Generation War was a pleasant surprise! It was very historically accurate and the combat scenes were very good. It told a riveting story about five close friends who all went to war in their own different ways. I am definitely glad I purchased Generation War.

If you are a fan of German WWII Drama's in the vein of Downfall with Bruno Ganz or Das Boot, look no further. Generation War is an excellent and haunting portayal of Germany's War with Russia and the cataclysmic ramifications that soon followed. Up to this point I don't think the German invasion has ever been captured so well on film. Some may feel it's not action heavy enough but that's exactly what I wanted. Just good, bleak drama that shows how pitiful war can be for not just Germany but on country that feels so inclined to partake. Definitely check this out if you like German films and dark, moody dramas.

This miniseries depicts World War II on the Eastern front from the point of view of five Germans. Though it was generally well received in Germany and elsewhere in Europe, I found it somewhat lacking in its portrayal of the war and its effects on the main characters. Perhaps because of its miniseries format, it tended to drag on at times. The male characters were good, but the two female characters were unconvincing and did not age a bit despite undergoing years of ordeal and deprivation.

One of the best war film I seen so far! I give it 10 out of 10! Germany vs Russia during world war 2!

I came across this mini series from a youtube video clip. The clip alone made me want to take a few hours out of my quiet Sunday evening. It took what seems several websites to finally find all 3 parts. I am really looking forward to purchasing the series. It has been labeled "the German Band of Brothers" and I would tend to disagree each is fantastic in it's very own way. The five young German's are very easy to relate to in the beginning, which makes it scary when you later see what the war makes of each and every one of them. As the youngest of the group states, "this war will bring out the worst in every single one of us," and he couldn't be more right.
