Great for casting
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's fun to cast Netflix, YouTube and other streaming programs from your phone. You can also cast Chrome tabs from your laptop and use android devices to cast your screen. Full computer cast is in experimental phase, but you might as well get a Remote Desktop device if you wanted to do that.

Easy to set up. No cables.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was easy to set up and there are no cables to worry about. It does an excellent job of streaming movies. Haven't used it for much else yet but imagine it will do well with other things too.

live in the now!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Every one thinks of me as the Google guru. I love everything of what they do. I've given out chromecasts to friends and family when they already have smart TVs. The funny thing is that once I show them all the cool things it can do besides being 10 time faster than any smart TV. They never go back. Miracasting kinda died out right after it came out. Theres many different ways u can stream just about anything and so far..chromecast blows the competition out of the water. My wife swears I work for Google but just take my word for it. Give it a try but do some research, don't ask employees for help. Better yet watch videos on YouTube, you'll get all the answers u need.

Promising product, but several kinks present
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.. I purchased on-line with an option to pick it up in store. I find that option really handy. Best Buy is very prompt in sending a text/email when the item is ready. In my case, I received an email within 1 hr of online purchase. I had read about Chromecast and eagerly installed it as soon as I came home. Installation was easy and straigh-forward. It detected my home network. I tested it by projecting a song from YouTube on my big screen TV. All you do is click on the chromecast icon in Google chrome; it asks for confirmatio to project and you can start enjoying videos on big screen !! Anything you can open/play in Google Chrome, you can watch on big screen, including pictures, etc. I have had Chromecast for more than a month, and I have detected that the performance is not uniform. Sometimes, it works like a charm. Other times, the video or even pictures take a long time to update. I am able to do other activities on my home network so that is not the problem. I suspect, the back-end software at Google still needs more work. It can be a bit embarrassing -- we had friends over and I started projecting the pictures on big screen only to find out that each picture was taking more than a minute to project. I had to connect my laptop to my receiver using a regular HDMI cable to continue :-( As I said, it is great when it works.

Great product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product for people who like to watch movies. Could have more features like tv shows and browser capabilities. Could use other programs like email and games. One thing I do like about that is you get to watch youtube. Other things I do understand is how to add background pictures to the tv.

Excellent streaming tool!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this to stream Netflix in our spare room. We downloaded the app to our iPod and use it every day. Quick communication between all devices. It's so easy to use that our 5 year old finds the show she wants to watch on her own. This product is definitely worth the money. New bonus that we just realized...it also allows for HBO to be streamed on our tv that it is hooked up to! Awesome buy!

Smarter tv
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought it for a non smart tv, now I can cast my smart phone to it and have access to the internet. It sometimes has connection issues with my Samsung galaxy s5, but overall it works fine.

Accessible
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the Google ChromeCast I can use this on all the tv's in my home. I can connect to desktop, laptops, tablets and cellphones. I can travel with it can use it in my hotel room and watch Netflix or Hulu. The chromecast does require wifi to be able to access the apps such as Netflix and Hulu.

Good $$, could be easier to use.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great dollar value for the Google Chrome streaming stick, but I found it somewhat hard to work. You need to have a separate source device (smartphone, tablet, laptop) to use it. Still, a good entry point into getting streaming media on your HDTV.

USB Cable included
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a hard time figuring out how the Chromecast draws power and if through USB how long is the cable. After I purchased and used it I now know the cable is between 2 to 3 feet long so you can power up the Chromecast from your Cable or DVD or even use an outlet as a plug is also included.

Great product for streaming
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really a nice product from Google. I was waiting for this kind of product for long! I had purchased two streaming media player before and returned them both! They were bulky and not user friendly at all. With Chromecast, finally my streaming problem is solved. I can cast anything that I can see on chrome without compromising on quality of the video. I recommend this product to anybody who loves to watch internet videos on TV, including Netflix and youtube.

My son bought the first one. Bought one more.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As I said my son bought the first one and it was so easy to set up that I bought another one for another tv. My husband loves it. He pulls up Netflix and is able to watch without commercials.

Great option for Netflix.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You will need a smartphone or tablet for both set up and control of the device, but the ease of use and quality for video is hard to beat.

Great form fact, meh on functionality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great bang for the buck esp. if you want to view Netflix on your TV. But audio cuts out every 20 minutes or so for about 10 seconds forcing a rewind to catch a critical piece of dialog -- very annoying. It supports youtube and GoogleMusic player too but I have other ways of viewing that content (and more preferable than a TV with Chromecast). It's a good start but if you're looking for an Android equivalent of AppleTV, you will be sorely disappointed. At the same time, you feel that at $35, it's not worth the trouble to return it. I use it mainly to watch Netflix.

great when it works
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had issues with mine disconnecting and being unable to steam properly. I have come to assume that the wifi antenna is tiny (the entire stick is the size of a large flash drive so it's to be expected). This is a problem for me because my TV and router are on opposite ends on my house. When it was working I loved the youtube playlist feature. It allows anyone connected to your wifi to add videos/songs to a playlist. great for parties where your friends want to hear their favorite song as it basically acts as a DJ request list. I also like that it supports Twitch (watching video game streams) so i can watch my favorite gaming tournaments on my big tv instead of my phone or pc.

worked well but seemed unnecessary
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The day that I purchased this item, I also bought 3 computers and some software. I had some issues with the salesperson who didn't listen to my needs. It turns out that my smart tv does the same as the Chromecast, so It was unnecessary. Great product, convenient to use with my smartphone too.

Works
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, just be aware that certain internet providers may not work well with this product if you are using their modem/router. I initially had AT&T and for whatever reason the chromecast has connections issues with their hardware. I brought out an old router, hooked it up to that router and then the chrome cast worked perfectly. It does exactly what is is supposed to and has a great price. I use this in my bedroom where to stream hulu, HBO, etc. Despite the initial issues I had, which were not chromecasts fault, I would recommend this to anyone looking for an easy way to turn any TV into a smart TV. Streaming via apps on the phone works without any hitches.

great media player for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Turned my dumb TV into a smarter one for under 40 bucks. With new apps being developed every day, it's well worth the miniscule investment.
