I was totally against this movie from the start. Hated the idea, hated that they remade my favorite all time movie.I decided (with my girlfriends help) to suck it up and go see the "worst movie ever" How can it even stack up to the classic? well, It doesn't! But that's not a bad thing and there's why. Many call the classic Ghostbusters "best movie ever" from a film school standpoint. if that's the case, how many times has Romeo and Juliet been remade? I know its a stretch but how would Shakespeare feel about the Leonardo Decapreo remake? Its good, just NOT the original. Please watch the directors cut. its 100% more funny and flows better than the theater version. "Look lady - I aint afraid of no ghosts" "that's a double negative! that means you are afraid of ghosts!" Why was that joke left out?! anyway. Enjoy!

I found it to be enjoyable. The movie certainly has several moments that made me cringe because it felt too forced and unnecessary (Slimer’s companion). Fortunately, there were enough laugh-out-loud moments and several scenes of sheer perfection (Kate McKinnon kicking butt, you’ll know the one) to outweigh any bad. This is first and foremost a comedy, and not every gag is targeting my demographic, but there are a lot more jokes that land rather than fall flat. One of the few disappointments I have with this movie is that I felt they gave away too much in the trailers, and I rarely felt surprised. Despite that, I came away pretty happy. Don’t believe the social media disdain for “ruining” this iconic movie property. It may not be a masterpiece, but it is certainly a fun ride!

To start off with, I'm not here to review the movie. Some people enjoy it for what it is, and other hate it for the very same reason. Personally I enjoy watching the movie, and him glad that I purchased it. Though I have a 4K TV I do not have a 4K player, so I'm sorry, but I will not be able to review the 4K disk. I did not see it in the theater. I purchased this so I can get the 3-D version. For those of you looking for a movie to see in 3-D that was converted to 3-D, this is the one. The image quality of this disc was wonderful. The 3-D aspects of it were equally wonderful, if not amazing. This is not a budget conversion. I was very surprised to see how well they had done this conversion, and how much depth was placed into every frame. And while we're talking about the frame, I would suggest if your using a projector to keep it at 16 x 9 because they actually have 3-D effects entering the top and on the bottom of the screen for added effect. It's quite an effect! And as for the sound, it's surrounds you, just as it should! This particular set comes with the 4K Blu-ray, 3-D Blu-ray, and a digital ultraviolet copy which expires 12/31/2019. I am glad I purchased it sight unseen. It did not let me down both as a movie, and in the 3-D department.

Okay. Ghostbusters 2016. I'll get my bias out of the way immediately: I'm a huge Ghostbusters fan, the kind of fan that owns every release, built a proton pack, and dreams of owning an Ecto-1 one day. I've been waiting for Ghostbusters 3 for years; I always dreamed of sitting in the theater and seeing that title on the screen. However, after Harold Ramis passed away I knew that was never going to happen, and if it did, it wouldn't be what I wanted. I accepted that, and took GB: The Video Game as the final story of the 1984 group. Fast forward to GB2016. So much press over the gender-swap, I just can't deal with it. I'll put it this way: if you don't like women, yeah you won't like this movie. That said, this is a decent comedy from good people. I trusted Paul Feig, Katie Dippold... Melissa and Kristen. I was willing to accept seeing a new take on the story, just as I've read a novel and the various comics from other artists. In the end, the movie is okay. It did make me laugh, but it was also very disappointing. Sure, it's hard for me to be objective, but that's why this is my opinion. I've seen it about 6 times, and it doesn't hold up to repeat viewings like the original. The jokes are very 'now', there's not much smart humor and the type of jokes you see in comedies today are exactly what you see here. That's where the replay-ability comes from: there's no depth. You see the movie once and laugh, you're done. You can come back in a few years and enjoy it again, but it's more like "Oh yeah, hahaha, that was funny." Also, as much as I loved seeing the references, they really slowed the movie down. Mostly everyone you expect shows up, and some of them just slow the movie to a halt. Feig stated that the only way he knew how to make this movie funny was to reboot it, ignore the timeline of the original so that ghosts appear for the first time. My problem is that he then referenced the first movie so many times and on top of that, the concept of ghosts appearing for the first time doesn't even play out. One final note, and I have to say this... Don't hate this movie because it stars women, please, that's just wrong. However, do be critical of the lies surrounding it's production. This story could have easily been told the same way and connecting it to the same universe with these characters as children or relatives of the original 'busters, but Feig said he wanted these women to build the business themselves instead of being handed it. I'll leave you with this rebuttal: everyone in this production was handed an iconic brand on a silver platter, did any of them actually create it?

Although not tying the plot and origins in with the original is the easy criticism, this movie stood well on its own while paying homage to the original. I thought it was witty and funny and the plot moved along nicely. It seemed like it was genuinely fun to make as the old Ghostbusters seemed to be. Ghostbusters was the first movie I remember watching on HBO before my father turned it off to get the Disney Channel when it was premium. The only movie I've watched more than Ghostbusters 1&2 is Back to the Future. And I've watched them too many times to admit. So yes, I think this was a great movie and wish I also saw it in the theater. Don't listen to the hate! The special features are entertaining too!

I love Ghost Busters and i love the cast of this film, but together its something different. Let me get this out there, this isn't a Ghostbusters film, not for the people that remember and care for the original. This is like a reimagining. The visuals at times work, and its a lot funnier this time. A lot of anti-man jokes, but it's in good fun. It's all light and friendly. I really wanted to hate this film, and on somethings I do. Butvif i see this as NOT a real GB film than it's actually not bad and kinda funny. I personally refused to watch in theaters, rented it, rented again, and finally bought on sale. Lol, it's not GB but what it is is a good time.

I'll admit, when I first heard they were making a new Ghostbusters movie with an all-female cast I was skeptical. When I found out that it wasn't going to be a sequel, but a reboot, I was dead-set against seeing this movie. My daughter convinced me to watch it and I am very glad she did. It was extremely funny and a very well done movie. The story was excellent and the cast did a great job. There also were a lot of reference to the original movies There were cameos of most of the original characters from the classic movies, including Slimer. I still would have rather seen this be a sequel to the originals, but it does stand up well on its own. I am hoping they make a sequel.

The trailers ruined this film's box-office. This is a good movie. There is nothing wrong with it aside from maybe being a bit thin on character development in favor of spectacle. The cast is funny and really makes the concept their own and run with it. Paul Feig and his cast deserve a chance to go on to a sequel to fully shake the dead weight of the past off of this franchise's back. 2 of the 3 shoe-horned in cameos by the surviving original cast are wasteful and distracting. I love the original Ghostbusters as much as anyone, and this was never going to attain the classic status of the original, but it's a huge step up in watchability from Ghostbusters 2.

I don't see what everyone is griping about. This was quite enjoyable. The storyline was completely different and where and why for the ghosts wasn't the same, either. There were a few of the sames but still it was a completely stand alone movie. And for those complaining the most, they obviously did not see in the credits that Dan Aykroyd was an executive producer and Ivan Reitman a producer. So why in the world would they ever allow much less be involved in something that would be seen as a mockery? Anyway, I thought it was great and seeing it in 3D was just AWESOME! In fact, if you have the 3D setup, this movie is a MUST for your collection!! Make sure to stay til the very very end...the story continues thru the credits then they rehash some of the ghosts thru more of the credits and then the final, final scene will make you gasp. It wasn't perfect and if you try to compare it to the other you'll be disappointed, but just open your mind and I'm betting you'll like it. :) There were even a few scenes that bypassed the other...like the equipment they used. So, yeah, buy this movie!

I'll be honest, I went into this not expecting a lot, but was pleasantly surprised. I think they did a good job with the casting. Having cameos by the original cast helped bridge the gap and show they were on board with this project. Hemsworth proved he doesn't take himself to seriously, as he played a buffoon in this. The main characters likewise play to their strong points as well. Serious when they need to be, slapstick comedy in the next breath (spinning head a-la beetlejuice). If you go in with the mindset you're going to laugh and not get hung up on comparing it to the original, you'll enjoy it. :)
