Amazing microwave
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've only had this microwave a few months and have only tested out a few features, but I'm in love so far. We tested out cooking a pizza with the rapid cook method and it turned out great (crisp too).

great overall stove
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace one I bought around 2000 in which the control board went out, however I got a great deal on this one since it was a last display model so I bought it. To be fair I have not hooked it up or used it yet because I was able to get a new control board for $125. from Sears with instructions on how to replace it and it only took around 20 mins. being very careful and it fixed my old one which I am still using. I am selling my house so I plan on keeping this one to go in my next house.

The best we have ever owned
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent installation in my motor coach by Best Buy contracted technician who replaced a Sharp that came with the coach new. Well worth the installation cost because of the weight and the fact that he disposed of the old Sharp as well. Good deal of the Year so far!

Whomp whomp
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In theory this is a great microwave. In the 2 weeks since its installation we haven't been able to use it. Ours was installed, but we found it was defective (no rotation of the plate). Best Buy offered a new one, to be installed, but the day before installation we were told that it was out of stock. I have reservations about the entire process.

Posted .Hello ChicagoTimG - thank you for reviewing your new Advantium. We are sorry to hear that the turntable is not turning in your model. First, please try to use the turntable On/Off pad to turn the turntable back on. If this does not help, we recommend disconnecting power to the unit via the main power supply for a couple minutes so as to reset the controls. Should you require additional assistance, please contact GE Factory Service at 1-800-432-2737 for assistance. Thanks for choosing GE Appliances! NANCYatGEA

Nice unit, but prob not worth the price tag
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.1st off, I DO like the unit. But is this costly advantium "speed cook" technology worth the price justification over, the a more basic microwave/convection unit for half the cost ?? meh. If you're expecting super fast cooking, as is insinuated, that's not really what this does. What it does is mix 3 cooking technologies, not simultaneously, and not really good at any one of the three the way a unit dedicated to each would be. It has a 925 watt microwave magnetron (as compared to most in the 1000 to 1200 watt range). So it's microwavinga little slower. It has a single quartz heating element on the top (as opposed to a decent multi element quartz heating toaster that will do a much faster toasting job). And it has a bottom ceramic element to heat the non stick metal turn table tray. This one actually works pretty well, though, a non-stick frying pan would be faster for similar bottom heating. But being more than a frying pan, you can combine the bottom ceramic with the top quartz heating to get both top and bottom heating, which a frying pan can not do. Ofcourse, if you get a decent toaster oven with a non-stick pan, then you've just accomplished this for a LOT less money. But wait, you say microwave also. Yes, but it does not work simultaneously (because it would draw too much wattage). I think they make a 220V version that will do both simultaneously, which seems liek a huge advantage, but not many people have their microwave area wired for 220. Convection oven... So the other thing to discuss is the convection part of it. This basically means cooking by mildly circulating air... thus convection. -where as microwaves and the upper quartz element on it's own are forms of radiation, and the bottom ceramic one that heats the bottom tray would be conduction. But again, this is a sub-par convection oven compared to one made strictly for that purpose. If you want real convection cooking (vs a better than nothing high end gadget of sorts). you will not find it in any over the range microwave. You will need to look for a "True European Convection" standard, which has an additional heating element for extremely hot, balanced, circulating air that this or similar units can not achieve. So what do you get in this unit? - a weak microwave, with a sub-par convection oven, and a weak quartz toaster. Is that better than a plain, inexpensive ordinary microwave ? Yes it is. But for the cost ??? you decide... The idea of cooking with radiation, convection and conduction all in 1 unit is pretty cool, but compromising all three vs units dedicated for each makes it a bit lack luster, if you were expecting something that blows your socks off. Next, the vent hood that goes over your range - an apparent design flow ? It is 300 CFM, which is pretty much industry standard (though some offer 400). The issue is that only a fraction of that 300 is actually sucked from the bottom (where you're cooking), making it rather un-useful if you cook on your range/cooktop a lot. After 2 weeks analysis and partial disassemble, I figured out that for some unknown reason, it's designed so that only around 1/3 of the suction comes from the bottom filtered, intakes that your're relying upon. The majority of air is sucking in from the upper grill that is supposed to be the air output if you configure it to re-disburse air, instead of send it up to a roof vent. I contacted GE who sent me literature stating it's common for some air to be coming OUT of this vent. So when I found the opposite, lots of air being sucked IN, I questioned them, and they could not explain, instead, sent a service technician. The service guy opened the grill, scratched his head, and said he's never run into this issue, but we can partially resolve the by putting a block (duct tape) in the area that appears to be a design question, and would not harm operation. So I let him do it. (did not want to do it myself and risk voiding warranty) This partially resolved the issue. meh...

Size is good and seems relatively easy to use.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The oven/microwave is very useful for dual cooking situations. To date, the oven has not been used, but the microwave performs very well.

It looks beautiful, but not much more
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Buy this for its looks! This product is very pleasing to the eyes. But, it takes longer to cook than my 4-year old model did in the regular microwave setting. It matches great with the range/stove and it has tons of cooking options (too many for me), but it has them. For me, it was too expensive. If you like to match your appliances, get it; if not, buy something else.
