Ever since I read about Gene Roddenberry's attempt to have Genesis II made into a TV show, I was curious about the plot of the show. I thought the film was okay. And I admit I was curious later on, when I read in the Internet Motion picture Data Base (IMDB), that he even wrote a few series episodes to be filmed after the pilot -- assuming the show would be accepted, but it wasn't.
I was curious about some of the characters in the show, and I LOVED that high speed subway in the show.
I also wish the DVD contained a filmed interview of Gene Roddenberry, showing his concept of Genesis II. In one of the Star Trek 1970's convention books, which was written and published after the series ended, I saw a photo of Gene pointing at the high speed subway and apparently speaking about the story of Genesis II.
Instead the DVD only had the story of Genesis II; nothing else.
The story was nice, but I can see why the pilot didn't sell. I enjoyed the show, and I like Gene Roddenberry's ideas of the future, but if I had been in the test audience I probably would not have recommended it to be made into a series either.

I remember seeing most of this as a young boy. Found the title from Star Trek history reading and some internet searching. Love to have this in my collection, now I need the other two Gene Roddenberry 70s sci-fi pilots(Planer Earth and The Questar Tapes)

Yes 70's Sci-Fi Cheese , i ;love it and basically because it harkens to a much simpler formula - soap opera sci-fi ! Check out all these titles as a thread runs through them.

This is the future, maybe in 100 years from now.... the special effects at the time were great. I wished they could have made this into a series. like planet earth and strange new world at the time. This movie of the weekend was good back in the 1970s, but today it would not fly.
