Best streamer I have used

I have used a Roku streaming stick, an Amazon Fire TV stick, and a Fire TV box, and this is my favorite of them all. The simplicity is what sells it for me. It's not only very easy to use (it works with apps on your phone), but it is also faster (or at least as fast) as any other streamer on the market. Considering that it's only $35, and there's no competition. This is the best you're gonna find.

Great product!
This is the perfect product if you do not want to pay for cable tv. All you need is some sort of subscription to things such as Netflix, Hulu, or DirecTV.
All you got to do is turn your TV on, open the app and select the cast button. Currently Chromecast casts from your phone or iPad if you have Netflix, Hulu, etc. downloaded.

Google chromecast is the cheapest option available in streaming sticks domain. Great for streaming content. The only drawback is that you don't have a remote. You need to stream from your phone. Easy to set up. Google gives nice offers from time to time to chromecast users. Don't miss to check them out. Overall good product for the price of $35.

I don't have the right words to explain how simple and complex this device is. It handles any net streaming service you want and maybe a few you don't want. It is small and simple to install, plug it in and forget it. The price is awesome. I never dreamed it would be this good and do the service I bought it for. It works exactly the way is says. It is a awesome device.

I have used hdmi streaming devices before and this one blows them out the water. No range issues, no lagging, and no connectivity problems either. Not only can i use Netflix, Amazon, YouTube, etc. on my non-wifi tvs, I can stream pictures, videos, and games from my phone, laptop, or home PC with ease. Best thing too is I've never run into any video format issues (mp4, avi, mkv, etc.). You can name the device and stream content from anywhere within the house on your wifi network. Easy to relocate to another room...but so cheap I bought 3 more just so I don't have to. My PS4s do some of the functionality this little device can do, but the chromecast is faster and tackles what the PS4s dont. I was worried about using my phone for the remote, but after using it...those worries were a lost cause. For example, if you use your phone to stream Netflix to it, it can control sound, pause, ff, etc... but if you want...you can close the netflix app out and/or open Facebook without disturbing what is playing. Even if you end the Netflix process on your phone. Super easy setup... I definitely recommend this product...one for every tv!

I debated between the Chromecast and the Amazon Fire TV Stick. I finally decided on the Chromecast, and I love it! Great performance, easy to use and a snap to configure; I had it setup, configured and was casting within 5 minutes, but would have been faster if the firmware didn't need to update once powered up.

Extremely easy to setup. works with many apps for mobile and with laptops. I can project to my TV in seconds and the quality is excellent. For the money you can't go wrong. It does not store any apps in it self but who cares? Who does not have at least an android device or a laptop? That's all you need to use it

Very easy to set up and use. Great for cord cutters. Inexpensive way to watch cast content from computer whether through a streaming service or content saved to computer. Can cast chrome browser as well as watch locally stored movies through chrome without setting up a media server.

Pros: It has good speed and processor. Some apps connect quickly some does not. Good price. Very compact and easy st up.
Cons: Limitation on usage compared to Roku 3. Roku has most of the features but higher price.
I still prefer Roku 3 for my usage compared to chromecast

Sure newer tv's are all the rage right now. Oled and the newer full array 4k tv's, come with smart tv options. But if you bought a tv before smart tv became a standard. Do yourself a favor and buy yourself a chromecast. It literally is like having a giant smart phone. My older tv is know a smart tv. And I can hold off on buying a tv for a little longer. Now I can watch Netflix, hbo go, and etc. On my 55 in tv. Also if you pair it with a Google home product, it becomes a hands free tv. You can turn it on or off. And tell it to open Netflix or other apps on chromecast. If your on the fence about buying the a new tv, and just do yourself a favor and buy a chromecast. Trust me people are amazed when tell the Google home turn on tv. And then tell it to "play Netflix series narcos on tv". And boom the tv does it. People's always drop. Just buy it.

I'm a huge fan of the chromecast and have given a few of them as gifts as well. The setup is usually easy but I've had some minor issues setting up on another network outside of the home. It's a great device for streaming all sorts of apps and is very easy to use.

This was an excellent choice for me. The setup was easy and getting the unit to work with my Samsung Tablet was just as easy. I like the idea of using the TV screen for my viewing with the Chromecast. I also like the fact that I can pull from my video accounts like Netflix and use those as well. One neat feature is the screensaver. By leaving the Chromecast on display, google-plus shows photos shared from the internet, most are fabulous choices by google....a little music behind this display would make it perfect for white noise and distraction!

I'm very pleased with this device it was easy to put on the TV in my bedroom. It's not the smart TV I recently purchased but I can stream movies and pics and other things. Not bad for $30 bucks I'm going to buy 2 more for my other Tv's.

Affordable device with surprising utility

Before I get started, this will not replace a Roku, Amazon Stick, or any other full featured streaming device. Nor is it meant to. It will, however, provide a surprising amount of function and utility if you use it as a complementary device. I plugged it into my surround sound system via HDMI, and from here I can: stream music from my phone (effectively turning my system into a wireless speaker system better than any bluetooth speaker), stream content from my laptop and chrome book (replacing the need for a HDMI cable and adaptpr), view pictures and video from my phone or tablet (both from my private library and any number of streaming services).
Again, this won't replace say a Roku. Lack of a dedicated remote control and native apps, as well as the required "casting device" keep it out of the realm of "similar" devices. However, it's hard to argue with the cost ($35 - I picked mine up for $30) and the value it provides. Just know what you're getting in to!

My son received the older chrome cast for a bday gift. Little did I know at the time how it would be the main source of TV entertainment in our home. We stream netflix daily, also episodes available from broadcast websites, Youtube videos, all through ipad/iphone. Also able to stream amazon prime videos and purchased movies (although amazon make it less seamless b/c they want you to buy their version, but through google chrome browser you can by using the cast app) I can even stream pandora for music, this is one awesome little gadget for short money. I just bought a second one for upstairs tv so we dont need to swap from tv to tv (although no trouble doing so) and to try the updated version. Both work great seamless streaming, super easy setup and simple to link with ipad or computer

Yes. This Chromecast is great! The first version was so-so and not well supported. I tried to get it to do more than just (sometimes) cast a tab out of Chrome. I took it back after a few days.
Fast forward to Version 2. I bought this a day or two after it was released. I thought I would give it one more try given the hype. Well, I was floored. I absolutely love it. Many of my phone apps cast to it, I've also put a Plex server on my network and it interfaces very well. The Chromecast went from 1 to 5 starts for me in this version.
I use in the following scenarios:
Cast from a media server, cast from my phone, cast from Chrome, cast from devotional apps and cast from TV networks' websites. There isn't much you can't cast with this one. Easy install. Quick setup. One very happy user here.

After ready various reviews online about the new Chromecast I decided to give it a try. At first I was underwhelmed. I had issues with setting it up with my Moto g (3). After reading troubleshooting turns out that the Moto g automatically tries switching to the best wifi. Once I installed the app on my iPad it was as simple as they say to set up. Then I tried using it and wasn't impressed with the number of apps that could actually connect to the thing. All I wanted to do was to cast my phone screen to the TV. Long story short I figured out that the Moto G (3) actually has that capability to do what I want. It was just a matter of figuring it out. Without that feature on my phone I would have probably returned it. With it I think it works great. Only other issue is that as I was casting Utube my phone kept going to sleep which was very annoying. This was a matter of changing the settings. Overall with these device specific caveats I would strongly recommend.

I don't really know what I can add to the numerous reviews. I got two because--what do you know--my first generation chromecast died. When a computer the size of your thumb dies, there is not much fixing. So I got the two-fer deal and put one at my parents'.
[Excuse my over the top title, couldn't resist the rhyme.] We do use it daily. I watch nightly business report from youtube whenever I'm ready, and we watch shows available from sites like cbs, pbs, abc... using their apps and cast them to the TV. My son casts DOTA commentaries and occasional movies. It does not work well with Amazon because...Amazon doesn't want it to! Netflix is fine, etc. We don't really use it for music. We have used it for VIMEO also....
