights sleep

Easy installation. Not so heavy that I (a 65y.o.) could do it myself. Intuitive front panel control BUT greatest attraction was the smart phone app! Gives peace of mind from afar that the unit is working perfectly. Only drawback is after a power outage unit turns back on in Eco-Mode where we need it in Cool almost 24/7. But that is easily changed, again, on the app. Highly recommend GE's!!

Prior to purchasing this A/C unit my mobile home was literally a hot box. I set it up in the living room and it has been a life saver. I feel the difference as soon as I enter through my front door. You can download an app and control the temperature from your phone and even set it on a schedule for different temperature settings. You even get a notification on your phone when it is time to change the filter. This unit exceeded all expectations on different levels. Can't beat the price.

Extremely fast cooling for my 550 sq ft garage we converted to a room, also pretty quiet for the size of the ac. Would recommend getting a support for it considering the weight.

It is better than the two year old air conditioner that it replaced. It cools the room on a low setting and is quieter and better than the old one that had to be set above the low setting.

This ac was easy to install. I live in a mobile home and it cools an area 14 x 50 perfectly. The price was great. I am very pleased with this purchase.
