Lost all of my music!!!

I received a call explaining that I had more to transfer than originally realized and that a zip drive would be more efficient. My entire iTunes library is lost. I was able to recover items purchased from iTunes but NONE of my personally loaded music. Why did I pay $100.00 for this???
