This little known movie is a really good movie that did not receive much attention when it was released in 1978. With lots of little known actors, Burt Lancaster is naturally the center piece of this movie about the Vietnam conflict. Set very early in the war, the only thing holding this movie back was the limited budget. It has Burt Lancaster so you need to watch it.

Go Tell the Spartans is an anti war movied as are all war movies. This movie presents the "advisor's" experience in Viet Nam better than any other that I have seen, providing a fair insight into the points of view of the VC the VN people and the US advisors that were there. I was in VN a decade or so later and served with the same sort of people, and in a situation that was not very different. If you are interested in gaining some understanding of the Viet Nam "war" this is probably the most accurate movie available.

Even though Burt Lancaster and other stars were in this movie , it seemed very "home made" and cheap.
