Gave an interesting perspective of an event in American history.

Kind of a documentary style/reenactment style acting. Great cast, but not as deep, serious, and emotional like some of todays peices and other famous directors pieces. If you are a history and war buff, this will be interesting for you otherwise it can be long and boring if you arent.

I bought this for my uncle and he loved it. I personally cannot vouch for its content but he said it was very interesting and educational. He said he learned a lot about the Civil War that he didn't know, even though he considers himself a Civil War history buff. My uncle recommends this DVD.

Being a serious Civil War history fan, this film is the best thing to actually being there. All of the actors have the look of all of the real people that were there at the time. The Director's cut with the extras is worth purchasing.

I had purchased this movie a couple of times when it was on one DVD with half the movie on each side. There were problems with the product each time. However, it is now on two DVDs and everything was OK. The movie itself is epic and I love Jeff Daniels in his role as a Union Colonel.

Read the list of actors involved and you’ll have a better understanding why I say this is the best war movie ever made. It’s factual and accurate as a documentary, but it’s simply an epic movie. You’ll need a lot of popcorn!

Both Gettysburg and Gods and Generals depict the gruesome horrors of war quite graphically. I felt true sadness for both sides at the loss of life which both sides suffered. Great depictions of 2 major civil war battles where each side took turns loosing.

I am a civil war reenactor and had 4 great great grandfathers who fought with the Union army. None of them were at Gettysburg but that does not lessen the personal and historic impact of seeing this film. I believe everyone should see at least once!

I enjoyed the slow development of this familiar story with good characterizations and many insights on the famous historical figures as well as some less well known ones. Movie might not be for everyone as it is rather long but should not be missed by Civil War Buffs.

One my all time favorite films, back when there was no CGI and it was all practical effects. All the soldiers are living historians who wished to be part of this great film and to honor their ancestors. A must see for any history buff.

Most informative and entertaining DVD set on Gettysburg that I've viewed. Excellent Actors, well performed. Reenactment performers are excellent. Done on Gettysburg Location. Excellent Special Features. Very Affordable, actually very Cheap Priced.

It was easy to do and explains how to . It came fast and I was notified of every step, procedure, and when it was shipped. Overall it was an amazingly quick and i will shop with Best Buy again in the future.

Purchased this movie for my husband. He is a big lover of history based movies. He thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie and will watch it many times more for the historical aspects of the movie as well as the entertainment aspect.

Gettysburg was a pivotal moment in the Civil War as well as the nation's history. The battle scenes are an accurate depiction of the horrors of combat and the dialog is well written and performed.

After taking my daughter to visit Gettsyburg National Battlefield park, she took an interest. I bought this movie and she has a better understanding of this epic battle in American history

Child had a report about the Civil War and he said that a lot of what the teacher was going over in class was in this DVD. Had a lot of new things that he was just finding out about Civil War.

Really good movie. Had it in vhs, but wanted to upgrade it to blu-ray. Good acting. Really puts the Civil War into perspective.

Terrific version of the Gettysburg story. The acting really makes this movie a step above the others. it’s a family favorite.

Great acting, great actors. If you liked Jeff Shaara's book Killer Angels, do not miss this movie. Visit the battlefield in Pennsylvania and you can really appreciate and understand the terrain they fought over.

I love history and Gettysburg is one of them, I actually went to Gettysburg after this movie, Gettysburg was a turning point of the Civil War. good action movie.
