Nice addition to an older TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Put this in a 'Hobby Room' that we use sparingly but didn't have the ability to stream content. Not as quick as ROKU which just requires you to turn on the TV, but since you cast from your phone, makes searching for content quicker than using the on-screen ROKU keyboard. Pleased with the purchase for the use that it gets; if we were to use this more though, we'd probably have opted for ROKU with voice remote or Fire TV w/ Alexa.

Does what it claims

Bad: Does not "do" anything itself. The remote (and initial connection) is your phone/Chrome browser. The Chromecast has it's place. It is not intended to do what something like a Roku does, so it's unfair to directly compare. That said, Roku has installable apps, and will soon have screen mirroring, according to their site.

If the app/site you're using supports streaming to a Chromecast, it's as simple as tapping in the cast icon and selecting the Chromecast you want to stream to. That's it. It's a great little device that has only gotten better with the newest release. The antenna is much stronger and there's seems to be a noticeable speed increase during boot up. Highly recommended device.
