Great for shredding CDs/DVDs but not paper

This is a great CD, DVD, and card shredder. It is very powerful but the shred time is slow to medium speed. The cd/dvd shred feature works 92%-95% of the time but will leave some unshredded pieces. So be sure to sift through your shreddings and pick out the large CD/DVDs pieces and run it through again with a small piece of cardboard to shred it into smaller pieces. It is not quiet at all when shredding CDs or DVDs but most shredders aren't quiet anyway. I used a multitude of media shredders and they're all loud so I dislike when one of the shredder features state it's quiet. I don't recommend shredding items that have your personally identifiable information (PII) (like SSN, bank account number, birthday, etc...) as the shred pieces are to large; it does not shred paper as fine as my older Staples shredder I got 5 years ago so I was sorta disappointed with the paper shredding. You can shred a bunch of paper but I only recommend stuff that you can take an acceptable risk such as junk mail, school work, etc... I recommend getting the warranty as shredders can break easy if you aren't careful or if you don't follow the manufacturers operating instructions.

This is a very good micro-cut shredder. It takes a sheet of paper and turns it into tiny particles. You can shred about 20 sheets at once. I use it for my home office and it is safe to shred anything that has important information that you don't want others to be able to read.

It is quiet, micro cuts, fast & let's you know when bin is full. It auto reverses before it stops to make sure nothing is caught up in the machine. I would definitely recommend.

Failed In Less Than One Year

I purchased this expensive shredder in hopes that it would outlast the retail units that usually fail after a year. In lieu of using the supplied lubrication sheets exactly as indicated, the unit locked up tight. Being that this was still within the warranty, I contacted the manufacturer. Regardless of what I indicated to them, they still placed the blame on user error, were extremely dismissive, and refused to honor their warranty. As a professional mechanical engineer, I disassembled the unit. I found broken teeth missing from individual cutters and most notably found the drive shafts failed due to lateral deformation. Upon closer inspection of the individual cutters, I found that while they were indeed heat treated, they were never tempered rendering them quite brittle. The bent drive shafts are made from inexpensive cold rolled steel as opposed to a stronger A2 grade of steel. The motor and drive gears however are highly overbuilt and could probably propel a bulldozer. Not even the nylon gear designed to fail in the event of over-torque showed the slightest amount of wear. This unit is no more reliable than a $100 retail purchased paper shredder.

This shredder is the I best have ever used. It shreds a stack of paper into tiny pieces. It shreds credit cards to nothing. Great for shredding important documents up. Highly recommend for any business.
