This is not a superhero movie or an action-packed sci-fi flick, this is a psychological thriller with people having supernatural abilities...or do they really have these abilities and are they really supernatural?? Just like in Unbreakable and Split, you will have your doubts and theories but in the end, it all ends up going in another direction and then another one.

The conclusion to the Eastrail 177 trilogy by M. Night Shyamalan. This movie was very entertaining and enjoyable. If your a fan of Unbreakable or Spilt you will love this movie. I would recommend getting the Best Buy exclusive if it's still available at your store.

M. Night Shyamalan does it again. Love the cinematography of the shots. The plot was fantastic and a great wrap?, hopefully not, of the three part series. Wasn't too scary, and really matches the pg13 rating. Family friendly for those older ones.
No superfluous comedy like those trashy marvel films.

This is not my favorite of the Trilogy, I enjoyed Split much more. And in this film, much like Split, I find James McAvoy to be the highlight.
Overall I found this film to be fine, but not something Ill rewatch often. Willis and Jackson really aren't given much to do. They are fine in their rolls, but nothing memorable from them. The story is decent with a fun twist at the end.
Now for just a moment on why I gave this film 4 stars. James McAvoy. His character has a split personality and I don't just mean 2. He plays 20 different personalities and is amazing. Men, women, children and The Beast. His ability to cycle between characters is something to behold. I really can't think of another performance I can compare to this. Sometimes when he switches you can tell just from the new look on his face, sometimes even just looking into his eyes.
Good amount of behind the scenes special features as well. If you are a fan of Split and/or Unbreakable I would think you would really enjoy this flick. Otherwise, well you still have McAvoys performance to behold but the story will probably fall a bit flat.

Samuel L Jackson certainly earned his eponymous credit before he even speaks a word in the film. It was also great to see him in a comic film where the third act was not only unpredictable but didn’t revolve around a black hole in the sky...or a city getting destroyed...or the world watching it all unfold at some landmark. It even slightly tongue in cheek mocked that idea as even being necessary for a final showdown.
I feel like where the Marvel formulaic recipe and bright, glossy look is so embedded in the zeitgeist as “what a comic movie should be,” people are struggling that a third act of a trilogy ISN’T that. It’s not full of sprawling, world trekking setpieces or a CGI infested final act. Not to mention, while the film (like all of Night’s) has levity and comedy, it’s major drama and action moments arent infused with constant puns and one liners to remind you no one is really in danger. Cause, in this world, they are.
Anyhow this is a fun release that allows you to choose which character is your cover. The video and audio presentations are top notch as well.

This is not to say that it is not a 'good' movie, only that it probably could have been even better.
MNS does a nice job integrating material from he previous installments (Unbreakable, Split), bringing the characters together nicely into a serviceable final chapter in his trilogy.
Technically speaking images are clear, with slight film grain notable providing the images in this film, bringing the image quality into line with that of the previous installments.
Audio is mixed and dialog from the front center channel being clear and well positioned. I would have liked a bit more from the remaining channels to provide added effects to further draw the viewer into the film, but what usage of the channels was reasonably active and well placed.
I would not recommend this movie for technical, so much as I recommend purchasing it as a very nice resolution to a trilogy.

First off to truly appreciate the Glass movie you must see the prior films Unbreakable and Split in that order to avoid not understanding the true meaning of Glass. Some have compare these films to the "Marvel Superhero" films, that's not the case and if you do you will be disappointed with Glass. I liked the film although I thought it bogged down in the second half. As to the performances, once again James McAvoy shines in this film (as well as in Split). Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson both deliver their best performances in years too, but James McAvoy performance deserves an Oscar nomination. Overall the film is a worthy conclusion to the trilogy, I only wish the second half of the film hadn't felt like it had run it's course and was flat. Also without giving anything away, unfortunately the ending was a bit of a letdown too.

The long anticipated conclusion to the surprise trilogy that is Glass is about to begin it’s theatrical run. This movie is 19 years in the making. Unbreakable has long been my favorite M. Night movie and the surprise ending of SPLIT being the next chapter in the story was absolutely mind blowing when it was revealed in the theater and seemed to cement M. Night Shyamalan’s return to form after years of flops but he’s had a few positive entries to his resume (The Visit, Season 1 of Wayward Pines) that were strong indicators of his return to quality. So it’s little surprise that this movie is so highly anticipated by anyone whose ever been a fan of his. Now the big question: Did he deliver?
The answer to that is a mixed bag. I am very torn (You might say I’m split. Haha) on this movie and I feel like I won’t be alone in this assessment. I will try to give as much of a spoiler free review as possible, sorry for the vagaries that are to come but I don’t want to ruin this for anyone.
GLASS picks up about three weeks after the events of SPLIT. David Dunn (Bruce Willis) has become a bit of an underground crime fighter in the years between now and unbreakable and is patrolling the streets trying to find The Beast. He eventually finds him but in the process of their fight they are both apprehended by the police and sent to a mental institution where Dr Ellie Staple (Sarah Paulson), a psychologist who specializes in people who believe they are super heroes and tries to cure them of their delusion. Surprise! Mr. Glass (Samuel L Jackson) is also there but seems to have suffered a mental break between movies and is now basically a vegetable in a chair. If you’ve seen the trailer you know that Glass is faking and arranges to break himself and the Beast out of the institution and it’s up to David to stop them.
Seems like a solid plot. However, viewers will likely become frustrated with some of the stupid things that Dr. Staple and the other orderlies do. You will be saying “Well that’s dumb” at least 20 times throughout the film though, some of the dumb things become a little less stupid once one of the THREE classic M. Night twists are revealed. That’s right, there are three, if not four (depending how you look at it) twists in this movie!
James McAvoy once again brings his A game to the table rapidly cycling through many different personas in a given scene and that is impressive to watch in it’s own right. Samuel L Jackson and Bruce Willis also do a good job but in the wake of McAvoy’s hurricane of acting take a back seat to what is going on over there. As always in an M. Night movie the cinematography is great along with the color palette.
So, should you see this one? I would say yes. It is slow, but so is Unbreakable, I like to call the pacing deliberate. The side characters do some dumb things and the movie is kind of an anti-climax. BUT it is the conclusion of the events of Unbreakable, you get a really great performance from McAvoy and while the final battle is anticlimactic it also makes sense and is foreshadowed by Mr. Glass earlier in the movie (I’m summarizing): “This isn’t a comic book, this is real life. There are limits to what is possible.” Unbreakable came out in 2000 and has long been one of my favorite super hero stories, to put into perspective Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man came out in 2002. I feel like the impact that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has had on super hero movies since then has change the game exponentially and has raised expectations for what should be in a super hero movie. GLASS is in the same vain as it’s predecessor UNBREAKABLE. These movies are grounded in reality and opt away from big CG battles so maybe anything other than that will feel anti-climactic from this point on, who can say.

With Superheroes and Universes being the rage in Hollywood, once fame direct M. Night Shaylaman decided to enter himself in the picture. When he first entered the film world, Shaylaman was hot and the next upcoming direct with hits like The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and Signs. Then he slid and hit a real rough patch in his career. Then, he had a film called The Visit which was a promising turnaround in career followed by Split which brought him back in the light. Glas is the 3rd entry of Unbreakable, Split, and now Glass. Glass is a solid follow up with usual Shamaylan twist at the end. Fans of his work, the previous two chapters, and Superhero films will like this film. Well recommended !

Director M. Night Shyamalan closes out his Eastrail 177 trilogy with his latest film, Glass from Universal Pictures. Serving as a sequel to both 2016’s Split and 2000’s Unbreakable, Glass find David Dunn (Bruce Wills) utilizing his superhuman strength to fight crime using the alias, “The Overseer.” Meanwhile, in the two years since Split, Kevin Wendell Crumb (James McAvoy) who has multiple personality disorder is continuing his evil deeds. When David learns that Kevin is holding a group of cheerleaders captive he springs into action. During the attempted rescue, David encounters “The Beast,” the most menacing of Kevin’s personalities.
Through a series of events, both men end up in a mental institution, where David encounters his former archenemy Elijah Price aka “Mr. Glass.” (Samuel L. Jackson). While Elijah and Kevin think they are supervillains, David believes he is a superhero. Soon all three men are under the care of Dr. Ellie Staple (Sarah Paulson) who wants to cure the men from what she thinks is a mental illness. What the doctor does not know is that Elijah has an ulterior motive and plans to use Kevin to achieve his goal.
I have never considered myself a fan of M. Night Shyamalan previous films. Of the thirteen films, he has directed I only enjoyed four of them. Thankfully Glass falls into the category of Shyamalan films that I enjoy. One of the strengths of Glass is the film’s screenplay, as Shyamalan’s script for the film comes across as an intelligent comic book film. While there are, some great action set pieces; Glass is more about accepting your fate, no matter how difficult that may be.
Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson are both excellent in their roles, and it was great to see the two reunite on screen together for the first time in nineteen years. In my opinion, Sarah Paulson is one of the best actress working today, and she is excellent as Dr. Ellie Staple. The standout performance of the film though is James McAvoy as Kevin.
Taking on 23 different personalities, McAvoy is astonishing to watch on the screen. Portraying different personality types from a foul-mouthed teenage girl to a nine-year-old boy to a pervert with OCD, McAvoy’s performance alone is worth the price of admission. In a lesser actor’s hand, the role could have come across as comical, however, with McAvoy, the performance is a success.
While Glass is generally enjoyable, some of the issues I have with M. Night Shyamalan’s films are present. Ideally, M. Night Shyamalan should have given audiences a proper sequel to Unbreakable before Split. While he does deserve praise for linking Split and Unbreakable, fans of the latter may leave Glass disappointed. Like some of his previous work, the first and third act of Glass is the strongest with the middle section being a bit weak. Known for having a twist in his films, the twist in Glass is not as mind-blowing as his previous work, but it is still effective.
The supporting cast whose characters all have a pivotal connection to our three leads serve no real purpose in Glass. Returning from Unbreakable, Charlayne Woodard & Spencer Trent Clark who portray Elijah’s mother and David’s son do not have any merit in their roles. The same sentiment holds for Anya Taylor-Joy who was our female lead in Split in Glass she is a bit underwritten.
Sans a few pacing issues and slow second act, I do recommend Glass. More of a character study about human nature, as opposed to a CGI, filled spectacle; Glass closes out close out the Eastrail 177 trilogy with success.

I'd give this one a 4.5 rating if I could. I thought this was a pretty good film to tie in the two earlier related films. Nice to see the cast back together (i.e. an adult Spencer Treat Clark) and reprising/expanding their roles.
If you like M. Knight's work you'll definitely like this... far better than most big budget "blockbusters" as it relies far more on the writing/directing and of course the actors, rather than a bunch of tired and by now clichéd CG-special effects. To see James McAvoy expand his role is alone well worth the purchase for a video library!!!

While many people are divisive on how good or bad Glass is as a film, this 4K UHD blu ray release is a strong Home video release for the movie.
Packed with over an hour of special features, there’s a good amount of content that explores the making of the film. Some good behind the scene me featurettes and a LOT of deleted scenes.
The picture and sound transfer on this 4K blu ray are gorgeous. Even though the film was shot on digital and the picture is just an upscale from regular 1080p, you still get a benefit on this format.
I would say if you’re a fan of the movie, or even if you just want to complete the trilogy for your collection, this is a great pick-up to grab!

First off really enjoyed the movie, looks great in 4K. For this review I’m just covering the packaging. The actual art cards look great and are of good quality, my only issue is with the slipcover. They did not give it a full spine art treatment, which results in this release looking a bit off on a shelf, and it’s a bit warped likely from the heat used to apply the shrink wrap. Still it’s a nice unique case, just there are examples of this done better like one of the store exclusive releases for Star Trek Beyond.

Glass brings the Unbreakable and Split stories together to finally provide closure to, mostly, the Unbreakable story, and allows M. Night to show off his super hero/villian universe in a more realized way. It's apparent the budget was small due as you can see where he really had to cut corners to save $$$ (Elijah's mothers make up is horrible, the big battle is in a parking lot, etc). I still enjoy this movie, but wish it could have been so much more.

If you’ve seen “Unbreakable” and “Split” you have to watch this movie!!! It was excellent! All the characters are in one movie. Each character had an important role to play in the movie. After watching this movie I wanted to rewatch “Unbreakable” because it had been a while since I’d seen it. I wanted to see the little things I’d messed. I’ve watched “Split” a number of times. I’ve really enjoyed the series. I hope there will be more to come.

While watching the movie I couldn't help but think could people out there that truly believe and can do extraordinary things. Living in fear and secrecy. Do people like this really exist or is it impossible? And once it's found that these people do exist are they truly and really exterminated due to fear, change and Mankind's inability to control what he does not understand. This movie definitely conveyed the message.
