Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the Radeon RX 7900XTX's performance, describing it as a powerful card capable of excellent results at high resolutions. However, customers are negative about the card's high operating temperatures, with many reporting excessively high junction temperatures even during idle periods and concerns about potential throttling. Several users noted the card reaching temperatures above 100 degrees Celsius during gaming. The high temperatures appear to be a significant drawback for some users.

Don't buy it, looks elsewhere on AIB cards.

One of the worst reference card experience for years. It's running very high temp, mine just reach 110c during modest gaming. It's very loud, the fan is all the way up to 100% speed It also have high power requirements, about 400w during game session.

Reference card GPU junction temp issues

Bought it open-box "excellent." It was plagued with the high junction temp issue and throttling. Creeps up to 110 degrees Celsius about 5 minutes into gaming. If you'd like to test it yourself, make sure you have AMD adrenaline installed, open up a performance overlay under the performance tab, open up any graphic intensive game like Cyberpunk or MW2 and just sit there. If your junction temp hits 110 degrees in about 5-10 minutes you have the same problem unfortunately. Gigabyte has notoriously slow RMA processes (if they even have 7900 XTX's available so be careful) and if you're buying this open-box from Best Buy and be wary as Best Buy does not check for this junction temp issue only for base functionality of the GPU.

This is my 3rd reference model I’ve ordered between BB and Newegg. Saw nothing but good things about the Gigabyte reference model. Wrong, this one was the worst out of the 3. This one hit 110* in less than a minute in vertical position, let alone horizontal.

No issues with it. Mine Oc'es fine +15% and runs with in the normal 15-20c range for edge and junction temp. No issues with recent purchase. I think AMD has figured out the issue with bathces and bad ones were sent back. No issues running vertical or horizontal

I was paying close attention to the product page and got really lucky the week of the launch to snag one of these for curbside pickup. This is a reference cooler design, supposedly from the same factory as all the reference cards. The only difference is the Gigabyte logo printed on the edge of the backplate which you can't see in these pictures, and the branded retail box. This card design is no-frills by comparison, and is the most compact, which I needed for my small case. I have a home theater-style case so it's mounted vertically and junction temps are 80c max. Even if the fans spin at high RPM, I sit far enough away from my 65 inch OLED to not notice. I likely won't ever use this card in a traditional case, so I have no complaints on the temperature. It's not a huge upgrade over my 6900XT but I'd rather stay current! 100w idle power is a bit annoying to the point where I wouldn't recommend this in a media server. Hopefully that is improved with driver updates.

Im extremely happy and impressed with the RX 7900 XTX. It absolutely destroys everything I can throw it while running max settings at 1440p. Peaks at about 60C under heavy load, which is exactly what I would expect. With the exception of some coil whine when the card is running at full tilt, its absolutely silent and indistinguishable from the other fans in the case. I highly recommend this if you're in the market for a new high-end GPU.

Solid current gen GPU if you get it at the right price. As someone who eventually went 4090 this was a solid option at sub 1000. I think this is "best" at a 900 option. If you see a sale or have rewards by all means get it. But if you have options for Nvidia at the same price you have to see if that eco system fits you best.

I bought this card to replace my 3090ti thinking it would be a big improvement but was I wrong I was getting the same FPS as my 3090ti on MW2, I paired it with a i7-13700K, sadly I returned it due to not seeing the value for me over my 3090ti, other issues I had was the card ran super hot all the time even at idle it would be around 50-60. I have a 011 XL with 10 fans so airflow is not a issue. I'm now going to try and get a 4090 so I can paid it with my 240hz monitor and get ready for high frames 4k.

As the title states, I bought this recently hoping that AMD figured what batches had the junction temperature, thus they’re selling it now on Bestbuy again. Nope, this is my third 7900 xtx(Jan13 was my last bought). They still cant figure it out I guess. Cooler Master(the company that manufactures AMDs’ rederence coolers) botched this up big time. They seem to have zero quality control and assurance(e.g. GP27Q and GP27U monitors). I returned mine and it will be the last reference 7900 xtx that I will get.

Like most who are viewing this item, the card is a hopeful for a good gaming experience for those who dont want to pay green team prices. But just like peak plandemic times, buying a GPU from Best Buy is super difficult. I know I'm not the only person refreshing my phone and browser or having stock alerts set up just to see the card(s) all sell out within 10 seconds. Best Buy, DO BETTER!
