I have built a handful of AMD gaming PC's over the years, and it has always been a smooth experience. The layout is always familiar, and the CPU coolers are easy to attach. This new AM5 board was easy to work with, and has performed great so far. I paired it with a 9600X cpu, an upgraded tower air cooler, and 32GB of DDR5 ram. This thing chews through games without any issues. This was actually the first AM5 platform computer that I built, as all my other AMD builds were on the older AM4 platform. I could tell there was more maturity in the BIOS and config settings of the newer AM5 board, which was nice to see. This particular motherboard has all of the current gen features a gamer would be looking for. Multiple NVME slots has been great for OS and game storage drives. DDR5 ram compatibility hasn't given me any hassles, and overall the machine performs as expected. I was surprised at the weight of this board. It definitely has some heft to it when you take it out of the box and feels like a quality piece of hardware that was well-built. I would highly recommend this board for anyone looking to build a current gen AM5 system.

What an Upgrade! My “old” motherboard was not very old at all but lacked certain features that this Gigabyte X870 Elite gave me. This motherboard has made my PC so much more user friendly and versatile! First of all, it has so many ports: 3 - PCI-E slots 4 - slots for RAM with support for up to 256GB! 4 - M.2 slots 2 - USB-C Thunderbolt 4 11 - Yes, eleven USB-A ports (7 - 3.2, 4 - 2.0) Plus an ethernet, HDMI, mic, and audio connections With all these ports I can’t possibly fill them up. The motherboard also comes with WiFi 7 - no more WiFi dongle! When I setup my PC before this I had to leave some fans out but I’ve got all my fans going now. Installation was easy, though I am experienced. Performance has been great! I’ve noticed better overall reliability and speed since installation, even though I could really upgrade more components now. My 64GB of DDR5 RAM is dwarfed by the maximum 256GB supported by theis motherboard. My AMD chip is also newer (just got it four months ago) so down the road I may upgrade that too to further enhance my PC. This Gigabyte X870 AORUS Elite is the best combination of performance and price I’ve found so far.

    Killer Modular Build

I have thoroughly enjoyed building my highly anticipated AMD gaming rig and the performance is better than I expected and I don’t have a Wi-Fi 7 device…yet. What stands out the most is the build quality and the sheer weight of this board exudes strength and toughness. I guess gone are the days of the wafer thin green motherboards that would make me wince when I were to push in the RAM sticks. I love how modular everything has become, almost Lego like in a very good way. No more ZIF connectors and shoddy levers that can ruin your processor if lowered wrong. These connections have all been replaced by super user-friendly, EZ latches, and EZ plugs. If you’re looking for a gaming rig project and you may not think that you don’t have a lot of computer expertise, but trust me, you can build this out with very little experience and this board doesn’t break the bank either. Aside from having Wi-Fi 7, which I will eventually be using, this board is even more futureproof by supporting up to 256 GB of RAM. I can highly recommend this board as my experience with it has been nothing but positive.

Solid X870 From A PC Stalwart

I am going to make this short. This is an excellent X870 motherboard that just straight performs as expected. I dropped a 9950X3D on the board with 32GB of Crucial DDR5 6400 C38 and it is rock solid with the latest firmware and Windows 11 Pro installed. It has everything you might expect from an X870 board including 40gbps USB 4, WiFi 7, and 3x PCIe 5.0 slots. Coupled to an RTX 5090 and a Samsung Pro 9100 I got fantastic, reliable performance for all of my gaming needs. I have been playing Assassin's Creed Shadows pretty extensively and it played flawlessly for extended sessions with no crashes to the desktop, communication issues with devices, or sudden drops in frame rate due to thermal issues. It just worked. While X870 is not necessarily the least expensive option into current AMD, the Gigabyte X870 Aorus Elite represents a solid entry with a board you could live with long term. Unless you are an extreme overclocker, this board has you covered. This is an easy recommend from a reliable brand, Gigabyte.
