Great Movie about The Godfather of Soul; interesting story; though I have Video's with The Real James Brown in them; one was about him growing up; a few things this new movie doesn't have.

If you like the man you will love the music it's a good movie to remember him by.

The life of James Brown told well with his music!!

The performances in this movie are outstanding! A must see for any music lover!

Get On Up is refreshing by drawing its storytelling flair through the categorization of time periods by the stages of James Brown as an entertainer and his given nicknames at those times. There is hardly any trace of formula in director Tate Taylor's (The Help) biopic and it's even more precise in that it doesn't spend much time on Brown's infamous drug or tax problems, but instead chooses to focus on his extreme work ethic. It is without a doubt Chadwick Boseman's incredible performance that elevates the film from an interesting experiment in editing and performance numbers to something more real and raw. The actors seeming insight into Brown allows Boseman to play his perfectionist, tyrannical and paranoid traits in a way that never feel like an imitation, but more second nature to a seasoned pro.

Absolutely riveting performance by Boseman. If you didn't get into the funk of James Brown's music the first time he sang, don't bother with the movie. Whatever James Brown's personality traits, the man was a genius for his music. I didn't mind the shifting from his early life to the present time. It helped to explain actions James Brown took in his life and why he took them. It did not touch on the darker sides of his character, but it did not spoil the story for me in any way. Most movies don't present "whole cloth" bios, because that's not the kind of movie the director wishes to make. If we wanted ALL movies to be totally honest about their subjects, there would be no movies made. From beginning to end I boogied in my seat and so did quite a few other folks. If Chadwick doesn't get an Academy Award for his performance, there is indeed something wrong in Hollywood.

My my I had no idea of all the things happening in the life of the real life James Brown. Well let me just say Chadwick Bozeman put it all out there. This was a different role I saw him in, but I would recommend it to any adult. I had to pause and take a break a couple of times only because I thought it was deep. If you like Chadwick then you’ll see the talent taken to a different level on screen.

This movie can be painful at times, telling the story of a little boy who grew up to be the "Godfather of Soul" - James Brown. However, the young man who portrayed him did so better than anyone else could have done. He had the fervor, the expressions, the dances, all of James Brown, as they say, "Down to a pat". The benefit of buying the DVD is that you can go back and forth, just in case you missed something. This movie goes backward and forward through time, and you need to make sure that you don't miss something. Enjoy!

Excellent Movie! Chadwick delivered an outstanding performance! Chadwick will be missed and we are all blessed to have the movies he left behind.

Chadwick Boseman has to be one of the best actors of our time. He can complete in body a character and make you feel as though you were there living during those events. This was a great movie to honor James . Everyone needs to see this movie

This is the 1st blue ray DVD I purchased. I got a blue ray for Christmas and was not a big fan previously. After viewing this James Brown video now I am! I do most of my audio video shopping at Best Buy. I also purchased my big screen TV from Best Buy. I appreciate the expertise re: audio products and I especially appreciate the good prices when I make a purchase.

I and my Son enjoyed this Movie. It was very interesting and entertaining. We did not know that he had a hard life with his parents at a young age. But God show him another way he could live

I saw this movie when it came out in the theaters. I just knew I had to add it to my collection. Chadwick was an awesome actor. He truly brought the story of Mr. James Brown to life.

I really like the film like quality of blu-ray DVDs and especially the subject of this movie and the music was fantastic.I also like the special features of blu-ray DVDs. It was recommended to me by my brother and sister-in-law. They watched it on pay-per-view at the hotel they were staying at a few weeks ago.

You can not help but get on up and dance with this movie. Boseman has done it again - he has created James Brown and is nothing like his 42 Robinson - excellent actor with the ability to create two totally different icons. Very good cast and a movie to introduce this generation to soul music of the past.

The picture on the TV is excellent. After viewing a 46 inch flatscreen for the past five years I did not realize there could be such a difference in clarity. It almost looks like there's depth to the picture. Being a smart TV there is a lot for me to learn, I will be able to tell you a lot more later.

the film will give a fearless look inside the music, moves, and moods of THE MAN, taking audiences on the edge. a super movie with great style.

Chadwick Boseman absolutely deserved an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of James Brown in this movie. Well done movie with excellent acting and incredible performance scenes. As Brown ages, you'll forget that it's Boseman playing him: he's that good!
