I am going to make this short. This is an excellent X870 motherboard that just straight performs as expected. I dropped a 9950X3D on the board with 32GB of Crucial DDR5 6400 C38 and it is rock solid with the latest firmware and Windows 11 Pro installed. It has everything you might expect from an X870 board including 40gbps USB 4, WiFi 7, and 3x PCIe 5.0 slots. Coupled to an RTX 5090 and a Samsung Pro 9100 I got fantastic, reliable performance for all of my gaming needs. I have been playing Assassin's Creed Shadows pretty extensively and it played flawlessly for extended sessions with no crashes to the desktop, communication issues with devices, or sudden drops in frame rate due to thermal issues. It just worked. While X870 is not necessarily the least expensive option into current AMD, the Gigabyte X870 Aorus Elite represents a solid entry with a board you could live with long term. Unless you are an extreme overclocker, this board has you covered. This is an easy recommend from a reliable brand, Gigabyte.

This is my second experience using a Gigabyte branded board for a build and the experience overall was very positive, with some minor annoyances that may be a "me" problem and not relevant for most people and builds, but I'll touch on the experience and how I got past them. For this particular build, I was upgrading from AM4 to AM5, replacing out a legacy 5600X3D processor and moving up to the following: - AMD 7900X - DDR5 6000 32GB RAM - 850 W Corsair Power Supply - Nvidia RTX 4080 Graphics Card - 2 TB NVME SSD - Win 11 Pro As I was upgrading to the AM5 platform, this was an opportunity to retain my existing SSD, Power Supply, Graphics Card, and replace the motherboard, CPU, and RAM to DDR5. I planned to use this build for a Virtual Pinball machine and to support VR through Virtual Desktop and an Oculus Quest 3. The hardware build process was seamless and took a few hours. I had made a backup of my SSD, and planned to do a clean install of Win 11 and would reinstall the software I needed for the rest of the PC. I only encountered some minor setup issues. First, the Win 11 did not recognize the Wi-FI adapter or Bluetooth on the board and since I had no network connection at the time, it couldn't download the drivers from Gigabyte. Once I connected via Ethernet, established the network connection, I was able to install the Gigabyte Update utility and download the necessary drivers. I also had a Motherboard update that I applied. The rest of the setup was pretty seamless. I have WiFi 7 router, so I can take advantage of the full speeds offered. I also like the fact that this MB has 3 Gen 5 NVME slots. My current SSD is Gen 4, so I'm not getting the full advantage of the slot, but it's an upgrade path that I can take advantage of. The MB also has Gen 5 x16 PCiE slot for the Graphics slot, which is the fastest available for your GPU to take advantage of, if it supports it. I don't do a lot of overclocking, but I can say for the little I have done so far, there are a ton of settings and my system is very stable. One minor issue I were able to work through: in my Pinball cabinet, I utilize the 7.1 Sound Card features on the MB to drive Surround Sound Feedback (SSF), which deliver haptic feedback and positional ball rolling sounds using small speakers called exciters and amps. This board only has two analog out ports on the MB, and to enable 7.1, you need to make software settings changes and repurpose the headphone jack on the PC case to fully enable 7.1. It's documented but took some trial and error to figure out how to get it working. Overall though, it was a straightforward build and the motherboard is feature rich with many forward thinking features, like WiFi 7, Gen 5 PCiE and NVME slots, etc. I love the AM5 platform as it offers upgradeability too, so when I am ready, I can upgrade my CPU w/o having to do a full rebuild, providing longevity and support in the platform for years to come.

What a better way to start a computer build than having a great motherboard to pull everything together! The Gigabyte Aorus Elite X870 is a higher end board that utilizes Ryzen chipsets with AM5 Socket. It is also uses Wifi 7 with its own unique antenna. I have only built a few computers, none with motherboards as advanced as this one. With that, I am thoroughly impressed at the quality of this board, what it offers, and its future upgradability. The Rear IO offers a lot. 4 standard USB ports, 4 USB 3.2 Ports, 2 USB-C Ports, and something I have not seen before, BIOS dedicated USB 3.2 ports. It also has a digital SPDIF out, on top of standard Ethernet, line out, and Mic. The Wifi 7 uses a separate port completely. This is a full ATX board and needs a medium to large case that is capable of housing a full size board. I have chosen to use a Ryzen 9 9950x with my build and seated with no issues. Attaching a cooler was simple as well. I chose to go with 64GB DDR5 Ram across all 4 slots. The push down and snap is nice on this board and was able to clearly tell that my ram was seated. The block cover for the m.2 drives is really cool in design, but you do need to make sure that you install all of your hard drives first before installing the graphics card, as the graphics card will hang lower than the plate and will have to be removed to add or change the m.2 storage. The plate also serves as a heat sink for the storage. In total, there are 4 m.2 plug ins.l I have never had a board that had a posting display, so that is a cool part of this. This board comes with a ton of fan controllers and several RGB controllers as well. After hooking everything up, I already had a m.2 drive loaded with Windows 11 that I used and was able to easily get updated drivers and BIOS updates. Had no issues with my wifi 7 controller and using that. On gigabit ethernet, it is much faster than previous wifi cards. The Bios configuration for Gigabyte is very cool. It offers so many options and I needed to watch many videos about setting up properly and get into overclocking. Overall this is an excellent motherboard and was able to complete my build with very little issues, besides by lack of experience. Everything posted, drivers updated, and BIOS updated from Gigabytes website with much ease. I would recommend this board to anyone building a Ryzen configuration.

When I ordered this motherboard I thought that "it's just a motherboard" and didn't have super high expectations. Even still, I have been very pleasantly surprised by the quality and features of the board and am happy I got it. Pros: Build quality and features. This motherboard feels premium from the design to the materials. There are plenty of examples but the first that sticks out to me are the m.2 slots. Not only are there four (yes, Four!) of them, the heat sinks secure via a tab/ latch and not those terrible, tiny screws that many of us have to fish around our pc cases for after dropping them. Yes, I know magnetic screwdrivers exist. This is still a really nice build decision. Similarly, the GPU has a very nice quick release latching system that I quite enjoyed. The motherboard was also very easy to physically install and I was able to reuse the AIO from my previous AM4 build with ease. Cons: Quirks in setup. I feel like on every PC build you run into quirks in the software that can be a hassle. This time, it was for drivers/ Wi-Fi. For whatever reason, the Wi-Fi attena didn't work originally during windows setup/ install so I had to tether from my phone. I had to update drivers through windows and the gigabyte app to get the Wi-Fi to work. Also, when updating drivers through the Gigabyte app it tried to get me to install Norton antivirus which was certainly annoying. All in all, this is a fantastic product that performs very well and has all the modern features you would expect/ want in a modern motherboard. I would definitely recommend it.

I have built a handful of AMD gaming PC's over the years, and it has always been a smooth experience. The layout is always familiar, and the CPU coolers are easy to attach. This new AM5 board was easy to work with, and has performed great so far. I paired it with a 9600X cpu, an upgraded tower air cooler, and 32GB of DDR5 ram. This thing chews through games without any issues. This was actually the first AM5 platform computer that I built, as all my other AMD builds were on the older AM4 platform. I could tell there was more maturity in the BIOS and config settings of the newer AM5 board, which was nice to see. This particular motherboard has all of the current gen features a gamer would be looking for. Multiple NVME slots has been great for OS and game storage drives. DDR5 ram compatibility hasn't given me any hassles, and overall the machine performs as expected. I was surprised at the weight of this board. It definitely has some heft to it when you take it out of the box and feels like a quality piece of hardware that was well-built. I would highly recommend this board for anyone looking to build a current gen AM5 system.

I have thoroughly enjoyed building my highly anticipated AMD gaming rig and the performance is better than I expected and I don’t have a Wi-Fi 7 device…yet. What stands out the most is the build quality and the sheer weight of this board exudes strength and toughness. I guess gone are the days of the wafer thin green motherboards that would make me wince when I were to push in the RAM sticks. I love how modular everything has become, almost Lego like in a very good way. No more ZIF connectors and shoddy levers that can ruin your processor if lowered wrong. These connections have all been replaced by super user-friendly, EZ latches, and EZ plugs. If you’re looking for a gaming rig project and you may not think that you don’t have a lot of computer expertise, but trust me, you can build this out with very little experience and this board doesn’t break the bank either. Aside from having Wi-Fi 7, which I will eventually be using, this board is even more futureproof by supporting up to 256 GB of RAM. I can highly recommend this board as my experience with it has been nothing but positive.

Somewhat expensive Details ------- This summer i decided to take up the task of building a PC using the motherboard and AMD processor. This motherboard was a good starting point. The motherboard is easy to build , i currently do not have a wifi 7 router but its future proof. ONce setup, i tried playing Assasins creek and it worked flawlessly. I love the fact that this one has a HDMI port and i can use that to connect instead of the display port. The 12x USB Type A port comes in handy when connecting devices. Overall this is a good purchase just wished the cost was lower/
