    Simple & Great Cord Cutter

The new 2015 Google Chromecast is simple to use. You just plug the HDMI end into your TV, plug the other end into a power source, connect to your Wi-Fi network, and you are good to go. If you use Netflix, Google Play, Hulu, or any other compatible streaming application--it is a great way to cut the cord and save money. They add new compatible applications all the time. Casting is done without plugging anything into your mobile device or computer, unless you want to charge your device while using the Chromecast.

    Not for college campuses

I work on a college campus doing IT. A student put in a HelpDesk ticket requesting help with her chromecast. When I got it working and set up with her TV, to test that it was working, I had to discover devices in my YouTube app on my phone. I had to repeat the discovery probably 10 times before I found the right one. Our campus is just riddled with Rokus and FireSticks and Apple TVs and Chromecasts. After I found it tho, it worked wonderfully. The one I have at home is great for casting from my phone.

I bought this item to stream Netflix movies from my droid turbo mobile phone to my TV (not a smart TV obviously). I used the Chromecast app to set up the device and it was simple. It does require the phone and TV to be on the same Wi-Fi for it to connect. HD movies look great. Best part, once the movie loads on the TV, you can disable Wi-Fi to the phone and it will continue to play. Bottom line, you can go outside, or leave the house with the phone, and the movie continues to play on the TV.

Awesome for College Kids with Netflix and HULU

I have both netflix and HULU but really didn't have a way to watch them on my tv at school without buying something expensive.. This was the ticket I can control the Chromecast with my phone, no need to get up, and I can watch all of my favorite shows and Movies. Works with my Disney anyware account too so if you have kids definitely a good by for a play room if you don't have a phone that works you can also control it with any laptop or tablet too with one short download. Great Buy

Pros: Works well, seems a little faster than the old version. I like the new HDMI short extension built in, fits better on my TV, had to cut away plastic for the other style. Casting Angry Birds Friends is a hoot. Turns the TV on automatically when I cast. Shows nice photos when I turn on the TV, much better than looking at "no signal" till I launch something. Cons: None really, just have to hook up the power chord thing. Setup can be a little confusing for non tech folks.

I already have 2 Amazon Fire Sticks on my TV's, but since I have 2 Google Home speakers and an Android phone, I decided to give the Google Chromecast a try. It was very easy to set up and integrate with Google Home and my phone. It is easy to operate and performs as stated in the product description. However, I am giving it 4 stars because unlike the Fire Stick, it depends on another device such as your phone tablet or pc, to cast programming to the tv. I find it much more convenient to have the programming built-in and have a dedicated remote.

A very cheap device you can use to stream Netflix, Youtube, Pandora, and thousands of other apps and game to your TV using your Android, iPhone, tablet or computer. Its small size hides conveniently behind your TV and you can take with you when traveling. The old version didn't have it but this one adds compatibility with 5Ghz Wifi networks. Very satisfied with the product.

I have been researching this product for sometime. I finally decided to purchase it on Black Friday. I can't believe that I waited so long. I am now able to stream my cell phone to my T.V. No more watching my favorite YouTube videos on my 5.5 inch cell phone screen. I can view everything on my 50 inch flat scree. The setup was extremely easy. I did not have any issues at all. I would definitely recommend this product to everyone.

Bought this is a Christmas present, she subscribed to Netflix and it has been on her iPad every day since. We have been paying $200 per month for premium cable channels, with this connected to our LG 60 inch HDMI TV, we are finding more excellent quality movies on Netflix for $9.95 per month... Bye-bye cable. I absolutely recommend it, buy it. You will love it. We have been able to link it to an iPad a Samsung Tablet and 2 phones, turn it on and it works.

We had Amazon Fire for awhile and it was slow and lagging. Streaming shows would often pause and stop without warning. We've been using Chromecast exclusively for the past couple of years - rarely have trouble streaming (usually it's Netflix that logs us out but not Chromecast). We stream our favorite photos when we're not watching TV. Love being able to cast from phone or computer to TV seamlessly. Highly recommend.

So far so good! I've always had a chromecast to stream youtube and to rent movies on the playstore and when I got a new tv I decided to get a new chromecast. This one is very nice, works faster even with my Galaxy S5! The picture is great and it quickly connects to the internet, I don't use hulu or netflix but I have in the past so I cannot comment on how those stream. This is a good streaming device for mobile to tv!

I bought this Chromecast for my LG tv and it works great. I own the original Chromecast stick and it's currently in use in our living room tv, while this one is in my room. They both work well, though I find that beaming to this one is easier in terms of lagging, which I've noticed is only ever present during HBO Now's "previously on..." flashbacks before the start of a show. At any rate, it's a great product if you're in the market.

What continuously surprises me about today's technology isn't its capabilities, but the ease with which it makes those capabilities accessible to the masses. The Chromecast is an excellent example of this. You plug it in, you download the app on your phone, it walks you through a series of very clear, simple, easy-to-understand instructions, and before you know it, you're good to go! It works very well, it keeps itself updated automatically, etc... The only time we ever had issues with ours was when our obsession with converting our house to a Smart Home led to too many WiFi-enabled smart devices overwhelming our older router. Once I upgraded our home to a more modern router setup (a Linksys Velop mesh system), our occasional Casting issues vanished. If I have any complaint, it's that normally when you're casting stuff, anyone whose device is in the house can see and (if you've allowed it) control the playback. However, in our experience, they still need to improve that system a bit because our phones don't always reliably display that information in the Notification Bar. So every so often if it disappears from both of our phones, it's a bit of a PITA to stop something that is being casted. This is a minor foible, though, and it seems to be occurring much less frequently than it used to, so they've definitely greatly improved it. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone. We have THREE. One for the bedroom, one for the living room (an Ultra) and one for the kitchen.

    Great streaming stick

I've had the Apple TV (overpriced and limited in functionality), Roku (good stick, but not the best for hacking), and a couple of Amazon Fire Sticks, which are fantastic for modding and getting extra content or even installing RetroPie on. Overall, however, I'd have to say the Google Chromecast is the best overall streamer. It's easy to take with you, set up in a new location (hotel, friends house, etc.), and streaming from my iPhone is super easy, convenient, with amazing quality. I stream movies, music via Pandora or Spotify, YouTube, personal videos, etc.... Using my phone to find and stream content is sooo much easier than the remotes that come with the competition. With the Chromecast, moving from app to app, or within menus and searches is done in a fraction of the time it takes with the others. Well worth the investment...especially around the holidays.

Why would anyone ever bother paying for cable again? All you need is an antenna to pick up local channels/networks so that you don't miss the news and what not. Not to mention you'd have access to prime time shows, though you wouldn't be able to record them for later. That one-time purchase combined with the one-time purchase of a Google ChromeCast, and your on your way to eliminating your cable bill. ChromeCast is compatible with many monthly TV/movie subscription services (i.e. Hulu, Netflix), which only cost around $8/mo and you get access to almost any show you'd want to see, both old and new. The ChromeCast does connect to your PC, tablet, and phone, via a WiFi connection, and the device you're streaming content from must be connected to that WiFi and ChromeCast to work. So keep your internet service with your provider for sure, and after you decide for yourself, you too will want to cancel your cable service that has been draining your wallet for years. Hope you like it as much as I do!

I have been using the original chrome cast since it first came out and have loved it's ease of use. Switching to the new version is seamless and the video quality has improved noticeably since it now takes advantage of the higher speed channel on my wifi router. The new design is a little sleeker than the old one and fits into the tight space where the HDMI input is on my TV. Over excellent device that makes streaming HD content easy!

Plug in an HDMI cable and a power cable and you can quickly and easily cast any Chromecast enabled program right to your HDTV. Picture quality and speed are outstanding. Cheap enough to install on every TV in the house. Equally outstanding is the Chromecast Audio device which enables high quality audio to be transferred from your smartphone directly to the input jack of any powered speaker or stereo system. Highly recommended,

Easily the best bang for your buck for turning your TV into a smart TV. Bought it for my sixty year old mother and she loves it. Of course you need another device (smart phone, laptop, tablet) to stream the content to your TV, but most people have something that is compatible. Easy setup, just plug it into your HDMI port on you TV, connect the Chromecast to your smart phone or other device, and you are ready to stream!
