These are so very very good when you learn to use them with your google Assistant devices. Don’t have an Assistant, you can use your phone or your computer then. Very versitle and very reliable. When mine are showing me the content from google speaker or streaming something for me to see I leave the Monitors running to display slide shows from my personal photos. It’s will als display all Types of news, sports, recipes, professional beautiful photos and so much more. See my other review to see how I use them with my Google speaker. Pair one of these up to a google speaker and you have a tool that is much better than that Alexa video device.

We bought this when it was on sale and for the price it was worth it. We currently have a smart tv, but this makes it easier to browse apps such as CW or other prime time channels that it doesn't offer on it. The only downside with this version compared to the previous one is the odd times it will lose connection to the phone in the middle of programming. If we need to pause or rewind during a movie or show from app it'll often end up requiring us to completely restart the app or reset the connection.. When not used at home it is an incredibly easy way to watch movies or shows when traveling and staying at a hotel. As it packs comfortably in my suitcase or backpack. As every hotel has a hd tv it is a simple matter of connecting it to the wifi on my phone and popping it onto a free hdmi port on the back.

This product does exactly what it is advertised to do. It is VERY easy to set up and get operational. If you are cutting the cable, this is something you really should try. Of course when you get something that is nice, you think of ways to improve it. It would be sweet to be able to project any window or the entire desktop if on a PC to the TV but Windows ans Apple will probably never let others in. I have tried the Google Chromecast from my family room TV using an iPhone, Windows 10 PC and MAC. All work the same way and equally enjoyed. I will be getting 2 more for other areas in the house. I defiantly recommend this item.

This chromecast version works better than the previous one and in general chromecasts are the easiest, cheapest dependable way to stream. No fuss, solid Android product!

This device is easy to use and does not take up much room. The picture and sound quality are great. I also like that you can use it with your Spotify account.

When I heard about the Chromecast, I thought it was too good to be true. When I bought it, I actually confirmed how wonderful it really is. I cut the cable with TWC two years ago and had initially relied primarily on the net for entertainment. It was tough at first, but I refuse to pay the huge cable bills for b grade content. Slowly the media houses caught on; first Netflix, then Amazon Prime, now HBO Now, all offer prime content (as opposed to B or C grade content) on stream. If you use a mix of subscription services like me, you can still get the best of what's available, concurrently, and yet keep your monthly TV/entertainment bill to less than $50 a month, as opposed to paying double or triple that for lousy cable TV content, not to mention the creeping bill hikes that cable tv regularly forces on you. Chromecast allows you to mirror screens wirelessly, directly from your smartphone or laptop/pc/tablet to the TV. Pretty much anything you can find on the net, can be cast to your TV and streamed with no loss of definition or audio quality. Channels like CNBC, CBS etc who stream news live will enable you to grab the news without cable, the chief concern of people who are wary about cutting ties with cable. HBO, Netflix and Amazon Prime have great streaming content (Game of Thrones, for one). Admittedly, both Netflix and Amazon have a bunch of rubbish thrown in for good measure, but you still find good stuff. Plus, there's HULU, VUDU (paid) and a bunch of prime regional and international films freely available on YouTube. The best about streaming is that you are not paying cable bills. Second best feature, you set the schedule, not the cable company. Once released, the program usually is available to watch whenever you want, as many times you want, you will never miss a show again. Cons? It needs a remote with simple FFWD and RWD, Pause/play functions. When you stream HBO Now from the laptop/PC you cannot FFWD or RWD as the screen freezes in the particular tab you run it on. Works a little better from the smartphone app, but you need to have super sensitive finger tips to do it accurately. Minor annoyance. Other than that, it rocks. And by the way, I have nothing but commiseration for those TV channels like AMC who stream, but still need you to to have a cable subscription to view their content!??? Guys, if I had any need for cable, why on earth would I need the stream?? Think!! They choose to go down with the cable ship I guess. Coming back to Chromecast, buy it. I am pretty certain you would love it as much as I do.

The Google Chromecast is a great streaming device. Setup is extremely easy. You simply connect it to your tv with the included HDMI cable and then plug it into a power outlet. Once it is on, you will turn on the tv and then actually use your phone to setup the Wifi network that it is connected to. Once that is done, you are ready to go. You simply take a device, such as a phone, tablet, or even a computer and you can easily start to stream to your tv. And the multitude of apps that can stream to it is quite nice. The layout change on your phone or tablet while streaming is nice too.

I like the Google Chromecast integration with Google Home and I like being able to control things with my phone, but sometimes I need a remote. Don't get me wrong the Chromecast works well and seemless, and while most people always have their phones with them, I do prefer to use a remote. I just use Chromecasts because I'm invested in the Google ecosystem and Google Home. At the end of the day, if you use Google Services, this is the best (I think only real) option. But if you have no major investment in any other ecosystem, I would give pause to the no remote thing. It's a fundamental change in how we watch TV; easy to get past, but a minor annoyance nonetheless.

So, I bought this so that I can watch movies from my phone...it took a while for "Google Home" to get its act right, but I am finally able to do so. I have two non-4K TVs, so these models are perfect! I bought two and setup was easy enough. I have to "Mirror" my phone to watch local contact. Mirroring you can't use your phone for anything else. However, when you "Cast", you can use your phone in the background while the app is "Casting." We no longer hook up our phones to a HDMI/MHL cable to view content on our phone. Highly recommend.

This is a great product for casting from phone to TV. Use it down in our basement on our standard (non smart) samsung TV. This is the cheaper option because it doesn't do Hi-def however I think the picture works just fine for what I need/use it for. Set up is very easy and getting it to cast to TV is also very easy. Very happy with this product.

A very affordable streaming device with a growing number of supporting apps is what makes Chromecast attractive. Setting it up was quick and easy. The Chromecast app lets me configure the screensaver content and leaving it ON even when not streaming starts up this wonderful presentation of photographs which can be configured or linked to personal social media. Super easy set-up. App added to phones and tablet. Mainly use it for Netflix, but is also great for watching YouTube and ESPN on the big screen.

The price is right! Can be used with a SmartTV or a non-SmartTV. Very portable. Great for multiple TV users or on the go. You do not have to buy 2,3,4+ Chromecasts. You just need one HDMI port IN on your TV. If you have a USB power source on your TV, great! Otherwise, this can get powered through AC. Best feature by far is the "Share My Screen". Can be used with your device to show whatever is on your screen. Not just apps that integrate with Chromecast. Easy setup, but the only thing I found annoying was I had to reboot everything (internet and TV) during setup to get all my Chromecast features to work which was not part of the directions, but is on TECH Support. I would recommend toggling every power source after setup to use as a precaution.

This is definitely my main product for all streaming through both Apple and Android devices in our home. With the amount of apps that now allow streaming, this is definitely a low cost option that I would recommend for anyone. Taking one star away only for the below Con. Con: For those who have the older Chromecast version it does not make much sense to get this, as its not very different, though its indeed a little faster and hasnt been stuck even once since I got it. The older version would occasionally get stuck buffering for a few seconds while watching something (could be due to quick drops in the internet, but the new one seems to handle such better).

I bought this to turn my 'dumb' Samsung plasma into a smart tv. Being a sports fan, i'm unwilling to give up the superiority of plasma for inferior LED and it's motion problems just for the sake of having a Smart tv. I considered the others, Roku, Amazon stick, etc, but went with the Chromecast in the end. Setup is easy; just plug it into an HDMI port (mine runs through my receiver, but you can plug it directly into the tv), download the Google Home app to your phone, point it at the home wifi, and you're done. In the end this is the easiest to use; no channel searching, fumbling with an extra remote, what-have-you. Just play a compatible app and stream it to the TV. I'll open youtube, do a quick search, and stream a kids video for the baby much quicker than with the other Smart tv in the house. Apps like Popcorntime, Bobby Movie, and VLC are also compatible, which is great. In essence, your phone replaces the remote, which is much more convenient for finding or pulling up and playing content quickly. Streams are perfect and in amazing HD quality. No complaints. Definitely worth the $. In fact, I bought a second one for travel.

The price is the best part here. I bought a first gen Chromecast and I used that for several years. The new one is a lot faster, not just in terms of streaming, but also in responsiveness. It takes a lot less time for apps to open on this in comparison to the first gen. Another important thing to note is that you can use any platform to control Youtube though this device. Anyone can control and add with the YouTube app and Chromecast app installed either on their browser, or smartphone or tablet, be it Android, Windows or iOS.

I bought the Chromecast because I wanted to have easier access to streaming movies and music through my entertainment center (via my television). I also purchased Google Home mini. Side note: The two of those work really well together, by the way. I would highly recommend the Chromecast to anyone who is looking for an easy and cheap solution to streaming music and video through their television/entertainment system. I bought mine for $20 through black Friday deals. $20 well spent.
