As a fan of the original Ghostbusters movie, I was excited to see this new version when it came out in theaters. After seeing it in the theater, I knew it would be a must buy when it released on blu ray. Because it was a remake, there is a certain element of familiarity, kind of like a sequel, but it still remained fresh and original. One difference is that the new cast brought a new dynamic among the characters and each of the actors has a different style of comedy than the original cast. This was definitely better than many other remakes and sequels and I would recommend it.

I love the way the steelbook looks, it fits in the same style as the other ghostbuster, and for that it gets good marks. As for the movie itself, it was ok. Visuals were great, but I feel as is if they tried too hard to be funny. Dumbing down Chris was a huge mistake in my opinion, so overall it was disappointing with how good the originals are.

It's a pretty good movie, if you don't compare it to the original movies.

it's common to find movies that pend more on effects and cast than on the script to tell a good story. i like collecting movies but i prefer to purchase movies that i will watch over many times and this one is not that, unless I'm showing someone some of the cool effects. I wouldn't recommend this unless you are a fan of the ghost busters.

At first I didn't think I was going to enjoy this based on the movie trailer. After watching it and giving it a chance, knowing these 4 ladies are funny comedic actors, I enjoyed it. I actually liked Chris Hemsworth in this also. And I found myself watching all the Blu-ray extras too. Not a bad film overall...in my opinion.

This movie is not as bad as you think it is or what most will tell you it is. I understand the Ghostbusters is a sensitive subject but I'd say this is worth a view. It's not trying to replace or be better than the first but it's also not trying to do either of the those things. It's just another story of a group of people busting ghosts.

I'm still a fan of Ghostbusters, the fact that they made a new revamp version of it doesn't change that in the slightest. Some may say the new version is not up to par, but I say it's its own thing, and as such, Ghostbusters 2016 is pretty funny. I'm also a big fan of the special edition metal-case Best Buy continues to offer its clients.

We saw the movie in the theater and picked up this version to see the extended 15 minutes of material. Overall, the theatrical version was better - they cut the right parts. The extended is still fine to watch - you can just tell where some of the ad-libs were running long. The Blu-ray contains both the extended and theatrical versions, so you can watch and decide for yourself. Per the movie itself - we enjoyed the first 2 GB films and were pleasantly surprised with this reboot. Some definite call-backs to the original series, but a separate story in it's own right.

I didn't get a chance to see the movie in theaters, but I knew I'd buy it once it came out on Blu-Ray. I was pleasantly surprised with how much fun and how funny the movie was. Between the cameos and Kate McKinnon, I had a blast and was very glad I gave it a chance. I have told all of my friends, who were skeptical about it, to see it.

I am a hard core original fan!!! with that I was both excited and nervous about this reboot. I didn't get the chance to see in theaters and due to ghostbusters fan had to buy not just rent. It is good and if it was not for the original I would have enjoyed more. With that I did enjoy this and wish it would have done better to move on.

I enjoyed the film much more than expected considering my love of the original, the poor track record regarding remakes, and my dislike of the crude and mining humor from a fat woman falling and otherwise being tossed about humor of Melissa McCarthy. The story and cinematography were very good and McCarthy was reasonably restrained.

I unfortunately let other reviews of the movie sway me from seeing it in theaters. My loss! I rented it a couple months after it came out, and I was surprised at how much I loved this movie. I should not have been, given the superb cast of comedians. Fun cameos, scary ghosts, and hilarious dialogue. I bought it and have watched it multiple times, this is a new classic for me. I did not watch the movie thinking it was going to be a remake of the original (which was a HUGE part of my childhood). I CANNOT wait to see the next one with this cast!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent use of the core ideas from the original movie, including some very direct plot beats, but it was kept its own thing. A good example of how to reboot a series while balancing between being an unnecessary duplicate and ignoring everything good about the original. And that thing was good. If this is what we get when you (kinda) remake a movie switching the male protagonists to women, I'm all for it. Slightly more seriously: these are good actors with solid comic timing working with a good script under good direction. Of course the result will be good.

32 years after the original Ghostbusters hit theaters...Some of us looked forward to a more modern edition to come out. With the advent of High-definition and of course newer and better special effects; this was a movie that desperately needed an overhaul.. Not to take away from the originals ingenuity and greatness...but it is great that these newer technologies allow for more believable effects. The writers did a good job with this one! They kept the comedy and great special effects to a high standard while delivering a great addition to the originals....

It wasn't quite as much fun as the first one, but it's still a fast-moving romp with lots of in-jokes & cameos of original actors. A trifle too much socially inept 'Geek' in the female scientist. More & flashier (literally!) special effects and a recap of the original 'Ghostbusters' theme as they swing into action. Might be a bit scary for the youngest kids, fine for older ones & enough nostalgia for us original fans. Chris Hemsworth has great fun doing a total 'dumb blonde' imitation of the original receptionist & is worlds different from his 'Thor' role.

We always buy blue ray/DVD combos so the kids can watch the DVDs in the car on long trips as we travel often, didn't realize until our last trip that his was blue ray only. Also this is one of my daughters favotire movies. Our whole family enjoys it not just for the ladies as some men have been critical of the female reboot.

Let's be honest: this is not the original Ghostbusters. It's very hard to remake and attempt to match one of the best movies of all time. That said, this is still a very fun movie with a ton of heart. The cast is great, the laughs are great and it feels like a Ghostbusters film. Very happy to have it as part of my collection.

The movie is awesome for original ghostbusters fans! Cameos from all the original stars made this an excellent treat. Make sure you watch all the way through the credits or you'll miss the tie in for the sequel. **Don't spend the extra money on the steelcase. Mine was broken upon purchase (that's why I only gave it 4 stars)

I like the movie, but ,I wish I had read the back of the jacket before I bought it. I have a 4k TV but you need one with HDR and the bluray player has to be able to play 4K HDR as well. so I basically paid a lot to watch 1080P . also you need HDMI 2.0A cables or higher. if you have all that fine, if not then don't buy.

I actually enjoyed this movie for what it was. Loved the original, but also liked this and have no problem with the two coexisting. Steelbook design is ok. Not really a fan of the animation theme. I have the other two, but they are variations on the Ghostbuster logo. Would have preferred this match my previous steelbooks.
