My first reaction, this thing is wayyy too expensive. It's some kind of goofy over engineered crowd funded piece of nonsense, that is outrageously priced. It arrived, I smoked three things with it, and I looked at regular old outdoor smokers. OK, I totally changed my mind. This thing is pretty darn amazing.
So the big selling idea, I will use this far more casually and often than I have ever used an outdoor smoker. It just flat out works.
It isn't for everybody. You can't cook 5 racks of ribs in it (only 2). You can't smoke a whole turkey. It requires no skill to use (I guess pellet smokers require a lot less skill than a true smoker).
What it does really well - smoke food and lets virtually no smoke smell into your house. That's correct - frying onions gives off far more odor than this smoker. Close up while running, there's a slight campfire smell. I made three things from the cookbook, salmon, a whole chicken, and prime rib. This was some of the best smoked food I have ever eaten. It was pretty darn easy to use. I made a few mistakes along the way - opened the door without pressing the "clear smoke" button (yeah, guess what happened - tons of smoke came out - because the chamber is full of smoke). Forgot to put water in the waste bin (oddly, that wasn't really a problem - maybe more smoke got in the house). None of those mistakes ruined my food.
Yeah the controls are completely counterintuitive - you press this then twist that, then touch this, touch that, then press this - nothing logical at all. The intuitive app really helps with setting the thing up. But the app is the most annoying app ever made - it loves to ping. While cooking the chicken the app gave me maybe 50 notifications. If you ever open the door (even if it's turned off) the silly app does a notification.
The economics. Price of admission seemed really high. Until I looked at Traeger smokers - well this thing is priced about the same place as those smokers with WiFi. Except, I have to use them outdoors. Pellet savings isn't a thing with this smoker, even though it uses almost no pellets to smoke. Oh no, not at all. The little bags they sell for this smoker are heinously expensive - or really darn close to what you would pay for a 20 pound bag. And you can't buy little bags of pellets anywhere else. If you want variety of smoke - you'll have to buy the small expensive bags or buy a lot of 20 pound bags that will last a million years. This thing only uses about 1/2 cup of pellets to smoke for 4 hours.
And the real cherry on top - I'll use this thing for casual smoking. I'll make smoked peach cobbler (included in recipe book), or smoked cocktail cherries (included in recipe book), or smoked vegetarian food. I'd never go start up a smoker outside to do those things. And I'll smoke more meat with it.
There are two major nasty annoyances. The temperature probe couldn't be designed worse. It is down right ridiculous. The thing plugs into a jack that has a spring loaded cover, and uses a 1/4" jack that sticks straight out from the wall. It has to be installed during pre-heat, so the whole thing gets hot (now try to put that in what you are cooking). If you install after pre-heat you have to find a way to lift that stupid hot jack cover. And then like total baffoons, there are 90 degree 1/4" jacks - that would make the wire route far better inside the unit, and be a million times easier to use. The cable is springy stiff, and doesn't go where I wanted it to go - mostly prevented the door from closing.
The drip pan design is just plain awful. You're not supposed to line it with aluminum foil - something about being close to the heating element. The pan gets crusty - super crusty. You have to buy their specially sized aluminum drip pans.
This thing doesn't look like any smoker ever built before. It is pretty. But doggone, it can smoke stuff, indoors.

Where's the Smoke?

As a lover of smoked meat, I was super excited to try this indoor smoker. The concept of smoking meat in the kitchen when it's cold and rainy outside sounds too good to be true. And while this indoor smoker makes it possible, the results are underwhelming in my opinion.
I'll start of by saying that it's pretty easy to use and the fact that none of my smoke alarms went off and my air purifier AQI only got up to 100 is amazing (same level as using the oven). The only thing you have to put together out of the box is installing the two rack holders, which takes seconds. Other than that, you just fill up the pellet holder, put water in the bin for burnt pellets, find your setting, and put in the meat! It comes with preset levels for different meats (brisket, wings, ribs, etc.) and allows you to set the cooking process based on time or meat temperature. The included probe is really handy, you just plug it in on the inside of the smoker, poke it into the meat, and it instantly reads the internal meat temp.
So all that is really cool. Now to results. I first tried out the smoker by making chicken wings from the included recipe booklet. I got the rub on the wings according to the recipe and put the wings on the racks. The recipe called for setting the smoker on different settings than the preset wing settings (smoke level 3 v. 4 and shorter time), so I went with the recipe settings. After the smoker preheated, I popped the wings in and started to smoke! I was able to watch the wings cook through the window and internal light, a good feature you typically don't get from an outdoor smoker. I noticed a slight smoky smell filling the kitchen, but no smoke was visible in the air. After the time was up, I took them out and they smelled nice and smoky, and were fall off the bone tender. I did notice that some of the wings towards the back of the rack were a little too burned, some towards the front weren't crispy enough, and the ones in the middle were perfect. So I definitely recommend rotating the racks to ensure even cooking. After I tossed the wings in sauce, it was time to give them a try. And I would say they were very tasty, EXCEPT that I couldn't taste any smoke flavor. I could smell the smoke in the kitchen and as I took the wings out, but really no smoke taste at all. Note that this was only on smoke level 3, so I thought turning it up would fix that problem. I would also note that it seems like a lot of the wood pellets in the waste bin were hardly burned, which seems somewhat wasteful.
On try number 2 I used the smoker for pork ribs. Again, I followed a recipe from the included book, but went with the preset rib settings instead (they were largely the same: smoke level 5 which is max, just a little different timing). Having learned my lesson from the wings, after 3 hours I rotated the racks. I was a little unsure if I could just open the door while it was smoking, but I did anyways. I was very pleased at how little smoke came out. After the cooking time, the ribs came out smelling wonderful with nice bark on the outside and with meat falling off the bone. But again, very little smokiness in the meat at all! As you can see in the attached pictures, no red smoke ring. Not a good look for meat that just came out of a "smoker."
All in all, I would not recommend. I think you get slightly better meat than you would putting something in the oven with a hint of smoke, but I would be somewhat embarrassed to serve this to a friend and say I smoked it.

The GE Profile Smart Indoor Smoker isn’t my first foray into smoking foods indoors, as I do have a stovetop smoking kettle. However, what I like about this unit is that it contains and eliminates the smoke after it’s been exposed to your food, so your house doesn’t fill up with harmful particles and carbon monoxide.
The machine is about the size of a large microwave or toaster oven at 16” tall/wide and 17” deep. It has a sleek, glossy, modern look with a tempered glass door that takes a bit of force to open and close, due to the hermetic seal. The unit comes with 3 adjustable position racks, a drip tray, counter guard, 1lb of wood pellets, metal bristle cleaning brush, and removable food thermometer probe on a magnetic holder. A color booklet with a handful of recipes is also included along with the manual.
The unit is heavy, around 50 lbs, and it takes up a bunch of counter space, but don’t let that deter you if you’re interested in smoking food indoors because I would gladly reserve space on my countertop for this machine based on its results. The max capacity for each rack is 15 lbs, though a more useful guide for capacity is approximately 0.5 cu ft. Its temperature range is 170-300° F and you can smoke for as little as 15 minutes up to 24 hours.
The only setup required is to load food-grade wood pellets in the hopper (about 2 cups), prime the auger, and optionally connect it to your WiFi network for remote control via the GE SmartHQ app. Its operation is simple and intuitive using the touch keys and rotary selection dial below the LCD panel or change settings via the app, though you'll need to log into or create an account. To smoke food, set the oven temperature, smoke level (1-5), and cook time or alternatively choose a target temperature, if using the thermometer probe. I find using the probe easier because it takes the guesswork out of knowing how much time to smoke for, though either way you can set the machine to shut off or go into ‘keep warm’ mode after your food reaches the target temp or the cook timer expires. You can even cook without smoke though keep in mind that the unit only goes up to 300°F for slow roasting.
There are a handful of pre-set modes like Brisket, Pork Ribs, Chicken, and Salmon, or you can define your own custom program to suit your tastes. In the app, you can save and name your custom pre-sets and send them to the machine over WiFi, but the machine itself won’t store any custom programs in its onboard menu. The display is nice and bright and easy to read and a color-coded LED around the dial lets you know the progress and status of different modes like pre-heating, keep warm, and smoke removal.
The unit takes about 15 minutes to pre-heat, and if using the probe, you should install it first before starting the cook cycle. Once the unit is up to temperature, you can place your food inside and insert the probe into it, but don’t forget to use heatproof mitts as all surfaces inside the chamber will be hot, including the probe!
So far I’ve smoked salmon and chicken in it with delicious results using the recipes included with the machine. While the taste isn't exactly the same as an overnight smoke in an offset smoker, both meats came out cooked thoroughly, juicy, and with a strong but not bitter or overpowering smoky flavor. I can’t wait to try making ribs, brisket, and turkey in it. I’ve even ordered other flavor pellets like fruit woods, so I can experiment with the different aroma and taste profiles.
While smoking, you can see the smoke being generated and pumped into the smoking chamber when you turn on the interior light. I did not notice any visible smoke escaping the machine although excess heat is exhausted out of a vent just below the door and some smoke smell is perceptible but not heavy. The scent dissipates pretty quickly in a well-ventilated space and doesn’t seem to linger long, especially if you have air purifiers in your home. You can also pause and clear the chamber of smoke at any time during the cooking process, though this process takes a few minutes to complete, say if you need to open the door of the unit to add or remove food.
The machine uses about ¼ cup of pellets for every hour of smoking at the highest smoke level (5). After the pellets are burned, they’ll drop into a water collection bin to be extinguished, though you’ll notice at the end of any smoking session that some un-ignited pellets will also end up in the bin. Unfortunately, once they pellets get wet, they’re unsuitable for use and must be discarded, however, this is part of its normal operation and reportedly still more efficient in terms of pellet use than a traditional smoking coil. If you decide you want a different flavor smoke profile, you can empty any remaining pellets in the auger into the bin without using water and collect them for before loading the hopper and priming the auger again with different pellets.
Cleaning the unit after use isn’t too bad but is about as much work as cleaning a roasting pan. The interior of the machine is coated like an oven or microwave as is the drip tray that goes under the food while smoking. The racks and side supports are stainless steel; both are easily removed for cleaning. I found that wiping down the interior with a wet cloth after it’s cooled a bit but is still warm to the touch to be the best time to clean. Be wary of using any harsh chemical cleansers as this could damage the heating coil or the non-stick coating. I discovered even vinegar is a bit too harsh, as it ended up discoloring and etching the drip pan during a brief soak to remove burnt on particles.
Overall, I found this indoor smoker to be a game-changer for my kitchen. It has opened up new possibilities for meals I can make year-round; I can add smoke flavors to foods quickly, indoors without filling my house with dangerous VOCs and don't need to babysit an outdoor smoker for hours. It's a large countertop machine, but the capacity is decent, and while you won’t be able to smoke a ton of food at once, you can still do a whole chicken/roast, a couple racks of ribs, or just smoke in small batches for one or two people.

While relatively small, it works great for small items or doing test batches. Obviously won't get a brisket in this thing. However it works well with wings, sirloin, chicken, turkey, wings, etc.
I bought it primarily to be able to use for small items and as an extra piece for when I am smoking for gatherings.
It provides a decent smokey flavor and aroma to the food, while absorbing it all within the machine itself. Cooks well and does a great job at holding temp.

Where has this been all my life? I've been having a blast smoking all kinds of foods indoors with this GE Profile Indoor Smoker. To provide a bit of context, this appliance was originally kicked off by the talented FirstBuild team and was originally dubbed the "Arden Indoor Smoker". After doing some research, it became clear that the team kept a very close relationship with the BBQ'ing community (even bringing in BBQ experts) in order to keep improving the product. I believe this is an important element to highlight as it truly speaks to the type of effort that went into creating this five star product. It appears as though GE saw the potential of the product and brought it under their "Profile" line of appliances. So now we get the same great product, but with the confidence of GE standing behind it. After using this GE Profile Indoor Smoker for the last week and a half, the efforts of all involved truly paid off. I've smoked the tastiest rack of lamb I've ever had, a scrumptious smoked bourbon maple chicken (whole), a very juicy brisket with some gorgeous bark, and a few other foods like salmon and chicken thighs.
In terms of construction and design, this GE Profile smoker receives top marks. It has a very modern and sleek design that will look stylish on any countertop. The unit is constructed mainly from metal, premium plastics, and glass. It feels extremely durable and sturdy. The large door handle on the cavity door is complimented by a prominent open and close action that feels very satisfying to operate. The buttons on the menu panel are very thoughtfully designed. They include buttons which turn on the light inside the cavity, clear the smoke if you need to access the food, and allow you to modify the various cook modes. I'm a huge fan of the large knob used to navigate the menus. It's easy to access preset cook modes for various foods, empty pellets, change smoke temps and levels, toggle auto warm on/off (including what temp you want to set warm for), and several other selections. Although there's several options in the menus, nothing ever felt overwhelming. Every selection is to the point and there isn't any clutter of unnecessary or redundant options.
The appliance measures at 16.3H x 16.5W x 20.4D and weighs 55 LBS. GE recommends that you leave 4 inches of space on each side; especially on the top of the appliance. For those thinking of putting this underneath any kitchen cupboards, I highly urge that you ensure you have the required 4 inches of clearance between the top of the appliance and the bottom of any kitchen cupboards. The top of the appliance gets rather hot during the smoking process and you don't want it heating any surfaces right above it for several hours during a cook. The appliance is outfitted with 2 removeable rack supports which install on the sidewalls of the inner cavity. These rack supports hold upto 3 wire racks. At first, I was hoping the inner cavity was a bit bigger to accomodate more food. However, after using it to smoke various meats of various sizes, I think it's actually the perfect size. Any bigger and it would start to lose it's appeal as a "countertop appliance". I've been able to smoke a whole chicken on a single wire rack, 12 large chicken thighs using 3 wire racks (15 thighs if medium sized), 3 full size rack of lambs (1 rack on each wire rack), and a 10lb brisket! I did, however, have to cut the brisket in half and use two wire racks to support each slab of meat in order for it to fit. For most moderately sized families, this GE Profile indoor smoker will offer plenty of space.
Setup was extremely easy. The smoker came with a counter guard (protects your counter from spills), a drip pan, 2x side rack supports, 3x wire racks, temperature probe & holder, a metal wire tube brush for scraping/cleaning, a 1 lb premium blend pellet bag to get you started, operating manual, and a little bonus cookbook. All of the parts were extremely easy to clean with dish soap and water. I also cleaned the inside of the appliance with a damp towel and a bit of soap. At this point, all that was left was downloading the GE Smart HQ app on my phone, adding some pellets, and priming the auger. To sync the app with the appliance, I had to select the category of appliance in the app, hold the "Settings" button down on the appliance for 3 seconds, select my home Wi-Fi network, enter my Wi-Fi password, and alas, it successfully connected (if a new software update is available for the appliance, you will be prompted at this point). Next was adding pellets and getting the auger ready! For those new to smoking, the auger is simply the metal corkscrew inside the appliance which feeds pellets from the hopper (compartment which holds the pellets) to the burnpot which creates the delicious smoke for your foods. Once I filled the hopper nearly to the top with pellets (will hold upto 2 cups for a 4 hour smoke), I went into the settings to prime the auger. This process takes 1 minute and 30 seconds and helps ensure proper smoking performance and helps prepare the feed system. According to GE, you should prime the auger upon first use and also whenever the hopper has been completely emptied of pellets. The last thing to do was fill the waste bin with some water so that it puts out discarded pellets that are heated. This entire setup took me less than an hour. I do have to mention that prior to the setup, watching the "Getting Started" video on GE's YouTube channel, as well as watching some of the videos on FirstBuild's channel, really helped me get familiar with the appliance and its features. It also helped make setup an absolute breeze.
Once setup was completed, I smoked various foods throughout the week. I love the short yet tasty recipes that the included recipe book has. I actually used a couple of recipes from it and made the smoked bourbon maple chicken as well as the smoked rack of lamb. They were some of the tastiest meats that have ever graced my palette. Although the GE Profile smoker comes with the starter 1 lb bag of premium blend pellets, I purchased a variety pack (from Kona) of 8 x 1 lb bags of various flavors (e.g. apple, hickory, oak, mesquite, cherry) as I wanted to experiment with different flavors. The cooking modes are pretty straight forward. Under the "Customize" option, you can select for the appliance to smoke your meats until it reaches a desired temperature target or you can select a desired cook time. You can also do a mix of both where you select a certain cook time and monitor the temperature using the included temperature probe. The best part is that you can monitor the temp right on the Smart HQ app while you're away from the smoker. You'll also need to select the temperature at which you want to smoke your food (can do a maximum smoking temp of 300F). The included smoking presets are "Chicken", "Brisket", "Pork Butt", "Pork Ribs", "Wings", and "Salmon". While these provide a great "set and forget" option, these presets are also fully customizeable. You can increase or decrease the temp target, cook time, smoker temp, and smoke level. The appliance will remember these settings next time you select the preset again.
The smoking performance was very impressive and was almost a flawless experience. Getting my food in and out of the smoker with the various wire racks, which accomodates different height setups, was a pleasure. The only thing that I'm not a huge fan of is the way the temperature probe attaches into the appliance during a cook. I'll preface this by saying that this is really only an issue if you want to preheat the appliance first (which I almost always want to do) so that it reaches it's smoker temp prior to putting the food in. The male end of the temperature probe attaches into what appears to be a 1/4 inch female input jack. The issue is that there's a small metal door that covers this input jack. Once you've preheated the smoker and you've put your food in, you need to open that little metal cover (see picture) in order to insert the temperature probe. However, it will of course be hot to the touch. I usually have to use a fork to pry it open while I insert the probe. Not a huge deal, but I think the temperature probe aspect of the appliance could use a bit of a design improvement. However, given how incredible this appliance has smoked my meats, and how thoughtful the rest of the design & features are, it didn't warrant docking a full star. The smoke elimination technology is also a pretty incredible feat. I have a large air purifier in my living room that has an LED read-out of the air quality. During my smoke sessions, it only elevated ever so slightly due to the wonderful smell of the smoke (but no actual smoke was released into my home). My air purifier actually detects much worse air quality when I cook with my air fryer or on my cast iron skillet. The only other minor caveat is when you'll want to periodically open the door during a cook to maybe baste or glaze the meat. Everytime you plan on opening the door, you'll want to clear the smoke from the inner cavity by selecting the "Clear Smoke" button. This process takes about 10 minutes to fully clear the smoke. You can probably see by now that if you're basting or glazing every 15-20 minutes, this can become a bit of a timing game as you'll need to clear the smoke 10 minutes prior to opening the door everytime.
Overall, I'm extremely impressed by the GE Profile Indoor Smoker. By no means is this a direct replacement for a proper outdoor offset smoker, but for an indoor countertop appliance, I'm amazed. This is the perfect appliance for those foodies who either live in an apartment, don't have access to a backyard, or simply just want the convenience to smoke indoors during those rainy or freezing cold days (or scorching hot days too!). If you're someone who either loves to BBQ, are new to smoking, or perhaps just wants the convenience of smoking indoors, I highly recommend this smoker!

I've never owned an actual standalone smoker. I have however used my kettle grill to smoke a pork butt and wings. The pork butt required me to wake up at the crack of dawn, constantly monitor the temp of the kettle and hours and hours of waiting. The wings were a little easier and took less time, but also required me to babysit a kettle to make sure the temp wasn't too hot or too cool.
When I saw the chance to review this GE indoor smoker, I jumped on it. The box arrived and I thought, no chance I'm going to fit this on my counter as it was huge. Once I unboxed it I found the smoker to be much smaller, it was just packaged incredibly careful. I cleared some space and it fit like a glove with a few inches to spare.
The machine has plenty of settings to prime the auger, remove the pellets, and different presets for different types of meat. If you change one of the presets, the machine will actually remember the changes you made until you reset it. Theres a decent light inside that works well and then there's the app where you can control alot of the things on the smoker. It's really not that hard.
I started off with watching some of the videos available online. There's a plethora of videos from start to finish to show you what to do. I decided why not start with some ribs. I got one of the giant packs of 2 slabs of St Louis style ribs from the local membership stores and threw it in. I wanted to see exactly how much I could fit in there. Not going to lie, I was kind of surprised to see that the only thing that wouldn't fit in was about 1/4 of the package. So 1.75 racks of ribs, big ribs fit in this smoker.
My first smoke of ribs was decent but I wouldn't call it a success. Some of the thinner end of the slabs ended up drying out but the bigger ends were juicy. I determined I just had the smoker set too hot at 250 degrees for 6 hours. I also didn't use the provided thermometer that plugs into the machine. Mistake on my part, not the machines.
My next smoke was wings. They came out incredible. So much so, my wife asked when I was going to smoke more wings. Literally a week later I smoked more and invited friends over, they want to buy the GE indoor smoker now.. I fit 24 total wings both drums and flats. I threw a little seasoning on them and olive oil and into the smoker. Straight out of the smoker (before putting the sauce on them) you can really taste the smokiness. Really impressive.
The best part of all of this is, it doesn't fill your house with smoke. It does fill your house with a delicious smoked meat smell however. 10 minutes before you want to open the door, you hit the button that says "clear smoke" either on the machine or the mobile app and boom in 10 minutes you open the door to a completely smoke free cavity. Incredible. In order to test how smokeless this machine really is I put my dyson fan next to it while cooking the ribs for 6 hours, the dyson never went even into the yellow on the particulate matter (pm 2.5) scale. This means it was not registering any smoke at all. Crazy. I will say that first smoke had a much stronger smell than the 2 wing cooks. It could be because I was cooking pork or it could be that first time firing up an electronics device and you get that baking in smell. Either way it was noticeable, not horrible but definitely something to take note of.
So with all pros there are a few cons.
The door. Not only does the door not swing all the way open like closer to 90 degrees, it wants to shut when you open it. So you've got a hot rack of ribs you just flipped or rotated or whatever, and while putting it in, the doors trying to shut on you.
Pellet ramp cleaning. The machine comes with a wire brush for you to clean the pellet ramp or it wont properly burn the pellets. I found out midway thru my second wing cook that my pellets weren't burning properly. It had stopped smoking once I flipped the wings. the pellets that were being sent to the disposal bin were not burned. So here I go into the hot machine midway thru the cook to clean the pellet ramp. After that everything was good to go, but this is something I would recommend doing after every cook, just to be sure.
Honestly, that's the only cons I can think of for this beast. I do think the price might be prohibitive for some and that's understandable but if you're in an area where you cannot have a smoker in your yard or an apartment setting this one might be for you. Just don't be surprised if the neighbors come knocking asking why your apartment smells like a bbq joint.

[Smart Indoor Smoker Review]
The GE Profile Smart Indoor Smoker arrived in a very premium box, excellently packed. It featured handles on both the outer and inner boxes, greatly easing the carrying experience, especially for those without assistance. The packaging prominently displays the smoker's functions, providing a clear overview of its capabilities.
Unboxing was a breeze, with the smoker securely encased in hard foam, ensuring damage-free delivery. The inclusion of the racks, temperature probe, drip pan tray, counter drip tray, and cleaning brush are thoughtfully arranged for economical packaging. The user manual provides straightforward setup instructions and a helpful guide.
Inside the box, you'll find the Smart Indoor Smoker unit, three cooking racks, two rack mounts, an internal drip pan, a counter drip pan, a magnetically-held temperature probe, a sample bag of GE wood pellets by KONA, and a cleaning brush. The attached power plug at the back is non-removable, a minor inconvenience.
The smoker exudes a premium feel – sturdy and substantial at about 20 lbs. While one person can lift it post-unboxing, an extra pair of hands ensures safer positioning on the counter. The stainless steel racks and side rails are a testament to its quality build.
Mounting the racks is tool-free and intuitive. They securely clip onto metal nubs inside the smoker. The sleek design includes a counter drip pan for effortless post-cooking cleanup. The magnetic holder for the temperature probe is a thoughtful, high-quality touch.
Dimension-wise, the smoker is a 17-inch cube (length, width, depth), exclusive of the cooking area. The top-located wood feeding slot, complete with a visible auger, mimics outdoor pellet grills in design and functionality. Its size, slightly larger than an air fryer and akin to a microwave in width, necessitates some counter space consideration.

As a seasoned backyard griller with a range of smokers at my disposal (electric, acorn, traditional lump charcoal, and a pellet smoker/grill), I approached the GE Smart Indoor Smoker with a comparative lens.
True to its name, the smoker allows indoor smoking without the resultant smoke typically filling the kitchen or home – a revolutionary feature for apartment dwellers or those with limited outdoor space.
[Pros]
> Ease of Use: The set-and-forget nature, complemented by the GE Smart HQ app and the included temperature probe, spares you from repeatedly opening the smoker for temperature checks.
> Flavor Profile: Smoking a brisket in it, I found the smoke flavor ranged from mild to moderate, allowing the beef's robust flavor to shine through. The notes from the simple salt, pepper, and mustard rub were distinctly perceptible.
> Functionality: What sets this smoker apart from my electric smoker is its self-feeding hopper and auger, akin to an outdoor pellet grill. The water tray for spent pellets simplifies cleanup.
[Cons]
> Aroma Dispersal: Like an air fryer, its vents do release cooking aromas throughout the house.
> Interior Space Limitations: I used a 13lb, 18-inch brisket, trimmed to fit the smoker's 16-inch maximum length. Larger cuts common in outdoor smoking aren't feasible here.
> Smoke Ring: The resultant smoke ring was faint, although this could be due to the provided sample pellets. The flavor was present but differed from what I achieve with oak or mesquite chips in my other smokers.
[Conclusion]
Rating this experience, I'd give the smoker a 7/10 overall, surpassing my electric smoker but with room for improvement. The ease of use scores a perfect 10/10, flavor profile an 8/10, and appearance an 8/10. The unit excels in delivering flavor, crucial in cooking. The brisket's tenderness and taste were on point, following my usual outdoor smoking method but with the convenience of being indoors.
However, the price point is a consideration. It's a valuable addition for indoor cooks or those new to smoking, but the cost, size limitations, and lack of color options might give one pause. A price reduction, increased cooking area, and color variety could make it a more compelling choice for a broader audience.

Though I can BBQ fine enough here in TX, I've never actually used a smoker before. Main reason is due to time and quite simply, space. The GE Smart Indoor Smoker is great for anyone that has certain limitations on their situation. Great for apartments, city living and those stubborn HOAs that won't allow a bigger one on property.
The box was a hefty 55 lbs. Inside was the smoker itself with dimensions of 16.5" x 16.25 x 20.5 deep, instructions manual, recipe book, a 1lb bag of "premium" pellets, wire racks that need assembly and the temperature probe. Setting it up after making space for it in the kitchen was rather simple. There is a ton of tape and carboard protecting it so make sure it all comes off.
Make sure before actual use for the 1st time only, you prime the auger. It's a 1 1/2min process and really easy. You load your choice of pellets (in my case hickory) into the hopper and choose the "auger" setting in the menu. Then make sure the waste bin has water in it and you are all set.
The performance for being an indoor smoker is excellent. While smoking and cooking foods, I can smell the aroma of the meats but absolutely no smoke whatsoever to be seen. My 1st trial was making a dry rub brisket with my friend. After preparing the meat and using 3 trays we set it to the brisket setting and changed the temp and time. Fair warning, I would NOT use the factory presets of the cooker for any food you are making. For example, it wanted to cook my brisket @ 245 at 12 hours. That is way too long and had I let it go, I probably would have beef jerky instead. Even the recipe book included said to do 235 @ 8 hours, but I ended up doing it for 220 for 6 1/2 and it came out great. The included temperature probe is amazing for keeping track of the internal temps. Now the smoker is smart and will learn and adjust the presets the more you use it so it'll be even easier for you to use.
So far personally, I have made 2 briskets, 1 rack of pork ribs and some chicken. I would say after learning to tweak it to my preferences everything gets a solid 8-9 / 10. Flavor is wonderful and family approved.
I'd definitely recommend downloading and using the app. Setting up the smoker to your wifi is simple and once connected, you can literally watch and cook your food without even going near it. Display shows temp (if connected), time, your smoke level, etc. It was really convenient for me to not constantly get up and check the status.
The GE Indoor Smoker is the real deal and I would highly recommend it. If you are an apartment dweller or simply lack space and want to smoke meats, this is a no brainer. I have used it multiple times and have even more plans for other foods to try.

My biggest concern with this unit was how much smoke flavor it would impart on the food. I was surprised at how well it did this! It's very user friendly and so far I am extremely happy with it. The cooking chamber is small but for a couple people it is fine. The inside does need to be cleaned very regularly (not like an outdoor pellet grill). Slight hint of smoke smell from the exhaust but doesn't bother me. Would buy again!

The GE Profile Smart Indoor Smoker is a neat little appliance for adding a mild smoky flavor to foods when you can't or don't want to cook outside on a dedicated grill or smoker. The GE Profile Smart Indoor Smoker that I received was able to achieve a nice bark and color on all of the foods I smoked in it, but the smoke flavor itself was barely there.
I smoked: Chicken Thighs, a Pork Butt, a Leg of Lamb Roast, and a Whole Brisket.
Results: Chicken thighs looked amazing, tasted great, unfortunately in the limited time they took to cook they didn't take on enough smoke to even tell they were smoked. They tasted like the rub I used, and nothing more.
The Pork Butt came out both over cooked, and under cooked at the same time using the recommended cooking instructions included with the smoker. The bark was excellent, however large portions of the Butt were very dried out, and overall the meat was only shred-able in a small area, the rest had to be chopped up and the overall results were dry even after adding some of the drippings and some sauce. The smoke flavor of the butt was very very mild, described by others I let taste as "Barely there"
The Lamb Roast I cooked came out looking gorgeous! I followed the instructions for roasting the Lamb that were included on the meats label, and the roast came out a perfect medium rare, with a pleasingly mild smoky flavor.
Finally the Brisket. Since I had issues with the Pork Butt coming out dry, I decided to wrap my brisket after the smoke session to preserve the moisture. I smoked it for the full 4 hour cycle, then wrapped it up in butcher paper and let it cook intil the internal temp read 198 according to the included thermometer. Then I let it rest for a couple of hours before pulling it and unwrapping it. The point side of the brisket came out really good as far as tenderness etc, but the flat side was disappointingly dry. As far as smoke flavor it also only barely tastes smoked at all. There was no smoke ring whatsoever when the meat was sliced.
All of the food I cooked was with the smoke setting set to 5, with the chicken using the included wood pellets that came with the grill, The Pork used half of the included pellets, and once those ran out I used the normal 100% Hickory pellets that I usually run in my outdoor smokers. The Lamb and Brisket both used the 100% hickory pellets.
Overall what I observed is the smoke seemed to generate nicely, coming out of the side grill but then it rapidly sucked downwards towards the rear grill to be processed. I don't think the smoke is staying in the cooking chamber long enough to impart very much flavor on the meat.
Also the pellets, when I empty the bin, don't appear to be burned very much. Half of them are charred black, but still look and feel like a whole pellet, the other pellets in the bin are dissolved wood, that wasn't burned at all. I feel like it's wasting a whole lot of pellets and not getting a complete burn on them for some reason. See included picture.
Another thing I believe this needs is a water tray to keep the food moist. I'm going to do some experimenting on mine and see what I can come up with. The instructions say not to use the included drip pan as a water pan due to it possible overflowing, so I might try and fabricate something to sit under the bottom grate. Also I recommend covering the bottom drip tray in aluminum foil to make clean up easier. The first time I used it I didn't use foil and clean up was a bear.
In my opinion the GE Profile Smart Indoor Smoker is a really neat idea, the isn't fully realized yet. It DOES smoke your food a little bit, but not like most grill masters would expect it to. But it also cooks indoors, which means you can use it in an apartment, or when the weather is bad, or other reasons you might have to not want an outdoor smoker. Plus it's always fun to tinker and experiment when making good barbecue.. Right now I recommend this smoker if you know that you'll have the reasons to need it, and you're ok with knowing the smoke flavor isn't going to be as good as a real outdoor smoke can achieve. If you're ok with that then I recommend you give the GE Profile Smart Indoor Smoker a try.

I have smoked meats with almost any medium you can imagine and this appliance makes it easier snd dummy proof that any device on the market! Also, I bought it for the $999 price tags and got $327.00 refunded to my, by Best Buy when it went on sale for $699.
If you’ve never smoked meats or are a seasoned professional this appliance will make your life easier! It’ll hold 2 very generous size pork shoulders, which will feed a small ARMY or an entire brisket.. also, a small ARMY
It has you add wood pellets, add water, insert the internal thermometer, select the preset cooking time (which works well, especially if you’re a novice at smoking meats) and push the start button.. it does all the work for you,
I hope my review helps novice and pro alike, because seeing it in action is one thing, tasting meat cooked in it is another. 10/10 for me!

I got this right before Christmas and I was super excited. When the box arrived I was slightly concerned about it being able to fit in my kitchen. I didn’t really need to worry about it. There were 2 layers of boxes that made everything about 6 inches larger on each side. It’s probably the size of a large microwave (on the outside).
I put this together Christmas Day and used it immediately. The app to download is not super apparent, it’s on the bag of pellets and a picture of the app is included. Putting this together, make sure you look at the pictures on here and the directions. There is a particular way to put in the shelf holders. Also, the drip pan goes on the bottom shelf slide. There is a covering over the digital display. It feels like it should not come off, but it does.
Cooking food:
I smoked some ham and twice baked potato casserole. The shelves width was too narrow for 6x6 casserole dishes with the shelf holders in so I went with smaller dishes. I used the included pellets. On the app once you sync with the smoker you decide the temperature, time and smoke level. You also have to accept the instructions on the smoker itself or the smoker will turn off.
I had set this to smoke at 200 for 2 hours. After that time the smoker sets itself to warm. I did notice the smell of the smoke in my kitchen.
You may be able to smoke a whole brisket at one time if you cut it into quarters ( you can smoke up to 12 hours). I think the pellet hopper can handle that also. If you want to smoke rib. You may need to cut the ribs in half length wise.
A few improvements I would like to see:
Even 1” wider would allow for a 6x6 dish
If you have a setting in the app, you should not need to confirm this on the smoker.
Handles at the top would have been helpful.
A way to hang meat from the top would be very nice

Greetings! - Reviews like yours are how we get better so thanks very much for taking the time to write it! While the smoker doesn't have "handles," there are handholds under the left and right sides so you can more easily move the Smoker after it's cooled. We'd love for you to share your success stories in your smoking adventures. All our best! Vikki@GEAppliances

The GE Profile Smart Indoor Smoker has officially changed the game. In a state where humidity hijacks any chance at traditional outdoor smoking, this sleek black marvel delivers rich, smoky flavor—indoors, safely, and stylishly.
From tender ribs to buttery salmon, everything I’ve tried has tasted like it came from a backyard pit. But the real magic? It’s easy. Smart tech, minimal cleanup, and a flavor that brings friends knocking. Five stars for turning ordinary dinners into memorable feasts.

So far, this smoker has performed far better than I had expected. It's slightly larger than the average microwave, so it will take up a good amount of counter space in the kitchen, and its one limiting factor is the internal size of the actual smoking chamber which is quite smaller than the average smoker, (a larger rack of ribs or a brisket will need to be cut into smaller portions in order to fit). However, its simple to use, easy to clean, and together with the fact that it works indoors without releasing any of the smoke into the room has me using this 3-4 times a week

So far, it's OK, after the first 2 initial uses. After some research combined with the experience, I've learned to err on the side of lengthening the cook time while decreasing the suggested temps. First attempts resulted in the probe hitting the internal temp much faster than the suggested smoking-time, which made this thing more of a convection oven, than a smoker. Perhaps different pellets will yield more smoky flavors per a traditional smoker.
Used on my kitchen counter with no issues, didn't put anything special underneath it for the heat (we have a quartz countertop) and it does not smoke up the house, But there is an aroma of smoked meats lingering after use, but its not annoying or strong (wife didn't complain).
Easy to clean the inside parts, except the drain pan, which now has unremovable grease stains after 2 uses (even after soaking, did not want to use anything abrasive to clean the pan).
I was fortunate to pay the member price, cause I'd be a bit more disappointed in this, if I paid full retail price.

House smells like smoke

I bought this on sale for $699.
Pros:
It's an indoor smoker. Easy to use. Almost effortless when smoking. You probably just need to rotate the meat once or twice during the smoking process depending on how many trays you use. Give a good smoke flavor. Out of the box, I was able to smoke two rack of ribs cut into 3rds with no issue and the cooking time was 5 to 6 hours.
Cons:
If you plan to smoke a lot then your house is going to smell like bbq smoke. Sometimes it is overwhelming. Eventually, your clean clothes and your furniture will smell like smoke. I was thinking of getting a stainless steel cart and cook outside. On that note, I might as well get an outside smoker. Don't get me wrong, there is no smoke, but the whatever they use to filter the smoke does not filter the smell of the smoke.
Also they say the cleaning was easy. Yes, the racks and pans can be washed in the dishwasher. But the interior walls and glass has a lot of tar/smoke residue. You will go through a lot of sponges and paper towel. You will also need a container for the grease and gunk collected with the drip pan.

Overall this a great little smoker. Two wishes: a bit larger capacity and better circulation to make all the inside same temp; a dozen chicken legs had final temps spread from 150 to almost 190. Easy to use, easy to clean and sparing on use of pellets. Be sure to use 100% hard wood pellets. For me I can work around the two minuses above
