This was a Christmas gift for my parents who aren't very tech savvy. I programed the device to connect to the WiFi in their home and added the app to their smart phones and showed them how to cast videos from Netflix. Well, the rest is history. Now I hear about a new movie they found every day during my visits. I'm even contemplating getting a device for my own home since I can't share theirs because they are ALWAYS using it! We are all very happy with the streaming potential and found that a closer proximity to our router gave a better, uninterrupted service.

The chromecast is am amazing device. It's easy to set up, easy to use and let's you cast anything in your phone or tablet to your tv over your WiFi.

The initial setup of the ChromeCast was a pain in the @$$ - especially if you have multiple devices. Once finished, I was very happy with the product, the picture quality is great and it's easy to navigate. The only problem I have is sometimes it can take a few minutes to connect or 'find' the device - which can be frustrating. That said, I would recommend this product.

Made an impulse purchase of chromecast and i am highly impressed with the ease of use and speed of streaming from apple , windows and android devices

I've always thought these things were neat, but had a smart (just barely) TV. Well my family has several regular HDTVs, so I figured id grab a few of them on the Black Friday Sale and one for myself so I was ready to answer any questions. So far these things work great, and after showing it off to my parents, my stepmom asked my dad how many he wants, knowing he was excited. In a mixed house of android and iOS users everyone is happy with how they work and feel they are way worth the $25. The only real bummer for iOS users is the lack of screen mirroring.

The new chromcast works just as great as the last version. Best answer for streaming Netflix and Hulu. I love using my phone as a remote for the tv.

bought two already to replace an existing chromecast and added another in master bedroom. Seems faster with less disconnects than the previous model.

This is a great dongle for only $35 dollars. It casts to your tv. And it operates on both the 2ghz and 5ghz networks for high speed video streaming.

Faster than original ChromeCast. Still limited by lack of dedicated control for what you're watching, which can be annoying. Content looks good and streaming is generally fairly easy to get moving.

We have these on all of our TVs. Easy to install. HBO go works easy with the chromecast. Some lagging which I believe is the cable providers issue.

I purchased this item for one reason and one reason alone: To be able to stream pictures from my recent vacation onto my tv. For use of the Chromecast for other things, such as streaming netflix, etc. I recommend reading another review. I use my PS3 to do those things and it does it well enough that I have no need to use the Chromecast for this. Setting up the device is pretty simple in and of itself. It's plug and play. Connecting to the Chromecast is a slightly different story. Connecting with my android phone was easy after downloading the app. My wife connected with her iphone also after downloading the app. However, trying to connect from my computer was not as straightforward. I downloaded the installer and executeable but was unable to connect. *shrugs* Moving on. I was able to cast to the Chromecast with my Google Photos App after updating to the latest version of the app (it won't work with an older version). From there, I could look at pictures by scrolling on my phone. I was able to set up a slideshow as well, but the slideshow was not very customizable. This is more to do with the google photos app than the Chromecast itself, but still, it is important to note that it's not as seamless as expected. Some things need to be improved on. Lastly, during the first day of use, I regularly lost connection with the Chromecast during the slideshow. Loading videos was slow and choppy. It was really hard to get smooth playback for videos of any length longer than 10 seconds. I had thought that the new Chromecast would be faster and better than this. Given the issues with this so far, I can't say that I would recommend this. Perhaps after some tinkering around I will update this review, but it certainly isn't as seamless or as easy as I would have expected.

This chromecast is awesome!!! I get to watch movies and shows on my tv!!! The picture is perfect and the device is easy to use. Great investment

For price of $30, its hard not to buy this. Compare to Apple TV which costs 4x more. This is very useful product for watching youtube, Travel Channel, HBO and others on larger and older LCD/LED displays. Google casting (like mirror casting) its pretty easy to use. It takes minimal effort to setup and it always stays on with beautiful screen savers

Well worth the upgrade. Fast and snappy and great picture quality. Now I can watch Youtube videos on my TV queued up by my laptop.

Chromecast is a great little hardware for streaming videos from your tablet, laptop or phone. Easy to setup but does require a good wifi network.

Works great. Easy configuration and it's ready to cast Netflix to TV. I got also app for my iPhone to cast pictures to TV screen.

Works perfectly with my HDMI enabled projector, plugs right into the wall. Setup was a breeze and my android smartphone is now a movie theater!

Cheap, works well most of the time, has some neat features, but at the end of the day it's got no remote or interface of its own; it's entirely dependent on your phone or tablet to operate. It sounded ok in principle, but in practice it's kindof annoying, and occasionally flaky, since it's dependent on a weird daisy-chain of apps/devices/connections to work. I ended up getting one of those new rokus later, and use it far more often, so far without the slightest hiccup. There's a handful of things the chromecast can do that it can't, so I find value in both, but overall the Roku is the better product, for not too much more money.

This is my second Chromecast. Nothing wrong with the first one, just like to update. Very easy set up. Works perfectly. Love it.
