Love the artwork on this one. There are other versions for this movie, but this one is/was my favorite of the bunch.

Great packaging for a great Anime CLASSIC! Now in 4K! BOOM!

Not the best 4k transfer. The whole movie is a hit or miss with the HDR. But it was worth to have the Steelbook.

The classic in 4K! The steel case is beautiful and always nice to have a digital copy.

The previous release of Ghost in the Shell contained the original cut of the film, presented with PCM 2.0 Japanese and English soundtracks. This release sports an English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless soundtrack and a Japanese LPCM 2.0 presentation. English subtitle options are also included. The 5.1 track is the clear winner. It's frequently dynamic and exciting, with full-featured sound effects and strong spacing. Helicopters zip around the stage, for example, and gunfire is met with considerable heft. Dialogue is clear and focused. Musical delivery excels, with a wide, healthy stage and strong clarity. It's worlds more potent and rich than the competing Japanese PCM 2.0 track. Every instance where the 5.1 track is big and exciting, the Japanese track is puny and narrow. Take, for example, a dialogue scene at about the 12-minute mark. In English, there's is an audible, hearty vehicle engine rumble underneath the dialogue. In the Japanese track, it's barely audible. A computerized voice heard around the 15:50 mark is full and offers a wide reverberating presence in English, whereas in Japanese it's flat and narrow. At the 19:40 mark, English track listeners will enjoy a big, immersive city landscape din that's comparatively flat and a sonic non-factor in Japanese. Examples such as these run rampant throughout the film. Those wishing to listen in Japanese will find a much more narrow, less precise, less robust presentation. English listeners are treated to a healthy, dynamic presentation.

What can I say about this movie that hasn’t already been said probably 1 million times….. it’s amazing movie!

The Steelbook itself was a wonderful purchase of good quality, wish Best Buy still carried Steelbooks in general! This was already kind of hard to find for an amateur Steelbook collector, so I'm glad Best Buy had it at the time.

The movie is amazing, very ahead of its time, incredible animation!

This is one of the most influential films I have ever seen in my entire life, every detail, every scene, every shot has some sort of significance to the narrative. the hand crafted delicacy of this 2-d animation boggles the mind and pushes past the technological limits of animation itself when it first came out. This film broke the boundaries of humanistic philosophy and what it means to exist as ourselves in a fully artificial environment where the idea of the self is confirmed by those around you. The set pieces and world building tied together with it's masterful soundtrack will leave any audience members with jaws wide open and to the floor as well as certain thoughts to ponder for days on end. This film is nothing short of pure brilliance.

One of the best movies I have ever watched. Please watch this movie. Buy it too.

Ghost In The Shell is iconic, to say the least. It's right up there with "Akira", being the jumping off point for anime old-heads like myself. The visuals and sound are amazing, as expected. But the painted backgrounds are a visual feast for the discerning eye. I only recently found out there are sequels and TV series based off this IP - might have to check them out some day.

This is identical to the 2020 4K UHD Lionsgate release in all particulars except that this is in a handsome Steelbook case with new artwork on the slipcase and clamshell. I especially like that they've restored the electric green color palette of the original release, before director Oshii decided to start fiddling with it. Exceptional release in every way!

25 years old and still relevant unlike most Western animation that has no impact on the world. Japanese anime like ghost in the shell still influences many around the world. After getting a few dented steelbooks from bestbuy, I was expecting more of the same with this one - not the case! This one arrived in excellent condition and it lacks denting. The outer cover and the steeelbook artwork are very nice, the audio commentary is cool if you haven’t seem them talk in person or etc.

Ghost in the Shell (1996) rocks! The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray is like watching it for the first time – so clear and crisp. The story is wild, the animation is top-notch, and having the digital copy is sweet for movie nights on the go. Totally worth it if you're into cool sci-fi vibes!

Actually bought this because my dog ate the case for the last copy I got (the non-steelbook version). Overall its neat, and cheap enough to justify getting, even though I still have the disk from the other copy. The steelbook case is of standard quality for these sorts of things. Looks nice on a shelf. If you already own the movie it's just cheap enough to maybe justify getting.
