Gone Girl directed by David Fincher has a terrific cast. The 149 minute feature film stars Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike with supporting roles by Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry. This title of this film gives you the premise. A wife disappears and the husband is the prime suspect. The journey of the husband is full of dramatic plot twists with a even has a surprise ending.
The package contains a Blu ray disc and digital copy (available for streaming or download). Also included in this package is a complimentary copy of, "Amazing Amy Tattle Tale," by Rand and Marybeth-Elliott Ph.D

This movie is rated, R. The feature is not for the faint of heart!! In fact if you love drama, mystery, thrills and don't mind a bit of adult mischief this may be the perfect movie to add to your home collection.
Sound mastered in Dolby DTS 7.1. English, and Dolby Digital 5.1 for both Spanish and French.

Good movie. Love the fact that this movie has Neil Patrick Harris in it. He's always been on the top of my list of favorite actors. Of all the suspense movies I've seen... about a woman who goes missing and her Husband gets blamed for her disappearance... I think this one takes the cake. Really makes you think about the fact that you think you know someone and then one day they surprise you. Very good movie overall though. I would give this one an A+. I highly recommend this one !

Great film! I remember talking to a buddy about this movie and he said "Isn't that a chick flick?" Ha! Not the kind you're thinking! The story and the cast are so great, but the music really holds it together and gives you that feeling of dread. Get it if you don't got it!

I don't know why but that dumb smile Ben Affleck does next to the image of his missing wife makes me laugh so hard. I had to have that forever so I bought this movie. Only 10$ and a good flick. Grab a copy!

You would think that the mystery would wear thin after a few viewings but this is still fun to watch to see if you can find all of the hints as the movie unfolds. Rosamund Pike holds just enough back that each new thing you learn about her character feels like a revelation that has been earned, not a cheap misdirection. The set included a copy of an "Amazing Amy" book, which adds another dark twist after watching the movie.

This move is great. I didn’t see the ending coming that’s for sure and I normally can predict the ending after watching for five minutes.

A return to form for David Fincher

"Gone Girl" felt like a return to form for David Fincher, and I mean that in an entirely positive way. Sometimes "return to form" might imply a deficit on the part of the creator/auteur, but in this case I refer to Fincher's return to the thriller genre he tends to show great understanding of, such as in Zodiac and Seven. His absence has in no way been due to lack of talent on his part, as his work with The Social Network and tv's House of Cards has been more than solid.
Gone Girl's pacing and process of revelation amid twists, turns, and manipulation would grant you forgiveness for forgetting that the film runs nearly two and a half hours, as nearly every scene and moment of dialogue feels purposeful and valuable in explaining the characters and film's mystery to us. Said pacing and tone is subtly but oh so importantly augmented by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' haunting score of synth and occasional strings and minimalist percussive beats that occasionally swell to the risk of explosion.
Ben Affleck gives us a performance as a man teetering on the knife edge of anger and despair that risks implosion on either side as he investigates the disappearance of his wife, as portrayed by Rosamund Pike. Affleck's character borders on sinking into aggressive madness as the film develops, and all tides seemingly threaten to consume him.
Pike's performance is varied and tense in such a manner that the film's tension and mystery during her absence in various scenes is heightened all the more as we see things unravel towards the conclusion. I could easily see an Oscar nomination arising for her due to this role. Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry deliver engaging supportive roles along with Carrie Coon and Kim Dickens.
This is certainly a thriller but in more the slow-burn kind of way. We aren't hit an onslaught of revelations, actions, or tension. Rather, the tension develops itself organically and dynamically just on the edge of our minds, almost becoming a separate character in the film.
What I felt most prominently in the film is manipulated as a viewer, and I say that as a compliment. We have a natural tendency at times to side with various characters as a story develops, often seeking to identify a clear-cut antagonist and protagonist that we can easily demonize and champion. While I felt my mind and thought process gravitating towards these relatively natural conceptualizations, by the film's end I realized I had been unknowingly and subversively driven out of this process by the film's own machinations and manipulation of its characters. I could in no way cleanly or easily designate the characters' archetypes, despite the dissonance my mind experienced in trying to naturally do so.
Gone Girl is easily a firm contender for Oscar acknowledgement between Fincher's direction, Reznor and Ross' score, Pike's acting prowess, and the structure and delivery of the film as a whole. Welcome back, David.

This beautiful blu-ray comes with a digital code and a great collector's book that compliments the film. The movie itself, it one of the best films of 2014. It is full of suspense and is one of the greatest whodunits I have seen since the 70's giallo films.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

Excellent thriller that has you guessing from the start; playing detective and surprised when the blanks begin to fill in. Great performance from Rosamund Pike as the "missing" woman, and Ben Affleck has a solid performance also. I personally thought the ending could have been better written, but it still shines as an overall good movie. Definitely recommended viewing.

Pretty incredible, despite some unbelievable plot conveniences. You might be better off picking up a different version of the blu ray; this one comes in an awful cardboard box and the booklet that comes with it isn't substantial enough to make up for it.
