Chromecast was said to just need a "wifi" signal either 2.4 or 5 GHz band. Chromecast is misleading consumers because it doesn't "cast" with just a wifi signal...it also requires internet service to cast to monitor or TV after the device completes an "update" to make the device work, then an app is required to be downloaded to each device you wish to cast from. Then the device freeze frames or locks up and requires to be unplugged to reboot the device. Netflix can be casted, and doesn't require internet service for movies that were downloaded to a device. So long as internet service was connected and Chromecast and the casting device were connected to the same internet service it casted for 32 minutes. At that moment internet service was terminated the Chromecast froze. Not recommended for people who use wifi at home without internet service.

As long as your phone has an HDMI port, you can turn your TV into a smart tv. Combined with the Google home app, you can cast YouTube, Netflix, Amazon video, etc right off your phone. Amazing functionality for the price. Definitely recommend.

We use these products in the office I work at to mirror users laptop screens onto very large LED TV's. This product is amazing and effective, plus the image is stunning. I do use one for personal use and have eliminated the use of a cable box. Nice work Google!

This is a great product, I am definitely happy that i got this item. I have the Google Home Assistant so this Chromecast ties everything together. not all the devices are connected to the Google Home. It is a great item if you are trying to automate your house

This device functions as advertised. We use it to turn our TV into a mirror of the computer monitor and it does that well. Speed is limited by the computer it is used with and our connection to the internet, which is not always satisfactory for streaming videos. That is not a problem of the device itself.

I like all my hook-ups easy. When I swiped right on this baby, I was like "oh yes". I am going to make you mine. Once my Chromecast arrived I plugged it in and received a satisfying signal. All is well until my next hyper-fixation arrives from Best Buy.

I am using from an Apple MacMini computer. When using Chrome as a browser, the Chromecast works well. However, it seems impossible to cast a DVD played with the Mac application. I tried using Full Screen Slideshow to show pictures on my TV with Chromecast but could not get it to work effectively with more than a just a few pictures.

I got the as a Christmas gift. I have an older TV in a room and it does not have built in WIFI. Downloaded the Goohle Home App and plugged itue Chromecast in. It downloaded a SW update then rebooted. Afterward did a cast from HBO GO. Ran smoothly with no issues.

I was not sure about the Chromecast when I bought it but was surprised by the ease of installation and versatility of options to view programs from my phone put on the big screen. I was only disappointed by the fact that I still had to have a carrier (Dish, DirectTV or cable provider to get many of the TV channels...bummer).

good option for less price to stream from phone or laptop

I bought this with a google home which I intend to grow with. It is an awesome piece of tech. I can voice control my tv now...no more searching for the remote in the couch. Also, love That I can share a video from my phone to the TV to share.

Excellent for app streaming, it doesn’t work for web streaming on Apple devices.

We have the older model chromecast on our other wall-mounted tv. Because the HDMI is part of the product itself, it's been awkward trying to get it to fit behind the tv without making it stick out from the wall. With the flexible HDMI adapter it's no longer an issue.
