This refrigerator exceeds expectations. The slate surface is amazing!

We needed something with a little more capacity in both the fridge/freezer after our fridge broke. This gave us both and still fit in our kitchen. Opening both doors lets you see everything in the fridge and the freezer with a top drawer lets you keep smaller items from larger ones. It has a door alarm, auto fill water dispenser and adjustable trays to configure however you like. We are very glad we chose it.

As a family of five with 3 children ages 3, 6 and 11, this refrigerator is not made to withstand constant opening and shutting. The main problem that we experienced with this refrigerator is that when you open the French doors and close them, it must be done in a particular sequence (right door then left to open and left door to right door to shut). This caused the flap connected to the left door to become unattached. In this flap are wires that affect the electricity to the refrigerator. Over time, this became damaged and caused it to have a small shortage and then caused the refrigerator to go completely out. We owned the refrigerator for 5 years and the last year and a half is when we experienced problems. To repair it, the estimated cost was between $400-800 including the service call. At that point, we used it until it died. I loved the beautiful design but it was not storage friendly. I am able to store more things in a side by side refrigerator than in this one. You think it is spacious but it is not. The pull out drink drawer was nice but again it limits you on how to store items. If you like condiments, this refrigerator does not hold a lot in the door. The ice maker would freeze up and you would have to take the ice bin out to break up the ice to dispense it. Now that we have a new refrigerator, we have all made the same comment...it is nice to open the refrigerator while putting ice in the glass. Nothing was more annoying to use the ice maker and someone opened the door to get something because the ice maker would stop dispensing ice.

This fridge/freezer is great, it has tons of space and I really enjoy all the features that it has. However that being said, the biggest draw back is that this ice make is TINY, if you are a big ice guy like myself you might want to re-think this one.

Do Not Buy! Compressor died in the under 18 months, under warranty sent email and direct contact via LG site regarding dead fridge, no response. No response to emails, can’t get a live person to talk to. LG=Lousy Garbage won’t honor warranty, respond to repeated contacts regarding dead fridge and no way to talk to a live person DO NOY BUY LG!!! There are numerous complaints about this same issue on various sites. Save your money and headaches never buy LG.

I thought I was purchasing a good product when I purchased the PFE28KYN 6 mos ago. The fresh food section stays at 39-40d and it is set at 34d. Had service come out 5 times now and the tech has to call GE service from my home every time. The cooling tower/thermistors have been replaced as well as the main control board. Still no change. Now GE tells the tech they are not taking the temp correctly - anything to get out or replacing or refunding. I’m so done with GE!

Like the refrigerator but am extremely annoyed that the other dispenser options on the outside door do not light up at night. Unless you memorize the spots you have to turn a light on to see the selections. |i know eventually I will memorize, but new people dont know this and press who knows what looking for it or turn a light on. Maybe not a big deal to some but annoying to me. Maybe a petty complaint but not to me. For example, it is set on Water, it is lit. If you walk up to it to select ice, those selections are not lit up at all. The door is dark and you have to turn light on to see where crushed ice selection is. Otherwise you press all over looking for the other selections. After having another refrigerator that has lighted selections at night for 14 years this is very annoying and never realized this in the store.

Constantly freezes a layer of ice on the bottom, then the ice drops off and melts a huge puddle on my hardwood floors. Ice Maker only makes two trays of ice PER DAY. Lastly, there is a small fan (like a CPU fan), that circulates the inside air, and it is extremely noisy and it WILL fail (we are on #3). When it dies, the fridge no longer cools, and it cost $700 each time to teplace. Storage space is also awkward. Looks good, but it is the Worst fridge ever made.

13 months and the fridge stopped working very noisy and ice maker sucks I called GE and they told me sorry it’s out of warranty after spending 4 grand on new appliances all GE products they are made in China should of got a whirlpool made in USA stay away from GE Products

Terrible refrigerator. After 9 months there is a humming and buzzing sound coming from 2 of the fans that can be heard 2 rooms away. My local appliance service came in and replaced one fan and it is even louder. I had GE service in and they said "that's normal and, since it cools, nothing is wrong". I guess GE believes that their refrigerators are OK if they make loud sounds. Maybe this is true of all GE refrigerators. GE refuses to come back and look at it, even though it's gotten louder since they were there. Terrible refrigerator, terrible service, terrible brand - that's GE.

Little plastic nibs on filter break on insertion everytime. Filters cost $50 minimum.
