This is actually the second chromecast we have purchased. We have two older TV sets that didn't have the smart technology in them and this device works great. We have not had any issues using the chromecast. Great product.

Initially, the setup was not quite easy but it was operator error. Once set up, the Chromecast worked like a charm for streaming my PC files/videos to our 50 inch HDMI TV. That is great, but it does not work on Internet streaming, at least not yet. We are waiting for the update. Once you can stream your favorite TV show or movie to your computer and watch it on your big screen TV, Chromecast will be worthwhile for everyone.

Chromecast certainly has its strengths and works well for its intended purpose. I wish it could have the option of standalone operation without being joined to a phone, tablet, or pc.

This product is truly amazing. I chose to get one because I did not want to pay monthly for cable. Instead I paid $35 for a Chromecast that allows me to stream Netflix (which I use constantly) and lots of other media that I enjoy. I get so much more use out of this technology than I would out of regular TV channels. You definitely get a lot of bang for your buck with the Chromecast. It is so easy to use and I have gotten several friends and family hooked on it! This is easily one of the best purchases I have ever made.

I started with an Apple TV, which I still use. I decided to give Chromecast a try, and was quite satisfied. I think it is as good as the Apple TV at less cost. I have bought two of these units abd plan to buy a third.

I can send video from my laptop, Surface Pro, and iPhone. Works pretty good. It gets hot quickly though. Sometimes it freezes up and I have to reload the video. Good gadget for the price.

I use this thing every chance I get. I needed to get one for every room and I can make announcements to ask the rooms using YouTube. "WAKE UP!". Just wish it could push audio without the need for the TV to be on some how.

Purchased this to see if i had what it takes to finally cut the cord and so far so good. Only thing i wish is that it had a stand alone remote for basic apps like netflix and hulu.

I have never been one to purchase new technology products before they have been around long enough to garner expert reviews or word of mouth from friends and associates. However, Google Chromecast is the exception. I read an article published on the day it was to be released for sale and immediately bought it online at Best Buy. It was shipped sooner than anticipated and installed almost immediately. The reasonably priced, bare-bones hardware is easy to set up and works like a charm. Just what I have come to expect from Google.

As a techie, I wanted to see how this worked. Although the easy to follow directions say plug it into your TV, I plugged it into my Denon AV receiver and used the enclosed power transformer. Works perfectly this way. The only negative is that I'd really like to be able to show web content from my IPAD on the TV and the software just isn't there...yet (hopefully). It would be a real winner if it worked with air video..but that's unlikely to happen.

I purchased this in hopes of being able to stream videos from my Chrome Browser on my PC/Laptop from sites like ABC, FOX, etc. It does not do this well. 1st, you need to have the device you are streaming from within 20 feet of the Chromecast, so make sure you are using a mobile device (a PC 2 rooms over will not work). 2nd, both devices need to be connected to the same WiFi Network, this poses a problem when streaming internet content...you are first receiving the video content from the web and then trying to send that same content at the same time to the Chromecast, this causes major lag and poor picture quality on your TV. , due to the traffic over your wireless network. Even if you set the picture quality to 480p on the Chromecast you still have these issues! And, why would you even want to watch anything in 480p on today's 1080p TVs? I tried to connect my laptop directly to my wireless access point using a Cat5 cable thinking this would alleviate some of the stress on the wireless network causing the lag, but as soon as I plugged in the cable to the laptop it no longer saw the Chromecast Device. Even though both devices were still connected to the same Network, which is stated as being required , it did not work because both were not connected WIRELESSLY, which was not stated as being required. The only function that Chromecast did well was to stream Netflix and HBO Go from a Tablet or Smartphone but only if you had the minimum (480p) quality set. This device is not as great as they make it out to be, if you have a Smart TV stay away from the allure of Chromecast as your TV already does everything that Chromecast does and your TV does it better. If you DO NOT have a Smart TV and don't want to shell out $1,000+ on a new TV in order to watch Netflix, etc. than this is a cheap alternative for you and I do mean CHEAP.

I think the ChromeCast is something worth buying but only if you're big on the Wireless concept. I have a Smart TV so basically all of the functions that I can use the ChromeCast for on my phone are already available on my TV. The only other feature that I've discovered that's actually kind of useful for things like presentations or just a simple hosting service is through the use of an extension on my computer's Google Chrome browser which allows me to cast my screen from my laptop onto the TV (it's delayed of course but I think that is acceptable considering the amount of speed my internet and devices would need in order to produce an on time second my second projection of my phone or computer to the TV through a WiFi network). I'm not sure if it supports Bluetooth but if it doesn't I believe it should so that it wouldn't require both devices to be connected to the WiFi to work. Another option that would be useful would be for it to somehow allow users/administrators to use the Google Chrome Cast to cast something to a TV that might not even be within your reach. For example, the other day I wanted to surprise my girlfriend for Valentine's Day and I wanted to cast something onto the screen while I was downstairs. I couldn't however because my phone wasn't close enough to connect to the WiFi so I had to wait till I got outside my door in order to send it. A feature that'd allow me to send something to my Google Chrome Cast from miles away would be a very useful feature. Besides all of that, just more apps that support the Chrome Cast system would be useful, that and the ability to cast whatever is on one's screen would be very nice as well (from a computer and a phone).

Purchased this online , This is a fantastic purchase.. Easy to set up, easy to stream to... Even my wife how is indifferent to technology thinks that the Chromecast dongle is an amazing piece of technology.. from watching Youtube videos, to enjoying Netflix to casting media from my PC (just drag a file into a chrome tab it works with many different formats. If you find one of these babies I highly recommend that you grab one... I would even recommend this o my technology impaired mother, it was that easy to set and up and use.
