I bought this for my kid at school. Works very well for what it will be used for. I think some of the competition out there offers more in way of available apps thereby providing a better selection of viewing.

that Chromecast doesn't work with public / hotel wi-fi systems. Since I am a road warrior being able to stream to hotel TV like I can at home would be convenient.

We're cordcutters, so streaming is the way we enjoy all our TV entertainment. We use it literally every day. We ended up getting an additional one for the other room. Best of all, works with all operating systems; Android, iOS, PC, Mac, etc.. Not tied down like Apple products. Get it, you won't be disappointed.

Installation was easy but trying to run netflix I encountered problem with load freezing and then dropping connection. Later found out this is a known problem (for about 2 years) and hasn't been fixed yet.

This was a test purchase to see if Google could make a Roku like device for a reasonable price. It turns out that you need more than a TV with HDMI to get anything to play. Once you set it up, you are presented with a dummy screen saver. There is nothing you can do at this point to change the screen. The next bit is a little tricky. You have to download a software program onto your computer that automatically installs Google Chrome browser. Then it has to install a plugin that gives you Chromecast extensions onto the websites for YouTube and Netflix. Then you must login to those websites and be sure to select the Chromecast icon in the video that you want to play. That forces the video that you would normally see on your computer screen to be "cast" to the Chromecast device. So you get a picture on the TV that is essentially coming from your computer or smart phone. That means that the Chromecast is a slave device working off of your computer server. The computer or smart device is serving the video to the slave device. Chromecast appears to not have any significant intelligence. Your computer is doing most of the work. The smart phone app appears to add the Chromecast icon onto the Netflix app. So your phone needs Netflix, YouTube and Chromecast apps installed for it to work. Your computer needs Chromecast, Chrome browser and Chromecast extensions for it to work. I still prefer the Roku better since it can work autonomously without a computer.

We bought this because it appeared to be the most cost-effective way to watch netflix etc on the television without actually upgrading the television to a smart tv...and, it is! We love it. Just follow the directions and voila! It runs super easy from my tablet and smart phone. It cooperates easily with Youtube as well! Love it!

This is a great device to display YouTube videos and pictures from your phone/tablet to your TV. The quality is not as great as it looks on my phone, but makes it easier to share with the family on TV. I haven't tried other features much. Setup was pretty easy.

Chromecast was relatively easy to use and install provided your WiFi is good.The streaming was as good and clear as the original picture.

This Google Chromecast is a great deal to buy because you can watch your favorite videos on your TV with Wi-Fi casting from your IPad, Tablet, Smartphone or Computer, specially when you don't have Cable at Home. This is plus item to have!!

Got,it for 29.99 online here with 20 Google play credit, which cut the cost down to $10. don't buy anywhere else. I got one fROM Walmart., but it didn't come with the credit, ended up returning it.

The Google Chromecast HDMI Streaming Media player is an outstanding device to use for online movies (Netflix); the quality of the picture is clear and player is easy to use and best of all NO remote!

For the price, I figured I couldn't go wrong giving it a shot. I am working out of the country and got a Slingbox to be able to watch TV back home. I was tired of watching it on the computer and seeing a TV going unused so figured I would give it a shot. It only works supposedly by watching Slingbox through the Facebook app. I got it to work but the buffering is ridiculous and unbearable. I think it is because both the Slingbox and the chromecast are sucking bandwidth at the same time. Aside from this, the chromecast is great for watching Netflix or YouTube from both a phone and tablet. Watching from a laptop DOES work but is a bit awkward and requires using Google Chrome browser. Absolutely worth the price!

I really enjoy using the chrome stick. The only thing we really use it for is YouTube videos. Pretty cheap at $35. I do wish it would play my music through the TV. It also will not display camera pictures or play videos recorded on your phone. Still cheap fun.

This little device is great with my iPad and my android phone. I got one a while back to test and see how I like it, and I found myself dragging it from room to room depending on where I was. So it made since to buy a second one since I enjoy being able to put on the big screens instead of on the phone or iPad. And this works great when you want to have a group watch a video from your phone or pad. I love this even more so now that YouTube has a music channel, great on the big screen. Cons: it is limited to some of the apps, I wish it would just display any of the apps on the big screen.

The Google Chromecast is awesome! it is the first step to almost eliminating HDMI cables forever! I bought this the day after thanksgiving and have used it everyday. I now have 3 for each tv in my house!

I installed it and it took 2 min. As advertised. Netflix works great, YouTube is great. Casting from Chrome browser is not always perfect. Netflix in HD is very nice! Can't beat the quality for the price!

Great investment for an alternative to cable. If you order Neflix and HuLu it's a total of $15 per month, versus paying $90+ for cable. The only bummer is that it will not broadcast from iTunes or HBO Now...but hopefully in the near future.

It took awhile for the chromecast to work properly. This was not due to the product itself but because of what you need to go with the chrome cast and its setup i.e. internet, streaming services. Once the connection was made, things began to run smoothly.

This product is amazingly life saving to saving money When it comes to videos. Cast your smart phone to your television and view photos to movies on the big screen, using apps like nexflix, you tube , and your video gallery. Great for presenting quick presentations and slide shows for conference seminars.

I guess I didn't do my research and this was more of an impulse buy. I figured at $35 it had to offer something I could use and it does, but at a bit of inconvenience since I have to use my PC to make it work. Nevertheless, it works well for what it does.
