The product lasted less than a month before failing.

Works as expected, but i was looking for a device more towards a stream stick

This device has a number of problems with it. In comparison to the competition, chose a Roku instead. I initially bought this for screen casting and for watching videos like hulu, amazon. It doesn't work with amazon services. Why? I'm guessing that Google doesn't want to play nice with Amazon. It only can screen cast from a chrome browser nicely. Everything else is cumbersome. We find that you always need to find your phone to control the device if there is a problem with it, such as over-heating. Overall, I should have bought only a 2nd Roku device, which has a controller, better privacy settings, works with every streaming service, and can screen cast.

Don't waste your money, too many glitches. Also it's losing connection every minute. Very disappointed

Having set up Roku boxes, and streaming DVD/media players and network cameras for years, I figured Google would make the Chromecast a piece of cake. Not so. Very disappointed that our Samsung S-7 phones or Tab E, or our friend's iPhone can't "see" the Chromecast device on the same network/router much of the time, just 25 feet away or less. And depending upon what you are casting to the device, you may need to let that other computer or device remain tied up with the source page in order for the Chromecast to continue displaying what you tried to cast to it, so very disappointed ! Would return it if I could.

In this day and age, there is no reason for a streaming device to not communicate seamlessly with different hardware. Online help is limited and virtually useless. If I download app on Android, it works in Chromecast. If I download in IOS, the app works in iTunes. The two simply will not play nice together. Also, the app only works with mobile devices. Why not Windows or iOS? Can nobody conceive that it would be nice to stream from a desktop or laptop? Hopefully this will change, but after spending 2-3 hours I'm done for now.

My device continues to reboot now even 5 minutes into streaming. I contacted customer support which has me dissconnecting my wifi and restarting my phone which all of course did not help as the problem is with the chromecast itself I told the representative this but ignored this statement. The representative along with her supervisor was not able to help me and basically told me there was nothing they could do for me. The representative laughed at me when I became upset of course that they could not fix my issue and now I am stuck with no way of streaming and a defective device that is good for?

Well. It was working for 4 years (older model) and now it cannot connect after latest update. Looks like Google disabled it to force me to buy new one.

I bought this chromecast following advice from your computer expert. It will not work with Netflix, which is why I bought it. After combing the net for help I found many, many people have the same issue.

9 out of 10 attempts to cast results in an error message. I use Direct TV Now. When streaming normal programming, and I am able to get this thing to cast, it's alright. If I try to watch an on demand program the show is unwatchable due to constant buffering. I have no problems watching anything on my Apple TV on the same TV, so it's not my internet speed or TV.

I bought 2 chromecasts that worked for a while - then some days it says device missing, my workaround was to use my phone but then that couldn't find the devices. If been through all the help forums and I am sick of wasting my time trying everything on this junk

Do not buy this useless product. I purchased it last July/16 at a Bestbuy in New York and every time I wanted to use it to watch a film, it worked for a little while and then it lost the signal or it just disconnected. With frustration and resignation, I watched the movie on my laptop. Getting this device is a waste of time. It is not reliable at all. Try other devices out in the market.

I can't believe this is a device made by Google. Horrible! I spent HOURS on set up and trying to get a decent stream/cast from multiple apps and devices. Poor picture quality, constant buffering, poor experience trying to use a phone or tablet to stop and start streaming. This is the WORST purchase of an electronic device I have ever made. Returning it tomorrow.

Could not get the Chromecast throught the setup. After going through the final step, the final screen would say lost connection and my phone could no longer connect to the end device. A total time of 4 to 5 hours was spent reviewing router setting, resetting the Chromecast and resetting up. Had high hopes too.

Do *not* buy this product. It doesn't work at all. Although my smartphone recognized the Chromecast, it would not show anything on my TV. Yes, I tried multiple hdmi ports, and I verified those ports work with other devices. Maybe I received a faulty one, but I'm not going to trust a new unit. Stay away!

I gave Chromecast for my sister, she said she could not used it with her TV.

I really don't care if this thing works or not. Any piece of hardware that takes 13 hours to do a software update is a P.O.S. in my book. I should have done some more research on the update problem. It's all over the web.

I wouldn't recommend this product. Google Chrome never shows up my device in the cast list. It requires a reboot minimum of 10 times a day. I wish to give a 00000 rating

We are vacationing, he wanted to watch the preseason games... as soon as the game started, a message came up and the screen went blank... you can't cast the games on the screen. This was the only reason we bought it! LAME!
