Ok so I wont go into detail about the movie instead I'll write about the expectations. This movie was this years first big bomb at the box office and isnt something I'd have gone to see anyway for what it cost to see a movie these days. I will say it was a great movie on a grand scale and as an after thought i more than likely would have loved to have seen this on the big screens. I bought it with low expectations but was very pleased with what i watched.

It’s a little weird, because some of the acting and dialogue comes across as pretty lame, but this is one of those special effects epics that’s definitely fun. It’s pretty original, and if you can get past its faults it’s pretty enjoyable. Not nearly as good as Dark City, a great one by the same director.

A visually resplendent and deeply silly romp.

What a peculiar film. The visually resplendent latest from director Alex Proyas ("The Crow," "Dark City") caused an uproar when its first trailer was released, with many complaining that the movie’s ancient Egypt had been whitewashed with hunky beefcake like Gerard Butler and "Game of Thrones"’ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. In reality, Proyas’ spectacularly realized digital playground is Egypt in name only. Sure, there are pyramids, but they’re wondrous creations, made of swirling sands, and the titular Gods—Set (Butler), Horus (Coster-Waldau), Hathor (Elodie Yung) and Thoth (Chadwick Boseman)—are portrayed by Scottish, Danish, French-Cambodian and African American actors, who may as well be playing Marvel superheroes, given their stature (they’re twice the size of mortals) and their propensity to, say, transform into winged robots made of chrome, or to clone their bodies to appear in multiple locations at once. Speaking of those mortals, the film’s hero, Bek (Brenton Thwaites) is as bland as they come, but the adventure he undertakes—teaming up with Horus to simultaneously take down the evil Set and save his slave love, Zaya (Courtney Eaton)—is a deeply silly romp that evokes old Saturday afternoon serials, with Butler doing his hammy best to recall bygone idols like Victor Mature. Divertingly cheesy.

really liked this movie. The development of the city in Egypt is great. It shows imagination. I did like the different aspect of the Gods and Goddess and the way they were shown. I was a little bit off on what I know of the Egyptians Gods. Gerald Bulter did a good job of playing Set. Considering I was watching StarGate just before. It took me a few minutes to switch gears but the beauty of the film helped a lot. I bought this film.

A solid movie with a decent plot and good fantasy action. Its re-watchable unlike many other movies these days. The CGI in the movie looks fantastic on the LG OLED TV even on Blu-ray. And this is the first movie I have tried with a DTS:X audio track. During the action scenes, it sounded great but it was difficult to hear the dialogue so had to crank up the center speaker output because everything else was so overbearing.

I missed this in the theater and saw that many of the reviews were not kind. Seeing that this was a Best Buy exclusive steelbook with the 3D version added, I decided to give it a blind buy. I was more impressed with the 3D and the visuals than the story but want to point out it was an enjoyable escapist movie. The soundtrack was equally fitting to the visual scale and overall, I'm glad I added it to my collection.

As a fan of mythology and science fiction, I found this film to be very enjoyable. The story line was easy to follow and the acting was very good. Just enough humor and mayhem to keep it lively and interesting. The computer graphics were very impressive and I found the creatures to be well designed and interesting. The snakes which the wicked goddesses road as their mounts were awesome. The fact that the "gods' were larger and far more powerful than the mortals whom they ruled were well done. The struggle between the good and bad gods was kept in balance well enough to make the story line more believable. Since I am a horror/sci-fi Blu ray collector I do go out of my way to get the steel book editions.

This movie got a lot of nasty reviews, but it's actually quite entertaining. It never takes itself seriously at all. They bleed gold for crying out loud. A very handsome 3D presentation and an amazing surround track with some good bass and surround effects. I only have a 7.1 set up and not height channels for the entire DTS: X experience. Yes it's super cheesy but a heck of a lot of fun!

I didn't have the problem with the movie some have with the people playing the roles not be ethicnically appropriate because they weren't eygptian??? I loved the movie it was fantastic and I have watched it a dozen times! I thought for a movie that was done mostly blue screen it was awesome. It seemed real enough to me....the scenes, action, and story were awesome!!!

I bought this movie when it was relatively cheap at my local Best Buy. The movie has great visuals and tries to incorporate Egyptian mythology so for those who are not aware of who is who may need a refresher course. Overall it is not a bad movie, but I did not set out to buy it, the price I found it at was my main reason for purchase.

The 3-D version was good....it made a lame movie more palatable, but I was slightly disappointed with the conversion. Maybe it suffered in comparison to Exodus which I watched the night before. I enjoyed the 3D experience in Exodus more than with this flick, but my review could be biased because it was a stronger movie than Gods and Kings.

It feels like a sleek highly produced live action movie comparably to stories like Sinbad and of course Aladdin. I know the Egyptian mythology gets a very bad rap from everybody (everybody) but its part of history (not this movie) and this adventure is just a well made fun for the whole family. In conclusion if Egyptian fantasy movies are your trip, well this is the one! Hooray! I want to turn into a giant have lots of riches beautiful immortal women, and annoying back stabbing enemies! Hooray!

So this isn't a very good movie, but I got it very inexpensively. It's beautiful to look at and the action is lots of fun at times. It's what I call a Saturday afternoon movie that you can watch with your brain turned off.

This film is by no means a revelation in dialogue or acting. For what it's worth it is very entertaining to watch. If you enjoyed the cg heavy blockbusters like the newer clash of the titans and wrath of the titans like me, and find those entertaining, then add this one to your collection. It's worth it in 4k if you have the hardware.

Gods of Egypt is a well written story plot and let's your imagination run. Seeing this movie in 3D Blu-ray really adds to the special effects. I also recommend watching the extra features that show how the movie is made, very interesting.

This is one of those old mythical stories of ancient Egyptian gods. Its got betrayal, ambition, love story, reluctant hero, etc. Winged beings believed to be Gods, whos blood is made of gold rule Egypt. A little far fetched, but entertaining on the special effects alone. Most likely would not watch it more than twice in a year.

This is not an Academy Award type movie. OI don't think I hurt the producer's or talent's feelings in saying so. And I don't think I surprise anyone who would watch the movie. What it is - it is a good sit on the sofa with some popcorn and just enjoy the movie. Good escape for a couple of hours from the drudgeries of your life.

Okay let's get this started! The film may not accurate to history but people it's entertainment! Yeah as long as Hollywood has hands in it they will choice who they want to play what. Just love it as it suppose to be entertainment! But let's get off of that the cgi is awesome and the action is average but worth the watch.
