Great Device - Early Setup Issues
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I also have the original chromecast. Got this one for the 5Ghz network support. The firmware had problems seeing the 5Ghz network and I finally got in touch with Google support and we figured it out after about 30 minutes trying. I feel quite certain that they have updated the firmware by now (I purchased about 3 months ago) and this probably works fine. Other than that, it works great and does everything I want it to do.

Really like for the price!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased it when it was on sale, and I loved it. Great when I watch YouTube, Netflix, listen to Pandora & love that I can easily connect with my smartphone. Also love that I can mirror my screen without a hassle. I only had to reset it once since I purchased it in 2015, but it was fast and quick. Great product.

Good product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this so i can stream my phone laptop and other devices on my Insignia TV. Install and set was easy and quick. Everything function the way it should the only downside is that the quality it transmit isn't fully HD. Watching YouTube or another video set at 1080p or 720p looks more like 480 even 360 at times. I would still recommend this as it it very useful but hopefully they can improve the quality of streaming.

Limited but great so far
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Needs a source device to start streaming, but once it's going it just works. You can turn of the source and the stream continues. It even turns the tv on ( not sure if that's standard or limited to tvs with the option to link device control through hdmi). If another smart device dies we would consider replacing with another Chromecast.

New Google Chromecast
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this second Chromecast as it was a better fit for my one TV what has a narrow HDMI port, which my first Chromecast had a hard time fitting into when other things were plugged in. Compared to other devices, it is inexpensive and efficient for what I need.

It's excellent for us.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It creates a nice ecosystem in our household with only a $25 investment. Between our android phones, chromebook, and windows desktop, we can all throw whatever we want onto the TV to share with each other and no need to fiddle much with clunky smart TV UI (yes, I did buy this despite already having a capable Samsung smart TV). Netflix? You got it. Your phone's a remote too! Youtube? You can all take turns finding and playing your own videos. Streaming video straight from my desktop to the TV, something surprisingly difficult to do, no problem, just share the chrome page and fiddle with the audio a bit to get it working right. Such a great buy for $25, works flawlessly in a home with lots of google/android devices already.

Great for mirroring your apps when traveling.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Gave this chrome cast to my boyfriend as a gift and we use it for all our HBO to go and starz aps to watch movies. It works great. We mirror from stuff on the laptop to things on my iPad. Most of the iPad aps did not need any extensions. I loved it so much that we are getting another one. I would recommend this devise. Very easy to use.

We love it!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought the Chromecast and immediately came home and hooked it up. It was super easy to set up and we had instant access with all of our devices. Right now we are switching it back and forth between the bedroom and the living room though we plan to buy another soon so we don't have to. Bought one for my parents and they love it too.

Cheap way to watch YouTube on the big screen
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The chrome cast is the best way to watch YouTube on a non-smart tv. Simply being a video up on your tablet or phone and hit the cast button on the screen to send the video to your TV. No more straining your eyes. No more low volume. It works with a few other websites/video sites but YouTube is the best. I find myself watching a lot more videos online than I ever thought possible. It's not television, but it is entertaining if you try. YouTube has the videos sorted so well that if you enjoy news, sports highlights, or trending stuff that lots of other people are seeing and will be talking about. I can finally see myself ditching cable completely with a combination of free local TV, a DVR, and a good streaming player.

Works Great -- Clear picture
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use this to cast my Surface (through Google Chrome browser) and my Table (through the App) on my TV. Seamless transitions, and shows up very clear on TV. Very happy with purchase. Easy set-up.

Great Smart TV Solution for My Family
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This isn't the game changer that I thought it would be, but that's because I've attached it to an already smart TV. That said, installation was easy and nice to be able to stream anything in my Chrome browser to the TV, YouTube, etc, right from the phone. I played a Google Play movie rental and it worked well - was able to control the movie from the phone but still use the phone as needed. I don't like the idea of having a smart TV accessible to my young children - don't want them on YouTube, web browser, etc. I bought a harmony smart remote to control the TV - it doesn't give the kids access to the smart TV functions (could have done that with the cable box remote, too) - and can now use smart TV through my phone via Chromecast. So no worries about them accessing content I don't want them to. True, they also can't access PBS Kids and other appropriate web/app content on their own, but that's an easy trade off for me. Love the background option it has - it can run a slideshow of selected Google Photos folders plus other really beautiful images curated from the web, NASA, etc. I docked this one star because it seems to operate only on the 2.4 ghz router band rather than the faster 5ghz band. I'd prefer it to run on the faster band and would try to set it up that way, but my cheap Android tablet doesn't have 5gz, nor does my laptop. So if I want to control the Chromecast from those it appears that I must keep it on the slower 2.4 ghz band. Again, fine, but wish it worked with both. Maybe it's my own installation issue.
